EL EFECTO DEL ESTRÉS PRENATAL EN EL CEREBRO Francisco Aboitiz Background Prenatal stress is a risk factor for the development of mood and cognitive disorders as major depression (Markham and Koening, 2011) and ADHD (Linnet et al, 2003) These alterations could be related to the impairment of the development of the neural systems involved on emotional and/or cognitive memories (Charil et al, 2010). Hippocampus: episodic and spatial memory. Amygdala: emotional memories. The effects of prenatal stress could be related to alterations in the development of neural circuitry. The effect of prenatal stress are related with alterations on the expression of reelin? Neuropsychobiology. 2012;66(1):57-62. Decreased reelin expression in the left prefrontal cortex (BA9) in chronic schizophrenia patients. Habl G et al. Fig. 6. Prenatal stress decreases the total time in the open arms of the elevated plus-maze. Values are mean ± SEM, n = 11 rats per group. Ismael Palacios, Ariel Lara PROTOCOLO DE ESTRÉS PRENATAL Estrés prenatal: mayor “ansiedad” y déficit en consolidación de memoria emocional en el animal adulto Fig. 5. Prenatal stress increases the spontaneous rearing (a) and spontaneous locomotor activity (b) responses in adult rats (P60). Values are mean ± SEM, n =9 Fig. 7a Passive avoidance learning retention test in rats. There were significant differences in latency time between control and prenatally stressed rats, on days four and five post shock. b Morris maze test in rats. There were no significant differences in latency time between control and prenatally stressed rats. Each point represents mean ± SEM 11 rats per group. El estrés prenatal induce una disminución de los niveles de reelina. Muerte neuronal o disminución de la expresión?? Fig. 3. Cerebral cortex reelin immunohistochemistry. Microphotographies of the dorsal tier of frontal (a, b), and retrosplenial (c, d) cortical levels. Control brains (a, c) show numerous clusters of Cajal-Retzius neurons while the stress groups (b, d) show only few isolated Cajal-Retzius neurons. Scale bars = 50 µm. El RNA mensajero de reelina y el de otros componentes de la misma vía de señalización También están disminuídos rats per group. El estrés prenatal induce un aumento de la metilación del promotor de reelina Oscillatory activity Oscillatory activity in the hippocampus and the amygdala are involved in the consolidation of memories (Vertés, 2005; Pelletier and Paré, 2005). It is unknown the effect of prenatal stress on oscillatory activity in the hippocampus and amygdala. Ignacio Negrón/ Pablo Fuentealba Methods Experimental design Barnes Maze (spatial memory) Estrés Prenatal sobre la memoria en el animal adulto No hay extinción de memorias aversivas Se estudia la capacidad de memoria y la actividad cerebral en ratas adultas que sufrieron estrés en el período fetal EN ADULTOS SOMETIDOS A ESTRÉS PRENATAL NO HAY AUMENTO DE LA TASA DE DESCARGA EN LA CORTEZA PREFRONTAL DURANTE LA ACTIVACIÓN DE MEMORIAS REMOTAS …Y DISMINUYE EL ACOPLAMIENTO ENTRE NEURONAS DEL HIPOCAMPO Y LA CORTEZA CEREBRAL DICHO ACOPLAMIENTO SE CORRELACIONA INVERSAMENTE CON EL DESEMPEÑO EN LA TAREA DE MEMORIA ESPACIAL
