THE COMBONI MISSIONARIES
Welcome to the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus who will be visiting us on the
weekend of September 7/8, 2013
Founded by St. Daniel Comboni in Italy in 1831. A community of more than 4000 Priests, Brothers, Sisters and
Lay Missionaries.
They learn from the people they serve and act as a bridge between the Mission Church and our own Churches at
home, sharing experiences of other cultures, languages and traditions and the situations that are encountered by
the poor in developing countries.
They share by:

Ministering with sacraments and pastoral care.
Helping to improve quality of life.
Preparing local Christian leaders to do the Church’s
Work among their people.
Fr. Andres Garcia Chavez’ biography:
Fr. Andres Garcia Chavez was born in Tecoanapa, Mexico on November 29, 1961 and ordained to the missionary
priesthood on June 6, 1992 in Mexico. From 1992 to 1995 Fr. Garcia worked in the congregation’s minor seminary
in Guadalajara, Mexico. After 3 years of service there, he was assigned to South Africa where he did his missionary service from 1995 to 2004. First he did pastoral ministry in the Diocese of Witbank near the border with Mozambique, among the Shangan tribe. For 2 years he was in charge of the South Africa Comboni Missionary Seminarians who studied Philosophy in Pretoria. The last four years in South Africa Fr. Andres was Parish Priest at St.
Augustine Catholic Church in Silverton, Pretoria. He returned to Mexico in 2004 and worked in the Seminary in
Cuernavaca. During this time, he also did pastoral ministry in several different parishes. In July 2013 Fr. Garcia
received his new assignment to U.S.A.

Bienvenido a los Misioneros Combonianos del Corazón de Jesús que nos visitan el fin de semana de septiembre 7/8, 2013
Los Combonianos es un instituto misionero y fueron fundados por San Daniel Comboni quien nació en Limone Italia en 1831. Y ahora ellos continúan su trabajo en los continentes de África, Europa, Asia y America.
Que hacen los Misioneros Combonianos:
~ Instruyen en la fe y administran los sacramentos y se dedican al trabajo pastoral anunciando el evangelio.
~ Preparando líderes cristianos locales para que sean ellos los que evangelicen a su propia gente.
~ Promueven las vocaciones a las vida misionero como sacerdotes, hermanos y laicos misioneros comprometidos..
Biografía del Padre. Andrés García Chávez:
Padre Andrés García Chávez nació en Tecoanapa, México el 29 de noviembre de 1961, y fue ordenado sacerdote misionero el 6 de junio de 1992 en México.
Entre 1992 y 1995 p. García trabajó en el seminario menor de la congregación en Guadalajara, México. Después de 3 años de servicio allí, fue destinado a Sudáfrica, donde realizó su servicio misionero 1995-2004.
Primero lo hizo el ministerio pastoral en la Diócesis de Witbank, cerca de la frontera con Mozambique, entre
la tribu Shangan. Durante 2 años estuvo a cargo de los Misioneros Combonianos de África del Sur seminaristas que estudiaban Filosofía en Pretoria. Los últimos cuatro años en Sudáfrica Padre Andrés era párroco
en la Iglesia de San Agustín en Silverton, Pretoria.
Regresó a México en 2004 y trabajó en el Seminario de Cuernavaca. Durante este tiempo, él también hizo el
ministerio pastoral en varias parroquias diferentes. En julio de 2013 P García recibió su nueva asignación a
U.S.A.
Time and Talent Weekend
September 21st & 22nd
Over the next 3 weekends please take home a Ministry
Directory from the back of church and look at the many
ministries available here at St. Joseph’s Church. We
will also have a few of your fellow Brothers and Sisters
give testimony as to what it feels like to be able to Minister and be a servant to others. We are in Great need
for volunteers and we ask you to please hear the Holy
Spirit’s call to come forward and sign up. On Sept. 21st
and
22nd there will be representatives at the entrances/exits to help you to sign up. Training if needed
is very short and done here at St. Joseph’s. The Lord
said, “As I have done, so you must also do.” Service to others leads to peace and joy; we
find that we are truly blessed when we give of our selves. Let us pray for the grace to be
even more generous with the gifts God has entrusted to us. Let us turn to Christ for the
grace to serve as He served and to love as he loved.

21 y 22 de Septiembre
Durante los próximos 3 fines de semana por favor llevar a casa un Directorio de Ministerio
de la parte posterior de la iglesia y mirar los muchos ministerios que están disponibles aquí
en la Iglesia de San José. También tendremos algunos de nuestros hermanos y hermanas
dando testimonio de lo que se siente ser capaz de Ministrar y servir a los demás. Estamos
en gran necesidad de voluntarios y les pedimos que por favor escucha el llamado del Espíritu Santo a presentarse y registrarse. El 21 y 22 de septiembre habrá representantes en las
entradas / salidas para ayudar a que se inscriba. Si el entrenamiento es necesario es muy
corto y hecho aquí en San José. El Señor dijo: "Como yo hice, así también hacedlo vosotros." El servicio a los demás lleva a la paz y la alegría, nos damos cuenta que estamos verdaderamente bendecidos cuando damos de nosotros mismos. Oremos por la gracia de ser
más generosos con los dones que Dios nos ha confiado. Volvamos a Cristo por la gracia de
servir como Él sirvió y amar como El ama.

The Religious Education program starts on September 11th. Children and youth Mass at 6 PM everyone is
invited or on Saturday, September 14. Mass is at 8:30 AM everyone is invited.
Parent Orientation will be on Tuesday, September 4th at 6 PM English and at 7:30 PM in Spanish.
We have many students registering for Religious Education; however, we are in Need of Catechists for the
2013-2014 school year. If you are interested in teaching, please contact religious education office. Your support is much appreciated.

programa del Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (R.C.I.A., siglas en inglés), tiene una duración de
9 meses y culmina con los sacramentos de iniciación durante la celebración de la Vigilia Pascual.
El programa de R.I.C.A. está orientado para personas adultas de todos los ámbitos y creencias religiosas que buscan conocer más acerca de la Iglesia
Católica, y quienes de alguna manera o en algún
momento han considerado integrarse a la Iglesia.
