Vorwort zur zweiten Auflage
Die Sprache ist insbesondere in diesem Jahrhundert immer stärker von der in alle Lebensbereiche eindringenden Technik beeinflusst worden. Dies gilt auch für den großen Bereich des Verpackungswesens, der in den letzten Jahrzehnten zu besonderer volkswirtschaftlicher und betriebswirtschaftlicher
Bedeutung gewachsen ist.
Viele hundert Termini technici werden täglich benutzt, oft mit von Branchen zu Branchen, sogar von
Unternehmen zu Unternehmen und selbst innerhalb einzelner Unternehmen verschiedenen Bedeutungen. Umso bedeutsamer ist die Zuordnung der Benennungen zu anderen Sprachen, die durch die zunehmende Verflechtung der Wirtschaft und der Wissenschaft, nicht nur im gemeinsamen europäischen
Markt, sondern in der gesamten Welt, einfach unerlässlich ist, um sinnvolle Verständigung in allen Bereichen des Verpackungswesens, in der Waren- und Materialwirtschaft, beim Einkauf und Verkauf, in
Technik und Versand, zu erleichtern und auch der dazugehörigen elektronischen Datenverarbeitung
eine Grundlage zu geben, ganz abgesehen von der Nutzung der internationalen Fachliteratur und bei
Recherchen.
Diese Erkenntnisse führten bereits 1951 zur Gründung einer Arbeitsgruppe „Terminologie Verpackung"
in der Rationalisierungs-Gemeinschaft Verpackung (RGV) des RKW und zu enger Zusammenarbeit in
terminologischen Fragen innerhalb der European Packaging Federation (EPF). Die erste dreisprachige
Veröffentlichung des Fachwörterbuches Verpackung (erste Auflage 1968, zweite verbesserte Auflage
1971) wurde so gut aufgenommen, dass schon bald darauf eine weitere Auflage, nunmehr in sechs
Sprachen, erfolgen konnte.
Seitdem sind durch den technischen Fortschritt im Verpackungswesen mehrere hundert neue Termini
technici hinzugekommen, so dass es höchste Zeit wurde, eine gründliche Überarbeitung und Ergänzung vorzunehmen. Dies wurde durch die inzwischen im Deutschen Institut für Normung (DIN) fortgeführten Arbeiten der Arbeitsgruppe „Terminologie Verpackung", verstärkt durch Experten aus
Österreich und der Schweiz, erleichtert, die zur Norm DIN 55405 „Begriffe für das Verpackungswesen"
führten, deren Inhalt mit der österreichischen Norm A 5405 identisch ist. Leider hat die Internationale
Standardisierungs-Organisation (ISO) ihre Arbeiten auf diesem Gebiet nicht fortgesetzt. umso bedeutsamer ist deshalb das nunmehr aktualisiert vorliegende Fachwörterbuch Verpackung für alle am Verpackungswesen interessierten Kreise der Wirtschaft und der Wissenschaft. Dank gilt allen, die an
diesem Werk mitgearbeitet haben, insbesondere dem inzwischen verstorbenen Initiator und ersten Herausgeber Johannes Hoffmann.
Für den deutschsprachigen Raum sind die Normen DIN 55 405/A 5405 insofern als wertvolle Ergänzung zu empfehlen, als dort neben den Benennungen auch die Definitionen, also die Begriffserläuterungen, nachzulesen sind. Deren Aufnahme hätte den Umfang des vorliegenden Werkes gesprengt
und ist außerdem durch die noch ausstehende Abstimmung mit den anderen Sprachräumen nicht möglich.

Preface to the second edition
Our language has been influenced increasingly, in this century in particular, by modern technology intruding into all sectors of life. This also applies to the extensive area of packaging which has grown in
political and industrial importance during recent decades.
Hundreds of technical terms are in daily use, often with different meanings in various industrial sectors,
or from one company to another, and sometimes even within a single company.
Taking into account the increasing interplay between economy aid science not only in the European
Community but all over the world, the definition and classification of these technical terms in other languages is therefore of increasing importance, if not indispensable, for a meaningful understanding between all the sectors of the packaging industry, for product and material organisation, purchasing and
sales, engineering and distribution, as well as forming a basis for electronic data processing and research. This must be seen in addition to the use of international trade literature.
This realisation led to the foundation of a working party "Terminology Packaging" in the Rationalisierungs-Gemeinschaft Verpackung (RGV) within the Rationalisierungs-Kuratorium der Deutschen
Wirtschaft e. V. (RKW) as early as 1951, and to close cooperation in matters of terminology within the
European Packaging Federation (EPF). The first publication in three languages of the Dictionary of
Packaging (first edition 1968, second improved edition 1971) was received so well that the next edition
soon followed, this time in six languages.
