INTENTAMOS SUPERARNOS
Cada día es mayor el número de personas que están convencidas de que la programación cultural de Roquetas de Mar
es una de las mejores del país. Si a las acƟvidades programadas durante todo el año en los diferentes espacios
escénicos del municipio, sumamos las que se llevan a cabo durante los meses de julio y agosto dentro del programa
“A PIE DE CALLE”, creo que arrojamos una media de espectáculos diİcilmente superable incluso en capitales de provincia.
El Ayuntamiento, a través del Área de Cultura, realiza un gran esfuerzo para conseguir una programación cultural de
estas caracterísƟcas, con lo que a su vez se pone de manifiesto nuestro interés a favor de todo aquello que repercute
en la educación y formación de nuestros hijos.
Las miles de personas que nos honran con su presencia durante los meses de verano tendrán un amplio abanico de
posibilidades a la hora de programar sus ratos de ocio, ya que son muchos y variados los espectáculos que a diario se
celebrarán en los diferentes espacios escénicos del término municipal, algo que, sin lugar a dudas, tendrá una
importante repercusión entre los visitantes, porque diİcilmente habrá algún municipio con una oferta lúdico cultural
de estas caracterísƟcas. Este año llegamos a la XIII Edición y se han programado 117 actuaciones que se inician el 1 de
julio y finalizan el 31 de agosto, con una amplia y variada gama de espectáculos lúdico culturales desƟnados a público
de todas las edades, que podrá disfrutar de variados espectáculos en los disƟntos escenarios habilitados para ellos.
En esta ocasión destacan los conciertos de Julio Iglesias, Nacha Pop, Auryn, Melocos o el grupo Apache, además de
teatro y cine infanƟl, encuentro de corales, fesƟval internacional de trovo, visitas teatralizadas y fesƟvales ya
consolidados como Pulpop y Almeriblues. Todo un amplio abanico de actuaciones que complementan la oferta
turísƟca del municipio, que como es sabido lidera el número de visitantes en la provincia durante los meses de verano.
Por tanto, un año más las miles de personas que nos honran con su presencia disfrutarán de una amplia gama de
variedades a la hora de programar sus ratos de ocio, ya que como señalaba antes son más de cien los espectáculos
que se celebran en los diferentes espacios escénicos del término municipal.
Esperamos que “A PIE DE CALLE” supere en esta ocasión la cifra de 200.000 espectadores del año pasado, lo que sin
duda supone un magnífico aval para intentar superarnos cada vez más en acontecimientos culturales de este Ɵpo.
Por úlƟmo, aprovecho de nuevo la ocasión para referirme a la extraordinaria labor que el Ayuntamiento está llevando
a cabo en materia cultural y educaƟva, porque como siempre he dicho, el progreso y el bienestar de un pueblo es
directamente proporcional a la formación de sus vecinos, y de ahí que todos los esfuerzos que realicemos al respecto
los considere siempre escasos.
Finalizo con mi más sincero agradecimiento a cuantas personas han hecho posible esta programación de “A PIE DE
CALLE”, con la que vamos a disfrutar durante todas las noches de este verano.

