ADULT CHOIR – meets on Sundays at 11:30 am for
the 12 noon Mass and rehearse from 1pm—2pm. The
choir sings regularly at Sundays 12:00 noon Mass

Monday – February 9
HEALING MINISTRY
During Jesus’ ministry “he cured many who were sick with
various diseases, and he drove out many demons.” This is the
case in today’s Gospel. Jesus fulfills the vision of Psalm 147: “He
heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Jesus knew, however, that he couldn’t possibly heal all the
illness in the world. No matter how many people he cured or
how many hours he ministered, there always would be more
suffering people like Job who craved his healing touch. His
primary mission was not to rid the world of all suffering. His
“purpose” was to preach the coming of the reign of God that
heals, yes, but ultimately transcends and transforms earthly
suffering. With Paul, Jesus could have said, “Woe to me if I do
not preach” that good news.

FATHER JORGE GONZALEZ ... continues to attend to his wellness
issues ... if you would like to send him a card or a note, you can leave
the card or the note in the rectory and we will forward it with his

Orion, Michigan 48360 ... he will be at the clergy residence for several
more weeks. We remember him in our prayers and look forward to his
return to the parish.
TROUBLE WITH ENVELOPES ... many parishioners have come to
the rectory or have called Mary Anne, about envelopes ... we check
your address and your apartment number and we have the correct
mailing information ... we believe that the problem is with the Post
Office, especially 10462 and 10460 ... please contact the Post Office to
resolve your difficulties with the mail ... if you do not have printed
church envelopes, you can use a white envelope with your name and
NUMBER and it will be properly recorded ... Sorry for the
inconvenience but it is not on our end --- and we have called the Post
Office as well.
SUMMER PILGRIMAGE ... to Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France,
Monserrate in Spain and Barcelona ... leaves August 2 and returns on
August 12 ... JFK airport ... approximate cost is $4165 which includes
airfare, most meals, hotels, insurance, tips, etc ... please consider being
a pilgrim to these great shrines in honor of the Blessed Mother ... so
far, there are 12 pilgrims traveling with Monsignor Graham on this
religious and spiritual experience. Brochures are available at the back
of the church on the tables and in the rectory ... Registration forms are
included and deposits must be made by the end of April, 2015.

SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY ... Catholics should be married in
the Catholic Church with the Sacrament of Matrimony and a Mass ...

married in the Catholic Church, speak with Father Brogan about the
possibility of marriage in the Church through a convalidation process.
BAPTISMS ... are celebrated during each month here at St. Raymond's

First Communion and Confirmation and, if married, married in the

ASHES ... are a reminder to all of us that we will eventually die and
return to the earth … they remind us to change, to be different, to

into heaven ... if you wear the ashes, you are saying that you are a
follower of Jesus, that you will be doing penance for Lent and that you
practice your faith ... ashes are only a bit of dust but they are supposed
to mean so much!

THE CARDINAL'S CAMPAIGN FOR 2015 ... has started ... our goal
is $51,000 with 300 donors (new and old) ... you will be receiving

mother-in-law shows us that the Lord wants to lift us up out of
any despair that has set in. The Gospel is good news for us. If
today is a day when we are feeling particularly burdened by
illness or disappointment, let us, like the townspeople in today’s
Gospel story, bring our cares and gather them at the Lord’s
door. With hope, let us be attentive to the saving power of
God’s sacred word.

TODAY ... the church celebrates consecrated life (the sisters and the

Sisters of Charity (who have been at St. Raymond's since the 1860's) is
one religious community serving God and God's people here in New

HOW ABOUT THE BROTHERS? ... The De La Salle Brothers have
been a part of the parish since the 1860's as well and now they serve in
our Boys High School ... may be God is calling you to be a brother like
Brother Richard, Brother Vincent, Brother Richard LaLime , Brother
Robert or Brother David ... a great life and a wonderful service to the
Church as teachers.
Last Sunday, the Youth Group took
some time to relax after midterm exams. The group talked about stresses home, school, love, and the future. Following the discussion, everyone was
led in a guided meditation. Stresses
seemed to melt away as they everyone
centered themselves in God's holy
presence. The meditation concluded
with Pope Francis' "Five Finger
Prayer".
This week (2/8), the Youth GroupGOD’S WORD TODAY
“I shall not see happiness again.” With these words, Job
concludes his lament to the Lord. Job was obviously in the
depths of despair. His words echo the way we can feel when we
allow life’s struggles and disappointments to take hold of us.
The Lord Jesus, however, has something else in mind for us.
The simple story in Mark’s Gospel of the curing of Peter’s
heads to New Roc City for an activity
day of laser tag!! Students must
bring the signed permission slips and
$15 to attend. Please meet at 1pm in
the Youth Room. The bus leaves at
1:15!

SERVICIOS FUNERALES … ¿cuáles son sus deseos? … planes
funerarios deben hacerse de manera que cuando usted muera serán
honrados sus deseos ... los arreglos funerarios usuales incluyen un
velorio en una funeraria, misa en la iglesia y el entierro en un
cementerio católico ... cremación es generalmente después de la misa
funeraria con el entierro de las cenizas poco después (no se mantienen
en la casa) ... ¿cuáles son sus deseos?
SACRAMENTO DEL MATRIMONIO ... los católicos deben estar
casados en la Iglesia Católica con el sacramento del matrimonio y una
misa ... hablar con uno de los sacerdotes para planear su boda ... si
usted no está casado en la Iglesia Católica, hablar con el Padre Brogan
sobre la posibilidad de matrimonio en la Iglesia a través de un proceso
de convalidación.
LOS BAUTISMOS ... se celebran durante cada mes aquí en San
Ramón en Inglés y en Español ... los padres deben estar registrados
como miembros practicantes de la parroquia ... padrinos deben ser
bautizados, haber recibido la Primera Comunión y la Confirmación y,
si es casado, casado en la Iglesia Católica ... los padrinos necesitan
cartas de recomendación de su parroquia para confirmar que son
católicos practicantes ... como ustedes saben, los padrinos son modelos
de la fe y así tienen que ser practicante de la fe ... hablar con uno de los
sacerdotes para obtener información adicional acerca de los
certificados, clases y fechas.