Since then technical progress in the field of packaging has resulted in hundreds of new words, making
a fundamental revision and extension urgently necessary.
This has been facilitated by the work carried out by the Packaging Terminology Working Pay of the German Institute for Standardisation (DIN) augmented by experts from Austria and Switzerland. This culminated in Standard DIN 55405 "Begriffe für das Verpackungswesen", "Packaging concepts", the
contents of which are identical with the Austrian Standard A 5405. Unfortunately the International
Standardisation Organisation (ISO) has not continued its work in this field.
This revised and updated Dictionary of Packaging is therefore of even greater significance to those in
industry and science concerned with packaging.
Thanks are due to all who cooperated in this work, especially to the initiator and first editor, the late
Johannes Hoffmann.
For German speaking countries, the standards DIN 55405/A 5405 are recommended as a valuable
supplement since definitions are included in addition to the technical terms. To have included these in
the dictionary would have resulted in a prohibitive size and was also precluded by the lack of harmonisation with other languages.

Le langage – et ceci vaut surtout pour notre siècle -est de plus en plus influencé par la technique qui
s'introduit dans tous les secteurs de notre vie. Cela est également valable pour le grand domaine de
l'emballage qui, au cours des dernières décennies, a acquis de plus en plus d'importance dans la politique économique et commerciale.
Chaque jour, des centaines de termes techniques sont utitlisés souvent avec des significations qui diffèrent d'une branche à l'autre ou d'une société à l'autre et parfois dans la même entreprise. Déterminer
les termes correspondants dans les autres langues est d'autant plus important que ces correspondances sont devenues indispensables en raison de l'interdépendance grandissante entre l'économie et la
science, aussi bien au niveau du Marché Commun Européen que dans le monde entier, pour faciliter
une coopération rationnelle dans tous les secteurs de l'emballage, dans l'organisation des produits et
des matériaux, au niveau de l'achat et de la vente, de la production et de l'expédition et aussi pour la
création d'une base pouvant servir au traitement électronique de l'information et aux recherches, sans
oublier l'exploitation de la littérature spécialisée internationale.
Ces constatations ont conduit dès 1951 à la constitution d'un groupe de travail „Terminologie Emballage" au sein de la Rationalisierungsgemeinschaft Verpackung („RGV") du Rationalisierungs-Kuratorium der Deutschen Wirtschaft („RKW") et à une collaboration étroite avec la section terminologique de
la European Packaging Federation („EPF"). La première publication du Dictionnaire de l'emballage en
trois langues (lère édition 1968, 2e édition revue et améliorée en 1971) a été si bien accueillie qu'une
nouvelle édition, cette fois en six langues, a pu suivre très vite.
Depuis cette parution, les progrès techniques réalisés dans le domaine de l'emballage ont entraîné
l'apparition de plusieurs centaines de termes techniques nouveaux, si bien qu'il a été indispensable de
procéder rapidement à une profonde révision et à un complément de l'ouvrage.
Cette tâche a été facilitée par les travaux du groupe de travail „Terminologie de l'Emballage" qui ont
été continués par l'Institut Allemand pour la Standardisation („DIN") auquel des experts autrichiens et
suisses ont prêté leur concours. Ces travaux ont abouti à la norme DIN 55405 „Notions pour le Domaine de l'Emballage" dont le contenu est identique à la norme autrichienne A 5405. Malheureusement,
l'Organisation Internationale de Standardisation („ISO") n'a pas poursuivi ses travaux en cette matière.
Le présent Dictionnaire de l'Emballage actualisé en est donc d'autant plus significatif pour quiconque
s'intéresse à l'emballage dans l'industrie et la science.
Nos remerciements vont à tous ceux qui ont collaboré à cet ouvrage, particulierement à M. Johannes
Hoffmann, l'initiateur et premier éditeur, décédé entretemps.
Pour les pays germanophones, on peut recommander les normes DIN 55405/A 5405 comme suppléments valables, parce qu'on y trouve et les termes et leurs définitions, c.-à-d. les explications des notions. Nous n'avons pas pu les inclure dans ce livre qui serait alors devenu trop volumineux et ceci
n'aurait pas été possible non plus en raison du manque d'harmonisation avec les autres aires linguistiques.

Prefazione alla seconda edizione
Soprattutto nel ventesimo secolo la lingua è stata crescentemente influenzata dalla tecnica, che ormai
è penetrata in ogni ambiente. Ciò vale anche per il vasto settore dell'imballaggio, che negli ultimi decenni ha acquisito particolare importanza dal punto di vista sia dell'economia politica che di quella
aziendale.
