Whether called Bangalore or the new name Bengaluru (Behngah-loo-roo), the nickname of the city of Bangalore, India, is
The Garden City. It has many beautiful parks. It is on the
Mysore Plateau in the southwestern part of Karnataka state.
It has more than 6.1 million people. The area was part of the
Ganga Dynasty until A.D. 1004. Its written history began in
1537 when Kempe Gowda I built a fort and made the city part
of the Vijayanagara Empire. Later it was ruled by other
empires including the British Empire from 1799 until 1947
when India became independent.

apodo de la ciudad de Bangalore, India, es La Ciudad de
Jardines. Tiene muchos parques hermosillos. Esta en la
Meseta de Nysore en la parte suroeste del estado de
Karnataka. Tiene mas de 6.1 millones de personas. La area
fue parte de la Dinastia Ganga hasta A.D. 1004. Su historia
escrita empezo en 1537 cuando Kempe Gowda I construyo una

Bangalore has a good climate in contrast to many other cities.
Industries include aerospace, military defence and computer
technology. Hindu is the most common religion. Hindi,
Kannada, Tamil, Telegu, and English are spoken.

otras ciudades. Industrias incluyen aeroespacial, fuerzas

Companies in Bengalore include Hindustan Machine Tools,
National Aerospace Laboratories, Motor Industries Company,
ANZ Bank, Citibank and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Many
musical movies are produced. Many airlines use HAL Airport.

The 1996 Miss World contest was in Bangalore. The Rolling
Stones have performed. Some people in Bengalore dislike the
Western influences. Vehicles include small Autorickshaws.
Indian Railways connects Bangalore to India’s capital, New
Delhi. Bangalore has some problems with traffic, air pollution,
garbage and crime.

Restaurants serve Indian, Chinese and Western foods. Cricket
is popular. There are jacaranda trees with purple flowers,
pink cassias, golden acacias, and orange gulmohurs. Animals
in the area include elephants, baboons, monkeys, and
crocodiles.
