THE REAL NUMBER LINE

Real Numbers-numbers that can be pictured as points on a
horizontal line called the real number line

The three dots on each side in the list above indicate that the list continues in
both directions without end. Integer immediately to the left of –3 is –4.

-3 can be stated: negative three or the opposite of 3
***Never assume that –a is a negative number:
if a = -2, then –a = - (-2) = 2***