REUNIÓN DE CONFIRMACIÓN PARA LOS PADRES DE LA
ESCUELA PRIMARIA ... cuyos hijos se preparan para el Sacramento
en la primavera ... el jueves, 12 de febrero a las 7 pm en el auditorio ...
todos deben asistir a esta importante reunión ... se tomará asistencia.
MIÉRCOLES DE CENIZA ... viene ... el miércoles, 18 de febrero ... el
comienzo de la Cuaresma ... nuestro horario será misas a las 7 am, 9
am en el auditorio con los estudiantes de la escuela primaria, 12 del
mediodía con la Academia, servicio de las 4 pm especialmente para los
estudiantes y padres de educación religiosa, 7 pm en español ... cenizas
serán distribuidas en todas las misas ... vamos a a tener nuestro
servicio final a las 8:30 pm y luego la iglesia estará cerrada.
LAS CENIZAS ... son un recordatorio para todos nosotros que con el
tiempo vamos a morir y volver a la tierra ... nos recuerdan a cambiar, a
ser diferentes, a practicar la oración, el ayuno y las buenas obras
durante los 40 días de la Cuaresma …las cenizas no son amuletos de la
suerte, vacunas o marcas de entrada en el cielo ... si usted usa las
cenizas, usted está diciendo que usted es un seguidor de Jesús, que va
a hacer penitencia por la Cuaresma y practicar su fe ... las cenizas son
sólo un poco de polvo, pero se supone que significan mucho!

embargo, el Señor Jesús tiene otros planes para nosotros. La sencilla
historia en el Evangelio de Marcos sobre la curación de la suegra de
Pedro nos demuestra que el Señor desea sacarnos de cualquier
desesperanza en que estemos hundidos. El Evangelio es una buena
nueva para nosotros. Si hoy es uno de esos días en que te sientes
particularmente agobiado por una enfermedad o una desilusión, igual
que sucedió con la gente del pueblo en la historia del Evangelio de
hoy, pon todas tus preocupaciones a los pies del Señor. Con esperanza,
pongamos atención al poder salvífico de la palabra sagrada de Dios.

MES DE LA HISTORIA AFRO-AMERICANA... vamos a celebrar
las contribuciones y la participación de nuestros feligreses
afroamericanos con una misa especial el domingo, 22 de febrero a las
12 del mediodía en la iglesia ... una recepción a seguir gracias al
Comité Africano ... todos son bienvenidos ... el coro de la Iglesia de
San José (Bathgate Avenue) se unirá a nosotros para la Misa.
ESTACIONES DE LA CRUZ ... durante la Cuaresma ... después de la

HOY … la iglesia celebra la vida consagrada (las hermanas y los
hermanos) … el Papa Francisco nos llama a "ser valientes" y
"despertar al mundo a una manera diferente de hacer las cosas, de
actuar, de vivir." Las Hermanas de la Caridad (que han estado en San
Ramón desde la década de 1860) es una comunidad religiosa sirviendo
a Dios y al pueblo de Dios aquí en Nueva York y más allá. Para

¿QUÉ SOBRE LOS HERMANOS? … los Hermanos de La Salle han
sido parte de la parroquia desde el 1860 también y ahora sirven en
nuestra escuela secundaria de chicos … puede ser que Dios te está
llamando a ser un hermano como el Hermano Richard, el Hermano
Vincent, el Hermano Richard Lalime, el Hermano Robert o el
Hermano David … una gran vida y un maravilloso servicio a la iglesia
como maestros.
LA PALABRA DE DIOS HOY
“Mis ojos no volverán a ver la dicha”. Con estas
palabras Job concluye su lamento al Señor. Era obvio que
Job estaba profundamente desesperado. Sus palabras son
un eco de cómo nos sentimos nosotros cuando dejamos
que las luchas y desilusiones de la vida nos abatan. Sin
MINISTERIO DE SANACIÓN
Durante su ministerio, Jesús “curó a muchos enfermos de
diversos males y expulsó a muchos demonios”. Así es el caso en
el Evangelio de hoy. Jesús cumple la visión del Salmo 147: “Él
sana los corazones destrozados y venda sus heridas.”
Jesús sabía, sin embargo, que nunca podría sanar todas las
enfermedades del mundo. Por mucha gente que curara o
muchas horas que dedicara al ministerio, siempre habría más
personas afligidas como Job, ansiosos de su toque sanador. Su
misión principal no era la de erradicar todo sufrimiento del
mundo. Su “obligación” era predicar la venida del Reino de
Dios que sana, sí, pero en último caso, trasciende y transforma
todo sufrimiento humano. Con Pablo, Jesús pudiera decir, “Ay
de mí si no anuncio” esa Buena Nueva.
LECTURAS DE HOY

Salmo — Alaben al Señor, que sana los corazones quebrantados