ConƟnuando con nuestra programación cultural un año más, presentamos la décimo tercera edición de
“A PIE DE CALLE”, una propuesta cultural que cada año obsequia a todos los roqueteros y veraneantes con
unas geniales actuaciones de arƟstas de primer nivel.
Desde Aguadulce hasta la Urbanización Playa Serena, siete magníficos espacios escénicos donde se dan
cita cada noche miles de personas para disfrutar de unas veladas mágicas en las que la música, el teatro,
el cine, las exposiciones, los mercados y la fantasía se alían con las agradables temperaturas nocturnas
de nuestra Ɵerra para que podamos deleitarnos y soñar despiertos durante unas noches de verano que
recordaremos el resto del año.
El Ayuntamiento de Roquetas de Mar, a través del Área de Cultura, manƟene año tras año el compromiso
de promover durante los meses de julio y agosto una fabulosa programación totalmente gratuita que es
referente en el panorama nacional. Actuaciones de primer nivel como Auryn, Melocos, Nacha Pop,
Apache… y un sin fin de diversas acƟvidades hacen de Roquetas de Mar un lugar de encuentro donde
gozar de unas diverƟdas y felices vacaciones.
Mención especial para los más pequeños; a ellos va dirigida gran parte de nuestras acƟvidades con el
convencimiento que serán de su total agrado.
Igualmente contamos con fesƟvales que cada verano se repiten y que año tras año atraen por su
diversidad a todo Ɵpo de público, como el Pulpop, el Almeriblues y la III Edición del “Mare Musicum”, un
excelente fesƟval de música y danza anƟguas que ya ocupa un lugar destacado dentro del calendario nacional.
Nuestros habituales mercados, Marinero y Medieval, pondrán la nota de color y sabor en el idílico entorno
del CasƟllo de Santa Ana.
Para todo ello contamos con los trabajadores del Área de Cultura, que con su esfuerzo y buen hacer
componen el mejor equipo humano posible.
Desde estas líneas, agradecer a todos los roqueteros y veraneantes la fidelidad a cada una de las
acƟvidades que realizamos, esperando que se repita el éxito que viene siendo habitual en esta
programación veraniega.
Todo ello envuelto en la fresca brisa de nuestro mar hará que este verano Roquetas de Mar sea el lugar
perfecto para soñar.

característicos del municipio. Además de su
paseo marítimo, desde el que se puede disfrutar
de unas excelentes vistas de la bahía, cuenta con
puerto deportivo y maravillosas playas. Destaca
sobre todo por su oferta de servicios y ocio.

También conocido como el “Castillo de Las
Roquetas”, se trata de una fortificación del siglo
XVI que sirvió de baluarte defensivo y refugio a
los habitantes del municipio. En 2003 fue
restaurado y es actualmente uno de los centros
expositivos más emblemáticos del municipio.

La Plaza de Toros de Roquetas alberga tanto
espectáculos taurinos como conciertos de
música. Con un aforo de casi 8000
espectadores, cuenta también con un museo
taurino y zonas temáticas alrededor de la
misma tales como restaurantes, bares de
copas y demás comercios.

“El lugar donde habitan las palabras”
“The place where words live”
Poli es una niña a quien no le gustaba nada, pero nada de nada, leer, hasta
que un día, por casualidad, y para refugiarse de una tormenta que le
sorprendió por la calle, entró en un misterioso edificio que resultó ser una
Biblioteca...un lugar lleno de... ¡libros! Y donde acabó convertida en una
ilustración. Para encontrar la salida, y volver a ser una niña de carne y
hueso, deberá ayudar a distintos personajes de libros en su lucha contra la
Nada.
A production inspired by David Kirschner's The Pagemaster and The
Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Five fantasy characters (Dorothy
from The Wizard of Oz, a fairy, a hunchback, a witch and a pirate) come to
life before the audience's eyes and ask for their help to stop the Place
where Words live and their homes - books - being devoured by an
unstoppable 'Nothing' caused by young people not reading books
anymore.

Missy y Dissy, llegan al Teatro dispuestas a ver la función anunciada.
Mientras esperan a que comience ésta, que parece retrasarse, deciden
ocupar el lugar de los actores en el escenario y, utilizando una varita
mágica que han "cogido prestada" del circo donde trabajan, intentan
crear una historia basada en los cuentos tradicionales. El truco les saldrá
mal y empezarán a aparecer los típicos personajes de los cuentos en
escena, pero con las personalidades cambiadas.

Actualmente la plantilla de la Orquesta está formada por 75 personas con
edades comprendidas de los 9 años hasta los 50, alumnos que estudian
en la propia escuela municipal y alumnos que han proseguido sus
estudios musicales en el Conservatorio Profesional de Almería; dirigidos
por Ginés Martínez, profesor de esta escuela.
The orchestra currently has 75 members aged from 9 to 50, including
pupils of the municipal school and others who have gone on to study
music at Almeria Conservatory. The conductor is Ginés Martínez, a
teacher at the school.

