“Cambio Climático: el Gran Reto de la Sociedad Actual”
Propuesta de ponentes:
Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, (nacido el 20 de agosto de 1940, Nainital, India) es un economista y presidente del
Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Climático (IPCC), desde 2002. Pachauri es el director general de The Energy and Resources Institute de Nueva Delhi, institución dedicada a la investigación y promoción
del desarrollo sostenible y rector de la Universidad de TERI. También es el presidente, del Consejo Nacional de
gobernadores Agro Foundation (NAF), así como presidente de la junta directiva de la Universidad de Columbia
del Instituto Internacional de Investigación del Clima y la Sociedad.
Recientemente fue galardonado con el segundo premio civil más alto en la India, el Padma Vibhushan en enero
de 2008, así como el Padma Bhushan en enero de 2001. El 10 de diciembre de 2007, el Dr. Pachauri fue galardonado con el premio Nobel de la Paz en nombre de la IPCC, junto con Al Gore.
Vandana Shiva: es una mujer comprometida con su tiempo: física teórica, pacifista, seguidora de Ghandi, premio Nobel alternativo y premio Vida Sana 1993, ha escrito multitud de libros. Ha sido capaz de movilizar en la
India 5 millones de campesinos contra la Unión General de Tarifas de Comercio (GAT) y de ponerse a la cabeza
de la gran movilización en contra de la globalización del comercio en Seattle a finales de 1999. Fundadora de
Navdaya un movimiento social de mujeres para proteger la diversidad y la integridad de los medios de vida, especialmente las semillas. Es directora de la Fundación de Investigaciones para Políticas de Ciencia, Tecnología y
Recursos Naturales, de la India; Visiting Fellow, Universidad de Oslo, Noruega. Es co-autora del libro “Ecofeminismo”. Participó en el movimiento Chipko no violencia durante la década de 1970, cuyos principales participantes
eran mujeres que adoptaron la táctica de abrazar los árboles para impedir su tala. Ella es una de los líderes del
Foro Internacional sobre Globalización, (junto con Jerry Mander, Edward Goldsmith, Ralph Nader, Jeremy Rifkin,
et al.), y una figura del movimiento de solidaridad mundial conocido como el movimiento alter-globalización.
Ha abogado por la sabiduría de muchas prácticas tradicionales.

Nutall- Director de la Plataforma de Partenariados Innovadores PNUD Oficina Regional Ginebra. Responsable de
la promoción con nuevos partenariados del programa sobre cambio climático impulsado por Naciones Unidas).
Doctor en Ciencias Humanas en el campo del desarrollo.Trabajó en el CNES (Agencia Espacial Francesa),Ministerio
de Asuntos Exteriores Francés y formó parte de UNITAR (Instituto de las Naciones Unidas para la Formación y
la Investigación), como encargado del área de la sociedad de la información. En agosto de 2005 se incorporó al
UNPD, donde ocupa el cargo de Director de Partenariado Innovadores.
Europa - Red Metrex(Red de Regiones de Áreas Metropolitanas Europeas) -Silvia Schreyber- La Red METREX,
cuenta con 49 socios entre administraciones regionales, provinciales y municipales europeas, pudiendo destacarse a Atenas, Barcelona, Bayona-San Sebastián, Bilbao, Cracovia, Estocolmo, Glasgow, Helsinki, Londres, Milán,
Munich, Roma, Sttutgart, Turín o Venecia. Los objetivos de esta red son facilitar el intercambio de información

Unidas para Europa) Se incorporó el PNUMA en junio de 2007 con más de 27 años de experiencia en el sistema
de las Naciones Unidas, y ha ocupado puestos de responsabilidad, en los planos nacional, regional y mundial.
Christophe ha gestionado y supervisado operaciones complejas con un gran número de socios, ya sea internacional o local, pública o privada. Es conocido por sus habilidades como negociador y administrador, y un
liderazgo fuerte. Su último cargo fue el de Asesor Superior Estratégico para el PNUD en Iraq y, como tal, facilitó
por primera vez en varios años el programa del PNUD para Iraq en décadas, incluyendo en el conjunto PNUD /
PNUMA el medio ambiente como pilar.

“Climate Change: The Great Challenge of Our Day “
Proposed speakers:
Rajandra Kumar Pachauri (20 agoust 1940, Nainital, India) is an economist and president of Intergovernmental
group of Experts about Climatic Change (IPCC), since 2002. Pachauri is the General Director of The Energy and
Resources Institute of Delhi, dedicated to investigate and promote the sustainable development. She is the
rector of University of TERI. She is too the President of the National Governments gabinet Agro Foundation
(NAF) and the president of the directive committee of Columbia University and the International Institute of
investigation of climate and society.
Recently, he won the second most important civil price in India, Padma Vibhushan, in January 2009, as well as
Padma Bhusham in January 2001. 10th December of 2007, Dr. Pachauri was awarded with the Peace Novel price
on behalf of IPCC, with Al Goore.
Vandana Shiva is a woman engaged with her time: theoretical physicist, pacifist, supporter of Ghandi, a winner
of alternative Novel prize and Healthy Life prize in1993, she has written a lot of books. Able to move 5 millions
of farms in India against General Union of Trade Taxes (GAT) and put her self on top of the big mobilisation
against globalization trade in Seattle at the end of 1999. She founded the Navdaya women social movement for
protecting the biodiversity and the integrity of its resources, specially the seeds. She is a director of the Indian
Investigation Fund for Science, Technology and Natural recourse policies; “Visiting Fellow”, University of Oslo,
Norway. She is a co-author of the book “Ecofeminism”. She participated in the movement “Chipko no violence”,
during the seventies, whose participants were women which adopted the tree hugging tactic against the tree
cutting. Together with Jerry Mander, Edward Goldsmith, Ralph Nader and other, she is one of the leaders of the
International Globalization Forum and an important figure of the world solidarity movement known as the
alter-globalization movement. She has supported the use of traditional practices.

Proposed speakers:
International IPCC -José Manuel Moreno- Professor of Ecology of University of Castilla-La Mancha, was elected
a member of IPCC (La Mesa del Panel Intergubernamental de Cambio Climático), whose mission is to elaborate
the V Evaluation Report in the next four years.
UNEP Director for Europe. Christophe Bouvier, a national of France, is the Director of UNEP’s Regional Office
for Europe.
He joined UNEP in June 2007 with more than 27 years of experience within the United Nations system, and has
held posts at increasing levels of responsibility, at country, regional and global levels. Christophe has managed
and supervised complex operations involving a multiplicity of partners, whether international or local, public or
private. He is known for his skills as negotiator and manager, and strong leadership. He received the UNOPS joint
Staff Council/Executive award for best human resources management in 1996.
His latest position was that of Senior Strategic Advisor on Iraq for UNDP and as such facilitated the first multiyear UNDP country programme for Iraq in decades, including a joint UNDP/UNEP emergency and environment
pillar.
