Gateway Humanities 9
Social Movements Exhibition
March 17th
5-6:30 pm
Families and community members are invited to Gateway to see our Humanities
9 Exhibition. Students will be presenting their research on a 20th century social
movement: The India Freedom Struggle, South Africa’s Anti-Apartheid
Movement, and the current Zapatista movement in Chiapas, Mexico. Students
will compare these movements to current Bay Area social movements, and will be
sharing persona reflections on injustice they want to fix, how they plan to do it,
and what personal qualities are needed to succeed against difficult odds.
Students will have prepared a poster, website, and speech to explain their work.
We ask that each student brings at least one person from their family or
community. We ask that, if possible, each family brings one dish to share, or
volunteers to help at the event.

Noche De Presentacion - Movimientos Sociales

Las familias y los miembros de la comunidad están invitados para ver nuestra
Noche De Presentacion para Humanidades. Los estudiantes presentarán sus
investigaciones en un movimiento social del siglo 20: La lucha de la India
Libertad, Movimiento Anti-Apartheid de Sudáfrica, y el actual movimiento
Zapatista en Chiapas, México. Los estudiantes compararán estos movimientos a
los movimientos sociales actuales Área de la Bahía, y se comparten reflexiones
personales sobre la injusticia que quieren corregir, cómo planean hacerlo, y
cuáles son las cualidades personales son necesarias para tener éxito contra todos
los pronósticos difíciles. Los estudiantes han preparado un cartel, sitio web, y el
discurso para explicar su trabajo.
Pedimos que cada estudiante trae al menos una persona de su familia o
comunidad. Le pedimos que, si es posible, cada familia trae un plato para
compartir, o voluntarios para ayudar en el evento.