Antonio de Torres Folk AssociaƟon
La Agrupación Folklórica Antonio de Torres, surge en 1983 como iniciativa
de la Asociación de Vecinos Antonio de Torres, de La Cañada, Almería,
bajo la dirección de Lola Quero. Nació como un grupo de barrio, y con la
pretensión de formar una escuela de baile folklórico. En 1992 se consolida
con un cuerpo de baile formado por 16 mujeres y 8 hombres, y un cuerpo
de rondalla de 8 componentes.
The Antonio de Torres Folk Group was created in 1983 by the Antonio de
Torres Residents' Association in La Cañada, Almeria, under the direction of
Lola Quero. It started off as a community group with a view to setting up
a folk dance school. By 1992 it had a dance company of 16 women and 8
men, and a rondalla stringed instrument ensemble with 8 members.

ensemble of some 45 musicians. They will play pasodobles, film
soundtracks, musicals and more to ensure a night of fantastic music.

Jacaranda
Jacaranda es un grupo almeriense cuyos componentes cuentan con
una dilatada trayectoria musical que nos ofrece un recorrido por los
más bellos rincones de la música latinoamericana, desde los sureños
sonidos argentinos, como la zamba y la chacarera, hasta los
entrañables huapangos de México. Jacaranda, vuelve nuevamente a
`A Pie de Calle´, festival que vio nacer a esta agrupación, para sacar
bellos sonidos a un amplio conjunto de instrumentos de viento,
cuerda y percusión, y así poder compartir esta música tan querida y
tan especial para todos nosotros.
Jacaranda is a band from Almeria whose members have forged
extensive careers in music. They will take us on a tour of the most
beautiful music of Latin America, from the samba and chacarera of
southern Argentina to the moving huapangos of Mexico.

A los doce años de edad comienza cantando en coros flamencos de
Jaén y compañías de bailes locales y nacionales, convirtiéndose, unos
años después, en director y compositor de un coro flamenco en Jaén,
compaginándolo con su grupo de flamenco fusión, con el cual ha
recorrido toda la geografía española.
At the age of twelve he began singing in flamenco choirs in Jaen, and
local and national dance companies. A few years later he was
appointed conductor and composer for a flamenco choir in Jaen,
while also touring Spain with his flamenco fusion group.
He now lives in Almeria where he is working as a solo artist, giving live
performances and working on his first album.

La Princesa Linda y Bolo el Sabio y juegan en la plaza de la villa, y se les
ocurre la idea de organizar una fiesta para celebrar el cumpleaños del Rey
Simpatías. Se dirigen al palacio para contarselo al Rey que le parece genial
la idea. Pero un misterioso personaje el mago Cadabra tiene otros planes,
transformara con sus poderes al Rey en pollo y a la Princesita Linda en
Caperucita Roja.
Princess Linda and Bolo the Wise are playing in the town square when
they come up with an idea for a birthday party for King Nicely.
They go to the palace to tell the King, who loves the plan. However, the
mysterious Wizard Cadabra has other ideas and will use his powers to
turn the King into a chicken and Princess Linda into Red Riding Hood.

El Rey Simpatías confía a su amigo Bolo el Sabio la custodia del tesoro real.
Dos malvados personajes aprovechan un descuido de Bolo, que se
quedó dormido, y se apoderan del tesoro. Cuando el Rey descubre lo
ocurrido culpa a Bolo y lo expulsa de palacio. Peneque el Valiente con la
ayuda de los niños tendrán que encontrar el tesoro.
King Nicely entrusts his friend Bolo the Wise to guard the royal treasure.
However, when Bolo accidentally falls asleep, two thieves seize the
treasure. When the King finds out he blames Bolo and throws him out of
the palace. Peneque the Brave must find the treasure with the children's
help.

