15th Sunday in Ordinary Time
A Message from Father Blaise…
Next weekend we welcome to our parish
representatives from the Institute for Faith and
Life located in Romeoville, Illinois. They were
invited through the Diocese of Las Vegas as
part of the Mission Coop and were
assigned to our parish.
The Institute for Faith and Life is a national
non-profit Catholic leadership institute widely
recognized as the authority in the field of
Hispanic youth and young adult ministry in
the United States, and the leading agent in
bringing the Bible to young Latinos throughout
the Americas. The institute equips ministers,
young adult leaders, and parents to promote
evangelization and faith formation among
young Latinos, particularly in the United
States, by fostering their own development and
their mission in the Church and in the world.
The second collection will be sent to the
Institute for Faith and Life through the Diocese
to support their programs for the youth.

Feast of Our Lady of Mt. CarmelJuly 16th
Hermits lived on Mount Carmel near the Fountain of
Elijah in northern Israel in the 12th century. They had a
chapel dedicated to Our Lady. By the 13th century they
became known as “Brothers of Our Lady of Mount
Carmel.” They soon celebrated a special Mass and
Office in honor of Mary. In 1726 it became a celebration
of the
universal Church under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. For
centuries the Carmelites have seen themselves as specially related to
Mary.
There is a tradition--which may not be historical--that Mary
appeared to St. Simon Stock, a leader of the Carmelites, and gave
him a scapular, telling him to promote devotion to it. The scapular is a
modified version of Mary’s own garment. It symbolizes her special
protection and calls the wearers to consecrate themselves to her in a
special way. The scapular reminds us of the gospel call to prayer and
penance—a call that Mary models in a splendid way.

BAPTISMS: Register at the Parish Office 2 months in advance.
Baptisms in Spanish are on the first Saturday of the month at 2pm.
English Baptisms are on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of the month at
Noon. Required Baptism classes are held on the 4thThursday of the
month from 6:00-9pm in Bunkerville.
MARRIAGES: Please contact the Parish Office six months in
advance to schedule an appointment with Fr. Blaise. Marriages
scheduled in Spanish by Deacon Jaime are held on the last Saturday
of the month.
QUINCEAÑERAS: Register at the Parish Office 6 months in
advance. A deposit is required at the time of registration.
Quinceañeras in Spanish are held on the last Saturday of the month at
12Noon. Quinceañeras in English are on Saturdays at Noon. The
young woman and her parents are required to meet with the Priest or
Deacon one month prior to the celebration.
FUNERAL MASS: Contact Parish Office for a date and time if not
already arranged through the mortuary. You will then be contacted by
our Funeral Mass Coordinator to arrange music and readings.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK/HOMEBOUND: To arrange
Communion to the sick or homebound or to receive the Sacrament of
the Anointing of the Sick for someone on Hospice, seriously ill, the
elderly or anyone scheduled for surgery call the Parish Office.
SACRAMENT SPONSORSHIP For letter of permission to
sponsor someone for a Sacrament contact the Parish Office.
WELCOME! If new to our parish fill out a Parish Registration form
located on the wall in the vestibule and drop it in the Drop Box.
PROMISE TO PROTECT: If you have been abused or
victimized by someone representing the Catholic Church, a Victim

ESPIRITUALIDAD DEL ESCAPULARIO
A lo largo de los siglos son innumerables los fieles que han llevado el escapulario
como signo de su amor a María. También
son numerosos los prodigios y conversiones
que la Virgen ha realizado entre los que
llevan con fe y devoción esta prenda tan humilde.
El Papa Benedicto XVI afirmó : «El escapulario es un
signo particular de la unión con Jesús y María. Para aquellos
que lo llevan constituye un signo del abandono filial y de confianza en la protección de la Virgen Inmaculada. En nuestra batalla contra el mal, María, nuestra Madre, nos envuelve con su
manto». El escapulario es un llamamiento a hacer de la
devoción de María «un estilo de vida cristiana, entretejido de
oración y vida interior».

Un mensaje del Padre Blaise…
El próximo fin de semana recibiremos en nuestra parroquia representantes del Instituto de
Fe y Vida ubicado en Romeoville, Illinois.
La Diócesis de Las Vegas los invitó como
parte de la Cooperativa de Misión y se les
asignó nuestra parroquia.
El Instituto para Fe y Vida es un instituto
nacional de liderazgo católico sin fines de lucro,
ampliamente reconocido como la autoridad en
el campo de lministerio para jóvenes y jóvenes
adultos hispanos en los Estados Unidos y el
agente principal en llevar la Biblia a los jóvenes
latinos a través de las Américas. El instituto
capacita a ministros, jóvenes adultos líderes y a
padres para promover la evangelización y formación de fe entre j jóvenes latinos, particularmente en los Estados Unidos, fomentando su
propio desarrollo y su Misión en la iglesia y en
el mundo. La diócesis enviará la segunda colecta al Instituto para Fe y Vida para apoyar
sus programas para los jóvenes.

Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo
Julio 16
En el siglo 12, ermitaños vivieron en el Monte
Carmelo cerca de la Fuente de Elijah en la parte norte
de Israel. Ellos tenían una capilla dedicada a Nuestra
Señora. Para el siglo 13, se les conocían como los
“Hermanos de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo”.
Ellos celebraron pronto una Misa y ministerio
especial en honor a María. En 1726 esto se convirtió en una celebración de la iglesia universal con el título de Nuestra Señora del
Monte Carmelo. Por siglos los Carmelitas se han sentido especialmente relacionados a María.
Hay una tradición--que puede no ser histórica--que María se
apareció a St. Simon Stock, un líder de los Carmelitas, y le dió un
escapulario, pidiéndole que promoviera la devoción a ello. El escapulario es una version modificada del vestuario de María y simboliza su
protección especial y le pide a los que lo llevan a consagrarse a ella
en una forma especial. El escapulario nos recuerda de la penitencia,
