Rodríguez-Bigas Summary: Resumen: Surgery is the primary treatment for patients with localized colorectal cancer. In his lecture, “Colorectal Cancer Survivorship: The Role of Surgery in the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer,” Dr. Miguel Rodriguez-Bigas, Professor of Surgical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, describes and illustrates the types of bowel resection used for the treatment of colorectal cancer. Dr. Rodriguez-Bigas also discusses intestinal diversions and metastasectomy for the treatment of patients with advanced disease.