Ogni giorno vengono utilizzate diverse centinaia di termini tecnici, il cui significato spesso varia di branca in branca, di azienda in azienda e persino all'interno delle singole aziende. Diventa quindi ancora
più significativo un coordinamento dei vocaboli nelle altre lingue che, per la crescente compenetrazione
di economia e scienza, è diventato realmente indispensabile non solo nel mercato comune europeo
ma in tutto il mondo per facilitare il raggiungimento di una opportuna concordanza in tutti i settori dell'imballaggio, nel ciclo commerciale e in quello produttivo, nell'acquisto e nella vendita, nella tecnica e nella
spedizione, e anche per creare i presupposti per la relativa elaborazione elettronica dei dati, a prescindere dall'utilizzo che se ne può fare nella bibliografia tecnica internazionale e nella ricerca.
Queste considerazioni portarono già nel 1951 alla creazione di un gruppo di lavoro sulla „Terminologia
dell'Imballaggio" nell'ambito della Rationalisierungs-Gemeinschaft Verpackung (Organizzazione per la
Razionalizzazione nell'Imballaggio + RGV) e ad una più stretta collaborazione all'interno della European Packaging Federation (Federazione Europea dell'Imballaggio + EPF) per quanto riguarda i problemi
terminologici.
La prima versione in tre lingue del Dizionario Tecnico dell'Imballaggio (prima edizione 1968, seconda
edizione riveduta e corretta 1971) ricevette un'accoglienza così positiva che poté essere seguita in brevissimo tempo da un'ulteriore edizione già in sei lingue.
Da allora, a causa dei progressi tecnici conseguiti gel campo dell'imballaggio, si sono aggiunte altre
centinaia di nuovi termini tecnici, per cui era veramente ora che venisse intrapresa una rielaborazione
radicale e un'integrazione del dizionario. Questo compito è stato agevolato dagli studi portati avanti
all'interno del Deutsches Institut für Normung (Instituto Tedesco per la Normalizzazione + DIN) dal
gruppo di lavoro sulla „Terminologia dell'Imballaggio" ampliato in modo da comprendere anche esperti
austriaci e svizzeri, studi che hanno portato alla creazione della Norma DIN 55 405 „Imballaggio, i concetti", il cui contenuto è identico alla Norma A 5405 austriaca. Purtroppo l'International Standardisation
Organisation (Organizzazione Internazionale per la Standardizzazione + ISO) non ha continuato i propri lavori in questo campo. La versione aggiornata del Dizionario Tecnico dell'Imballaggio diventa quindi tanto più importante per tutti i settori dell'economia e della scienza collegati all'imballaggio.
Un ringraziamento va a tutti coloro che hanno collaborato a quest'opera, e in particolare al suo promotore e primo curatore Johannes Hoffmann, purtroppo nel frattempo defunto.
A tutt'oggi le Norme DIN 55 405/austriaca 5405 costituiscono un prezioso completamento per quanto
riguarda la sezione in lingua tedesca, dato che esse contengono non solo i termini specifici ma anche
le loro definizioni, ovvero le spiegazioni dei concetti a cui si riferiscono. L'inserimento di quest'ultime
nel Dizionario Tecnico è stato reso impossibile non solo da problemi di mole eccessiva dell'opera in
questione, ma anche dalla mancanza di concordanza che ne sarebbe risultata tra la sezione relativa
alla lingua tedesca e quelle relative alle altre lingue.

Prólogo a la segunda edición
El idioma, especialmente durante éste siglo, y en toda clase de actividades, se ha visto fuertemente
influenciado por la técnica. Así ha ocurrido también en el amplio sector de la Ciencia y de la Técnica
del Envase y Embalaje, que en los últimos decenios, se ha desarrollado de forma muy importante, en
la socio-economía y en la economía empresarial.
Muchos cientos de términos técnicos, utilizados diariamente en distintos sectores y entre ellos entre
sí, así como entre las empresas e incluso dentro de las mismas empresas, pueden tener distintos significados. Asimismo es importante la clasificación de los significados en otros idiomas, para en el entramado de la Economía y de la Ciencia lograr y facilitar el entendimiento, no sólo en el mercado común
europeo, sino en todo el mundo, cosa que es indispensable en todos los campos de la Ciencia y de la
Técnica del Envase y Embalaje, en la economía de las mercancías, de los materiales, en las compras
y en las ventas, en la expedición; todo ello, para el mejor y más claro entendimiento, no sólo de los
términos que es preciso aplicar correctamente teniendo en cuenta el uso de los medios electrónicos
existentes para la utilización de datos, sino para la correcta utilización de la literatura técnica internacional, y en los trabajos de investigación.
