for small scale production of Ustilago, a fungus that grows in maize that is highly nutritive, and
is part of Mesoamerican diet since Prehispanic times. This project is being carrying in the
laboratory of the Emeritus Professor, Phd José Ruiz Herrera, National Mexican Sciences Prize
(1985) Ruth Allen Prize by the American Society of Phytopathology (1984) among other
international recognitions The management of present and future production of Ustilago is done
by the Mixtec Authorities of Santa María Cuquila, and with the community they are the only
beneficiaries of this project. The agreement states that fungus stump adapted in laboratory
conditions to the High Mixtec very poor nutritional soil in the Laboratory of Professor Ruiz by
designated from his Doctoral students and his technicians, whom also with give at no cost basic
training for the inoculation the fungus stump to Rural Technician Misael Melchor during three
weeks every year. Finally the fungus stump is also giving at no cost to this Mixtec Community.
All the cost is absorbed by Professor´s Ruiz Herrera Laboratory.

2012-2013 Project Support and design for the project “Recuperation and learning of Ngiigua
endanger language for Children in Santa María Nativitas, High Mixtec, Oaxaca, Mexico.
Collaborator Mr. Gil Heriberto Santiago Cruz (ngiigua native of this town) bilingual in Ngiigua
and Spanish. With financial support for digital equipment, puppet theatre, children learning
material, meals and children books for one hundred children from the community. The financial
support is manage only by the town authorities through an agreement with National Institute of
Indigenous Languages of Mexico (INALI)

2013 Project Support and design with Juan Manuel Costa, young animator and filmaker from
Argentina who is specialize in animation atelier for rural children:
“Step by Step dances
imagination, atelier of video animation for children in Santa Maria Cuquila, High Mixtec,
Oaxaca, México” The financial support is manage only by the town authorities through an
agreement with Professor Ethelia Ruiz Medrano, Professor Guilhem Olivier and Film maker
Juan Manuel Costa. Due to an administrative mistake from INALI, the project was already
approved since January 2013 but carless cancel just two months ahead of its realization, it´s
finally us who would pay for the project because it already has been officially announced to
Cuquila´s authorities.
2013-2014 Project Support and design along with young architects students from the Faculty of
Architecture, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)
Remodeling project in
regional traditional constructive style of The Community Museum of Santa Maria Cuquila, High
Mixtec Oaxaca. The architect planning was carry by the students at no cost (social service) The
financial support is the equivalent in Mexican peso of 19,000 dollars and will be given through
official agreement with the authorities of this town by the National Institute of anthropology and
History (INAH) Mexico in the month of June 2013. . The authorities of Santa María Cuquila are
the only ones who will manage the financial Project and contribute through communal free labor
and local building materials. The negotiation of this project took me three years of applied work
and I finally obtain it for benefit of the community. This was my project goal.