This group is a tribute band to the Golden Age of Spanish pop and
performs songs from the counterculture scene that emerged in
Madrid in the late 1970s (known as the ‘Movida Madrileña’).

Picolíssima Jug Band
Se trata de una original propuesta, tanto en lo musical como en lo visual, que
hunde sus raíces en los orígenes de la música popular norteamericana. Estos
tres músicos (Antonio Alvarez, Patricio Caparrós y Antonio Fernández) crearon
en verano de 2009 una banda al estilo de las primeras “jug bands” de músicos
negros durante los primeros años de la era del jazz y el swing. En directo, el
grupo sorprende por la amplitud de recursos que utilizan para desarrollar su
ameno repertorio. Además de instrumentos habituales como la guitarra o el
contrabajo, se hacen valer de instrumentos tradicionales de la música de raíz
americana.
This very original visual and musical concept is rooted in the origins of
North American folk music. In the summer of 2009, these three musicians
- Antonio Álvarez, Patricio Caparrós and Antonio Fernández - set up a
group based on the style of the first African-American jug bands of the
early jazz and swing era.In their live concerts the group not only uses the
traditional guitar and bass, but also features a wide range of traditional
American folk music instruments in performing their enjoyable repertoire
of music.

Contaremos con la presencia de la Coral Armíz de Motril, el Coro de
Cámara Emilio Carrión de Almería; y ejerciendo como anfitriona,
nuestra Coral Polifónica “Ciudad de Roquetas”, que nació tras la unión
de la Coral “La Asunción” de El Parador (1991) y la Coral “Sol y Mar” de
Roquetas de Mar (1993) dando lugar en 2001 a la Coral “Santa Cecilia”,

Proyecto fundado por el vocalista Santos Basso y el guitarrista Nacho
Gómez que rinde tributo a los grandes de la música negra de principios

vocalista británica Carlene Gram, residente en Roquetas de Mar, con una
gran trayectoria en solitario y que ha compartido escenario con artistas
de la talla de Shakira, Madonna y Placebo entre otros.

Cables Cruzados
Herederos del mejor rock en español, ‘Cables Cruzados’ destaca por su
frescura y la contundencia de su directo. Su repertorio propio, cada vez

Heirs of classic Spanish rock, Cables Cruzados is a fresh band with a
rocking live show. Playing a mixture of their own songs and Spanish
covers of other rock artists and groups, this quartet gets bigger on stage.
With a classic band set-up of two guitars, bass and drums, Iván Infantes,
Juan Luis Pérez and Manuel Carmona play their own songs as if they were
well-known hits, and choice covers as if they were their own.

manera que el espectáculo va "in crescendo" en variedad de estilos, de
ritmos modernos y hasta los más clásicos, como el pasodoble que
conforman el repertorio del montaje de este año de su directora Merche.
This piece has a nuanced plot in which a hypothetical painter
conveys his dreams on canvases through dance and flamencofusion.
Moments of creation give rise to an expression of eight
scenes/choreographies that are tinged with feeling. Musical numbers
are interspersed with dance, creating a crescendo of a range of styles,
modern rhythms and even classics such as the pasodoble, all of
which are part of director Merche's repertoire for this year.

Este grupo es un tributo a las voces femeninas del Pop en español, todos

This group is a tribute to female Spanish pop singers, to the groups of
the counterculture music scene that emerged in the late 70s (the
'Movida Madrileña') and to all the songs sung by women that we
have grown up with. The band's members are experienced musicians
from Almeria. Their live performances are seamless and have one

Two friendly witches realise that they are losing their ‘customers’ to a
famous magician who has recently moved to their city. Somewhat
alarmed, they decide to brush up their powers and work on their
skills a little. Although nobody buys into their knowledge, potions,
elixirs or spells, they discover that the two virtues they do have honesty and care for others - are their most powerful weapons. All

"clavo y canela" que viene desde su isla natal y tras bañarse en la

quiere y a la que nunca terminara de estar agradecida.