El reconocimiento de ésta necesidad provocó, ya en 1951, la creación del Grupo de Trabajo „Terminología del Envase y Embalaje" en la Asociación para la Racionalización del Envase y Embalaje (RGV)
del R.K.W. (Consejo para la Racionalización de la Economía), que mantuvo siempre una estrecha colaboración, en cuanto a problemas de terminología, con la Federación Europea del Envase y Embalaje
(E.P.F.) (Europeas Packaging Federation). La publicación del primer Diccionario técnicopolíglota del
envase y embalaje en tres idiomas, (primera edición, 1968; segunda edición, mejorada, 1971), tuvo
tanta aceptación que se prosiguió con una nueva edición, esta vez en seis idiomas.
Desde entonces, los nuevos desarrollos de la Ciencia y la Tecnología del Envase y Embalaje han aportado centenares de nuevos términos técnicos, de tal manera que llegó un momento en el que hubo que
realizar un trabajo profundo y metódico para editar un suplemento. Este esfuerzo se vio reforzado con
los trabajos del grupo de trabajo del Instituto Alemán de Normalización (DIN) y con expertos de Austria
y Suiza, elaborándose la norma DIN 55Æ2405 „Ciencia del envase y embalaje: terminología", cuyo
contenido es idéntico al de la norma austriaca A-5405. Desgraciadamente la Organización Internacional de Normalización (ISO) no ha proseguido sus trabajos en este campo.
Por ello es importante poder disponer desde ahora de este Diccionario Técnico Políglota del envase y
embalaje, para todos los interesados en su Ciencia y Tecnología en los distintos círculos de la Economía y de la Ciencia.
Gracias a todos los que han colaborado en la realización de ésta obra y en especial a su fallecido iniciador y primer editor, Johannes Hoffmann.
Para la área geográfica de habla alemana las normas DIN 55405 y A 5405 son un complemento altamente recomendable, ya que en ellas pueden encontrarse junto a los términos, definiciones y aclaraciones terminológicas del mayor valor. Su alcance ha producido la extensión de esta obra, su sintonía
con otros idiomas y sus correspondientes áreas geográficas, ya que sin ellas no habría sido posible.

На язык все возрастающее влияние оказывала и оказывает проникающая во все сферы жизни
техника. Это также относится к большой области упаковки, которая за последние десятилетия
приобрела особое значение как для народного хозяйства в целом, так и для отдельного
предприятия.
Ежедневно употребляют сотни технических терминов, причем их нередко толкуют по-разному в
разных отраслях, на разных предприятиях и даже на одном и том же предприятии. Тем
значительнее отнесение названий к другим языкам; оно просто необходимо, чтобы при все
усиливающемся сплетении экономики и науки - не только на общеевропейском рынке, но во
всем мире - облегчать толковое общение во всех областях упаковки, в товарном и
материальном хозяйстве, при закупке и продаже, в технике и при отправке, а также создать базу
для принадлежащей к этому электронной обработки данных, не говоря уже об использовании
международной специальной литературы и при поисках.
Когда это было осознано, уже в 1957г. была создана рабочая группа "Терминология в области
упаковки" ("Terminologie Verpackung") в объединении по рационализации в области упаковки
Кураториума по рационализации немецкой экономики (Rationalisierungs-Gemeinschaft
Verpackung (RGV) des Rationalisierungs-Kuratoriums dег deutschen Wirtschaft (RKW)) и началось
тесное сотрудничество по вопросам терминологии в рамках Европейской Федерации по
упаковке (Euroреап Packaging Federation (EPF)).
Первая публикация специального словаря "Упаковка" на трех языках (первое издание в 1968г.,
второе, усовершенствованное издание в 1971г.) нашла такой отклик, что скоро появилось новое
издание - на этот раз на шести языках.
C тех пор благодаря техническому прогрессу в области упаковки число технических терминов
увеличилось на несколько сот, так что стало крайне необходимо переработать и дополнить
словарь. Это было облегчено работами, которые тем временем продолжались в Германском
комитете по стандартизации (Deutsches lnstitut fr Normung (DIN)) рабочей группой
"Терминология в области упаковки" и экспертами из Австрии и Швейцарии. Эти работы привели
к стандарту DIN 55 405 "Verpackungswesen. Begriffe" ("Упаковочная техникаЯ Определения"),
содержание которого идентично австрийскому стандарту A 5405. Международная организация
по стандартизации (lnternationale Standardisierungs-Organisation (IS0)), к сожалению, не
продолжала работы в этой области.
Тем значительнее поэтому для всех интересующихся упаковкой кругов экономики и науки
теперь существующий актуализованный специальный словарь по упаковке. Благодарность
заслуживают все, кто принял участие в этой работе, особеннно покойный зачинатель и первый
редактор словаря Йоханнес Хоффманн.
Для стран, где говорят на немецком языке, стандарты DIN 55 405/А 5405 представляют собой
ценное дополнение, так как в них, кроме названий, можно найти и определения понятии.
Включить последние объем настоящего словаря не позволил; это, кроме того, невозможно, пока
не проведено согласование со странами, где говорят на других языках.
