La Sede Región Centro del Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), localizada
en la Ciudad de Aguascalientes, convoca al presente concurso por una plaza de ProfesorInvestigador Visitante en Política de Drogas.
El CIDE es un centro público de investigación en ciencias sociales, con programas de
excelencia en licenciatura y posgrado. Los sueldos son competitivos nacional e
internacionalmente y la carga docente habitual es de un curso por semestre. Su sede Región
Centro es el primer campus del CIDE fuera de la Ciudad de México, especializado en estudios
regionales e interdisciplinarios. La plaza de Profesor-Investigador Visitante en Política de Drogas
se abre en el contexto de la incubación de un Programa de Política de Drogas (PPD),
impulsado por el Área de Control de Substancias del Programa de Derecho a la Salud (PDS)
del CIDE. Dicho programa (PPD) tendrá como objetivo estudiar el fenómeno de las drogas y
las políticas de drogas desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria y aplicada a niveles local,
nacional, regional e internacional. La persona que resulte seleccionada en el concurso deberá
colaborar en la incubación del PPD, tanto en los proyectos colectivos como desarrollando su
propia agenda de investigación.
La plaza de Profesor-Investigador Visitante será otorgada por un año, renovable a dos. Se
espera que la plaza de Profesor-Investigador Visitante se convierta en una plaza de ProfesorInvestigador Titular de Carrera al terminar la fase de incubación del PPD, dependiendo del
desempeño del Profesor-Investigador seleccionado y de su compromiso con el PPD del CIDE.
La plaza está abierta a académicos preferentemente no mayores de 40 años de edad, con
grado de doctor o, excepcionalmente, a doctornados próximos a obtener el grado de
cualquier disciplina de las ciencias sociales. En este último caso, se espera que se obtenga el
grado de doctor a más tardar al momento de ocupar la plaza. En particular, se preferirán
perfiles especializados en salud pública, epidemiología o economía de la salud. Sin embargo,
la plaza está abierta para candidatos con otras especialidaes y enfoques disciplinares, siendo
indispensable que su agenda de investigación esté relacionada con la política de drogas.

La convocatoria permanecerá abierta hasta el 4 de mayo de 2012. Si para dicha fecha no se
ha seleccionado algún candidato, la convocatoria permanecerá abierta hasta que se ocupe
la plaza.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR VISITING PROFESSOR POSITION - AT CIDE REGIÓN CENTRO

CIDE’s Región Centro campus, located in the city of Aguascalientes, calls for submissions for a
position as Visiting Professor in the area of Drug Policy.
CIDE is a public research center specializing in the social sciences, with undergraduate and
graduate programs in Law, Public Administration, Economics, History, Political Science and
International Relations. CIDE’s Región Centro Campus in Aguascalientes, CIDE’s first campus to
be established outside Mexico City, focuses on regional and interdisciplinary studies.
This position is established within the incubation of a Drug Policy Program (DPP), sponsored by
CIDE’s Substance Control Area of the Right to Health Program. The DPP is planned as an
independent program using an interdisciplinary approach to the study of drugs and drug policy
at the local, national, regional and international levels. The selected candidate is expected to
collaborate in the launching of the DPP through both participation in the collective projects
that will be developed during the incubation stage as well as in developing his or her own
research agenda on drugs and/or drug policy.
The position of Visiting Professor will be granted for one year, renewable for a second year. It is
expected that the visiting position will become a permanent tenure track post upon
culmination of the incubation stage and the formal launching of the DPP as a permanent
program. The change of status from Visiting to a full-time tenure track Professorship will depend
on the occupant’s performance and his or her commitment to the DPP. Salaries at CIDE are
competitive both nationally and internationally and the normal teaching requirement is one
course per semester.
The position is open to academics preferably under 40 years of age, with a doctoral degree in
any of the social sciences or, exceptionally, to doctoral candidates close to the completion of
their degrees, with the expectation that the Ph.D. will be obtained by the date of appointment.
Specialists in public health, epidemiology or health economics are preferred, but all specialties
in the social sciences are eligible. It is required that the candidate’s research agenda be
related to drug policy.