Mares
Mares es un grupo de Pop-Rock español con multitud de influencias
entre las que destaca el Rock americano. Ritmos vivos, melodías y
letras trabajadas hacen de Mares un grupo a tener en cuenta en la
escena rock nacional. Desde sus comienzos en 2008 con su EP
"Melomanía" no han pasado desapercibidos para crítica y público
habiendo sido ganadores de varios concursos a nivel nacional e
internacional como el U>Rock o el Certamen jóvenes creadores de la
Comunidad de Madrid.
Mares is a Spanish pop rock band with a range of influences, including
American rock. With lively rhythms and select melodies and lyrics, Mares

Whenever Naomi visits her grandfather he tells her tales that carry her off
to an imaginary world. One day, unexpectedly, something happens when
she falls asleep and she is transported to that world. Naomi has many

Maguey reinterpreta los ritmos y sonidos más puros de la tradición
hispano-americana, destacando en su sonido especialmente la influencia
de Cuba y México y, como no, del Bolero. Sus miembros se conocieron en
la Universidad de Granada, y fue durante un viaje a México, donde surgió
la idea original de la formación, tomando el nombre de “Maguey” de una
especie de pita de aquella región de la que se extrae el famoso Tequila
Mexicano.
Maguey reproduces the purest rhythms and sounds of the
Spanish-American tradition, with strong influences from Cuba and
Mexico and, naturally, the bolero. Its members met at Granada University
and came up the idea for the band while travelling in Mexico. The name
Maguey comes from a local plant used to make the famous Mexican
tequila.

This group pays homage to grand international musicians and those
musical hits by groups and solo performers such as U2, R.E.M., Simple
Minds, The Cure, Bruce Springteen, Depeche Mode, The Police, and others,
who are the backbone of world pop rock music of the 1980s. We also touch
on great ‘90s themes by bands such as Oasis, Blur, Crowded House, The
Verve, to name a few, and also take a look at the good songs of today by

Se forma en 2008 con músicos que vienen de otros proyectos con gran
repercusión provincial y nacional y con una larga trayectoria en el mundo
musical. En el primer año de vida el grupo ofrece algunos conciertos con
una gran acogida por parte del público que los sigue. En la actualidad el
grupo está formado por Jose (batería), Fran (guitarra y voz), Germán
(bajo), y Manolo (guitarra solista), también José María (técnico de sonido).
Formed in 2008 with musicians from other projects who have made their
names locally and nationally and who have been part of the music scene
for years. In their first year, the band played several gigs to great acclaim
from their fans. The current members are José (drums), Fran (guitar and
vocals), Germán (bass) and Manolo (lead guitar), as well as José María
(sound technician).

Son los hermanos Bolívar, Javier (guitarra y voz) y Julio (guitarra y coros),
Ignacio Buhígas (bajo y coros) y José Alberto Solana (batería y
percusión). El grupo nace en Granada en Octubre de 2008. Su álbum de
debut, “Géminis” (Pías, 2013), contiene 10 canciones cantadas en
castellano y se publica el próximo 21 de Enero en formato CD. Fue
grabado durante el pasado mes de Agosto en los estudios Producciones
Peligrosas de Granada a las órdenes de Banín Fraile. Es en
2012 cuando Aurora dan un paso más allá tocando en Madrid, donde telonean a Delorentos, actúan
en el Primavera Sound y ganan el concurso Emergentes de la Diputación de Granada.
AURORA are the Bolívar brothers Javier (guitar and vocals) and Julio (guitar and vocals), Ignacio
Buhígas (bass and vocals), and José Alberto Solana (drums and percussion). The group was
formed in Granada in October 2008. Their debut albumGéminis (Pías, 2013), features ten songs
sung in Spanish and is released on 21 January on CD. It was recorded last August at the
Producciones Peligrosas studios in Granada, under the direction of Banín Fraile. Aurora had their
breakthrough in 2012, when they were the support band for Delorentos in Madrid, played at
Primavera Sound, and won a new talent competition run by the County Council of Granada.

