on these special feast days.
POPE BENEDICT XVI
Every time we turn on the news, we hear about all the
horrible things that are happening in the world. We get
the message that life is a meaningless struggle and that
we have no purpose, no reason to be here except to get as
much as we can before we die. How sad is that? As
Christians, however, we know that God does have a
purpose for each of us and for our lives.
Consider how God’s plan of salvation (as summed up
in the Creed) gives us the true plot to our lives.
God created us to know him and love him. In the
beginning, humanity lived in perfect harmony with God
and each other.
But man and woman sinned by
disobeying God and refusing to give themselves in love.
This “original sin” not only broke the harmony with God,
but also within humanity, and left us with an inclination
toward sin (called concupiscence). God sent his Son Jesus
to die for our sins and offer the perfect gift of love that
restores us to the Father. And he sent the Holy Spirit to
fill us with his very life. The Catholic Church passes on
the teachings of Christ and, through the sacraments,
dispenses the graces he won for us on the cross.
The story of salvation has not been completely written
yet because each one of us has an imp0rtant role to play
in the story. The story will not be complete until the end
of time. Now is your time to enter the story of salvation.
What might you be putting off with regard to your faith?
Is God asking you to do something right now? If you have
been reluctant or afraid to commit your life to Jesus,
spend some time pondering the reasons why. Are you
afraid of what your friends or members of your family
might say? Pray with the father who asked Jesus to cure
his son: “Lord, I believe. Help my disbelief!” MARK 9:24
Whether you are new to our church and would like to
start a journey to full communion into the Catholic
Church or whether you are just looking to deepen your
knowledge of the Church and your relationship with God,
we invite you to join us for Symbolon.

Cada vez que encendemos las noticias, escuchamos
sobre todas las cosas horribles que están sucediendo en
el mundo. Recibimos el mensaje de que la vida es una
lucha sin sentido y que no tenemos ningún propósito,
no hay razón para estar aquí, excepto para recibir todo
lo que pueda antes de morir. ¡Qué triste es eso? Como
cristianos, sin embargo, sabemos que Dios tiene un
propósito para cada uno de nosotros y para nuestras
vidas.
Considere cómo el plan de salvación de Dios (como
se resume en el Credo) nos da el verdadero plan para
nuestras vidas.
Dios nos ha creado para conocerlo y amarlo. En un
principio, la humanidad vivía en perfecta armonía con
Dios y entre sí. Pero el hombre y la mujer pecaron al
desobedecer a Dios y se niega a entregarse en el amor.
Este "pecado original" no sólo rompió la armonía con
Dios, sino también dentro de la humanidad, y nos dejó
con una inclinación hacia el pecado (llamada
concupiscencia). Dios envió a su Hijo Jesús a morir por
nuestros pecados y ofrecer el regalo perfecto de amor
que nos restaura al Padre. Y envió el Espíritu Santo para
que nos llene de su propia vida. La Iglesia Católica pasa
en las enseñanzas de Cristo y, a través de los
sacramentos, dispensa las gracias que ganó para
nosotros en la cruz.
La historia de la salvación no ha sido completamente
escrita todavía, ya que cada uno de nosotros tiene un
papel importante que desempeñar en la historia. La
historia no estará completa hasta que el final de los
tiempos. Ahora es el momento de entrar en la historia
de la salvación. ¿Qué podría usted estar poniendo con
respecto a su fe? ¿Dios te pide que hagas algo ahora
mismo? Si usted ha sido reacios o miedo de cometer su
vida a Jesús, pasar algún tiempo reflexionando sobre las
razones. ¿Tienes miedo de lo que sus amigos o
miembros de su familia podrían decir? Ora con el padre
que le preguntó a Jesús para curar a su hijo: "Señor, yo
creo. ¡Ayuda mi incredulidad!” Marcos 9:24

The Sunday after Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday!
Come to the Feast of Divine Mercy!
Jesus said that “the Feast of Mercy was a
refuge and shelter for all souls and
especially for poor sinners” (Diary 699).
Jesus told St. Faustina that this Feast of
Mercy would be a very special day when
“all the divine floodgates through which
graces flow are opened.” (Diary 699)
Our Lord made a great promise to all those souls who
would go to Confession and then receive Him in Holy
Communion on the Feast of Mercy, on the Sunday after
Easter, which is now called Divine Mercy Sunday
throughout the Catholic Church.

2015-2016 Religious Education News
Pre-Registration for 2015-2016 Religious Education season
will begin the First of May. Forms will be available in the
RE Center office and in the vestibule of the Church.
All children will be required to complete two years of
Religious Education to be eligible for Sacramental
Preparation. So if you would like your child to receive
their Confirmation in 2017 they need to be attending
Religious Education next fall.
Marriage, Divorce and the Catholic Church
Which of these statements are true?







A divorced person is automatically no allowed to
participate in mass.
An annulment makes children illegitimate.
Protestant marriages aren’t recognized because
they are outside the Church.
Your former spouse has to agree before you can
get an annulment.
A marriage with children cannot be annulled.
An affair is sufficient grounds for annulment.
An annulment is just “Catholic Divorce”
You may be surprised to learn that all are false.
We all know someone who thinks their marriage or
divorce is keeping them from joining their Catholic family
at the Eucharistic Table. Sometimes the answer to their
problem can be quite simple. Come and receive answers
to these questions.

Catholic Marriage and Annulments. She will be sharing
her own personal story of marriage, divorce and the
Catholic Church. She received her Tribunal Advocate
Training through the Archdiocese of Seattle.
