DIRECCIÓN DE INVESTIGACIÓN Y POSTGRADO NÚCLEO CHUAO * ÁREA DE INGLÉS PROF. ORLANDO ROMERO MAYORA IDIOMA MODERNO ( Inglés ) E.S.P. Ej: TAKE= Tomar, DOWN= abajo, al unir estos dos vocablos: TAKE DOWN: Copiar. Ej: --Away, --Down, --Off, --Over, etc. DEFINICIÓN IDIOMÁTICA: Ej: la palabra R E C O R D. A good record is required for getting a promotion. Ej: INFINITIVO GERUNDIO PRESENTE PASADO PARTICIPIO To Walk Walk (s) Walked Walked Walking To Write Write (s) Wrote Written Writing EL SUSTANTIVO. (NOUN). Ej: N.A.T.O. (North Atlantic Treated Organization) EL ADVERBIO. (Cómo) When (Cuándo) Where? (Dónde). Ej: Great...Greatly Quick...Quickly Rapid...Rapidly Firm...Firmly Near...Nearly Slow...Slowly Brilliant...Brilliantly Important...Importantly. HAD TO OUGHT TO M O D A L HAVE TO A U X I L I A R I E S C A N Expresa capacidad, habilidad y destreza. Ej: Peter is not able to read without getting a headache Peter can´t read without getting a headache. Ej: The Doctor can see you at 5:30 this afternoon. The Doctor is able to see you at 5:30 this afternoon. Ej: Until a short time ago, we could buy dollars without problem. Until a short time ago, we were able to buy dollars without problem. Ej: When I was a student, anyone could enter the University. When I was a student, anyone was able to enter the University. Ej: The Doctor could see you at 5:30 this afternoon. The Doctor should see you at 5:30 this afternoon. The Doctor would see you at 5:30 this afternoon. M A Y MAY expresa un permiso otorgado en presente. Ej: You may leave when the class is over. You are allowed to leave when the class is over. Se le puede usar para expresión futura. Ej: You may drink until 02:00 a.m. You are permitted to drink until 02:00 a.m. MAY no expresa idea del pasado, algunas veces indica conjetura o adivinanza acerca del futuro. Ej: It may rain tomorrow. M I G H T Al igual que MAY sirve para expresar conjetura acerca del presente. Ej: It might be raining in Maracaibo right now. Ej: It might rain. (09) M U S T MUST expresa deber y necesidad. Algunas veces expresa creencias generales. Ej: One must eat to live. One has to eat in order to live. Ej: She must pay her income taxes next month. She has to pay her income taxes next month. Ej: We had to sign the bill before showing the credit card. O U G H T T O Expresa una obligación supuesta, condicional. Es sinónimo de SHOULD. Expresa creencias generales. We ought to be careful crossing streets at noon. Ej: Shall we go to the beach next sunday? S H O U L D Expresa obligación. Ej: We should be honest with ourselves. We ought to be honest with ourselves. (10) W I L L Como auxiliar, WILL representa la expresión de futuro en todas sus formas de pregunta, interrogación y negación. Ej: I will try to complete my task. I won't be able to do it. Will you do it by youselves? Ej: If she had time, she WOULD go to the theater. If she had time, she COULD go to the theater. If she had time, she SHOULD go to the theater. Ej: WOULD you please let me go in? WILL you please let me go in? Ej: DO you come to class every day? No, you DON'T come to class every day. Yes, I DO come to class every day. D I D Al igual que DO, funciona en todas las situaciones, pero en el pasado. Ej: DID you come to class yesterday? No, you DIDN'T come to class last week. Yes, I DID come to class last week. Ej: You must not smoke in this room. This door Mustn’t be opened. Ej: Do it – Get down – Don´t move - don’t be late También podrá ordenar de manera severa. Ej: You Listen to me – do obey – do apologize – don’t you argue – don’t you lie to me – don’t feel bad. Ej: Let’s go – let’s dance – let’s join the group – let’s just forget it. También podrá ordenar en primera persona. Ej: let’s not give up – let’s not buy this. Ej: The Leader said: “We have enough resources” The leader said that they had enough resources. The Student shouted: “I have gotten the highest mark!” The Student shouted that he had gotten the highest mark. The Climatologist reported: “The river stream is increasing dangerously” The Climatologist reported that the river stream was increasing dangerously. Ej: The girl said: “My father invited me to dinner last night” The girl said that her father had invited her to dinner the night before. Ej: The bible says: “Thou shan’t kill.” The bible says that You shouldn’t kill. S + TO BE / P.P. + V + C. (i.o. / d.o.) (by S.....). (Oración Activa) S Someone + (Oración Pasiva) S my books + V has stolen + C (I.O / D.O) my books TO BE / P.P. have been stolen.