Detrás de tan quadrophénico nombre (tomado del tema que abre la
ópera rock de TheWho) encontramos a David Bailey (voz, guitarra) y
Paco García (guitarra), anteriormente en Moon Unit, junto a Alberto
Bonillo (ex Monogay) al bajo y Antonio Medina (ex TheShake) a la
batería.Cuatro artesanos, cuatro currantes de la Canción Pop con
mayúsculas. Con el primer corte, “TheFlipside”, ya se va viendo de
qué va la cosa: guitarras limpias, preciosas melodías, cadencia
envidiable…
The Real Me is the latest supergroup to emerge from the Almeria coast. Behind their very
Quadrophenic name (taken from the opening track of The Who's rock opera) are David Bailey

"Tinieblas, por fin" es un título de broma sobre algo grave. Un día
cualquiera del año pasado, echó la cuenta: once discos en una
década, contando los de The New Raemon, de los grupos Madee
y Ghouls'n'Ghosts y de su alianza con Francisco Nixon y Ricardo
Vicente. "Tinieblas, por fin" es el resultado de varias tensiones
superpuestas y es sobre todo Ramón mirándose al espejo y
mirando al exterior. Se obligaba a utilizar nuevas
estructuras al componer, a arreglar la música de otras formas, y a
sacar las letras de la tripa, improvisando libremente.
Tinieblas, por fin ('Darkness, finally') is a humorous title on a serious issue. One fine day last
year he counted up: eleven albums in a decade, including his work with The New Raemon,
bands Madee and Ghouls'n'Ghosts, and his partnerships with Francisco Nixon and Ricardo
Vicente. Tinieblas, por fin is the outcome of several overlapping tensions, and above all is
Ramón looking in the mirror and looking outwards. He has forced himself to use
newstructures when composing, to arrange music in alternative ways, and to write lyrics
from thegut, improvising freely.

Desde hace algunas semanas se puede escuchar en radios e internet
el tema que da nombre al disco,"Dualize", que también se puede
adquirir ya en iTunes. El álbum, el sexto en la carrera de L.A., ha sido
producido y grabado por Richard Swift en su estudio de Oregón,
EEUU. La banda mallorquina comenzará a presentar este trabajo en
directo en nuestro país a partir del mes de mayo. Sobre el título del
disco cuenta Luis Albert que "es bastante explícito: habla de dualizar,
de las dos caras de la moneda, de que todo tiene dos perspectivas,
de que básicamente hay que saber siempre las dos versiones de las cosas".
The title track from the album Dualize has been playing on radio stations and the internet for
several weeks now, and is also available on iTunes. L.A.'s sixth album was produced and recorded
by Richard Swift at his studio in Oregon, USA. The Mallorca-based band will be performing their
new songs all over Spain from May onwards. On the subject of the album title, Luis Albert says, "it
is fairly explicit: it's about dualizing, the two sides of the coin, the fact everything has two
perspectives, that you basically always have to know both sides of the story."

Delorentos es una banda irlandesa, de la ciudad de Dublín y formada en 2005. Sus
componentes son RonanYourell (voz, guitarra y piano), KieranMcGuinness (guitarra),
NíalConlan (bajo) y Ross McCormick (batería). Su primer lanzamiento fue el EP
“LeaveItOn”, publicado a finales de 2005, y con el que entran directamente en el “Top 30
Irish Singles Chart”. El tema de igual nombre que el EP, sube a la posición número uno, y
en 2006, “The Rules”, otro de los temas incluidos, llegaría a mantenerse en la posición
catorce durante varias semanas. El grupo Delorentos vuelven a la carga desarrollando su
sonido con “Little Sparks”.
Delorentos is an Irish band from Dublin that was formed in 2005. Its members are
Ronan Yourell (vocals, guitar and piano), Kieran McGuinness (guitar), Níal Conlan (bass)
and Ross McCormick (drums). Their first album was the EP Leave It On, released in late

Juanpoppfué was a DJ at Sugarpop for 8 years and is now the resident DJ
