(ellas) = ______________________________________________________ 3 Regular Present Tense Verbs As you learned in Spanish 1 last year, there are both regular and irregular verbs in Spanish. Regular verbs are the easiest to learn and to memorize as they follow set patterns. There are three types of regular verbs. They are divided by the last two letters with which they end. There are regular __________ verbs, regular ___________ verbs, and regular ____________ verbs. The verb “hablar” is an example of a regular ______________ verb. The verb “comer” is an example of a regular _____________ verb. The verb “vivir” is an example of a regular ______________ verb. ****In order to conjugate these verbs, we cross out the last two letters in the infinitive and add the appropriate endings for each type of verb. El verbo Tener In Spanish, the verb tener means ___________________. It is also used to say how old a person is. The verb tener is sometimes used to describe how a person feels. El Verbo Gustar In Spanish 1, you learned that in order to talk about what you like, you must use a form of the verb gustar + noun. You also learned that if the noun was singular, use gusta Me gusta la pizza. If the noun was plural, use gustan Me gustan mis clases. To talk about what a person likes to do, use gusta + INFINITIVE ¿Qué te gusta hacer?....Me gusta leer. Conjugating the verb GUSTAR ***NOTE: We DO NOT use the subject pronouns (yo/tú, etc… )with the verb gustar!!! To say you do not like something, just add no in front of the reflexive pronouns(me/te/le/nos/les) Conjugate the verb Gustar Gustar = _________________ 8 To add emphasis to the person you are talking about you can add “a+noun/pronoun” to the beginning of the sentence. The verb “ir” is an irregular verb, which means that the conjugations should be memorized. The conjugations for the verb “ir” are as follows: Conjugate the verb ir Ir = _____________ 1) This verb is used to talk about where someone is going. This does not mean that the word you are being taught is an incorrect word. This is simply because there are many countries that speak Spanish and each country may use a different word to describe the same thing. Just as there are differences between British English and American English, there are also differences between the Spanish of differing Spanish speaking countries.
