UNIDAD 1 I. INTRODUCCIÓN MOTIVACIONAL ¿CUÁLES SON LAS RAZONES PARA APRENDER INGLES? Hablar el idioma Inglés es invaluable para el desarrollo empresarial y profesional de una persona. Las mejores oportunidades de trabajo, desde un empleo con salario medio hasta los más altos niveles ejecutivos, requieren el dominio del idioma Inglés, porque el personal administrativo, las máquinas, las técnicas que se utilizan, los libros, etc. todos se expresan o están en Inglés. El inglés es el idioma más utilizado en el mundo entero, tanto en el ámbito del comercio como en el de los negocios y la investigación. El 80% de la información que aparece en Internet está en este idioma y si vive o tiene pensado trabajar en Estados Unidos, el mercado más rico del mundo, entonces es imprescindible dominar el Idioma Inglés. Si tú hablas inglés, no sólo se abrirán muchas puertas para ti en el trabajo y los negocios, sino que podrás tener acceso a libros especializados, a la Internet, a películas y videos recién salidos al mercado; a los materiales de enseñanza más actualizados concebidos con una didáctica avanzada, propia sólo de los países desarrollados. El inglés también es una herramienta clave para que triunfes en el colegio y una gran ventaja a la hora de emprender una carrera. COMO ESTUDIAR UNIDAD 1: TIEMPO PASADO (VERBO TO BE) A continuación encontrarás la gramática del pasado del verbo to be, léela, trata de comprenderla y enseguida ingresa a las liga que están a continuación donde podrás encontrar ejercicios para reafirmar tus conocimientos. AFIRMATIVA: Para formar la afirmativa ponemos la forma correspondiente del verbo 'to be' en presente. SUJETO + WAS/WERE + RESTO DE FRASE Yo estaba en la oficina. I was in the office. Ella estaba disgustada. She was upset. Ellos eran amigos. “2013. Año del Bicentenario de los Sentimientos de la Nación” They were friends. NEGATIVA: Para formar la negativa tenemos que negar el verbo 'to be' añadiendo la partícula 'not' despuésdel verbo. SUJETO + WAS/WERE + NOT + RESTO DE FRASE Ella no estaba disgustada. She was not upset. Ellos no eran amigos. They were not friends. * Recuerda que este verbo puede contraerse y encontrar las siguientes formas (I.e. She wasn't upset) o (I.e. They weren't friends) INTERROGATIVA: Para formar la interrogativa tenemos que invertir el verbo 'to be' (was/were) y el sujeto. WAS/WERE + SUJETO + RESTO DE FRASE? ¿Eran ellos amigos? Were they friends? ¿Estaba ella disgustada? Was she upset? RESPUESTAS CORTAS: Para dar respuestas cortas debemos utilizar la forma correspondiente del verbo 'to be' en pasado. Were they friends? Yes, they were / No, they weren’t Was she upset? Yes, she was / No, she wasn’t * Utilizamos la forma completa en las respuestas cortas afirmativas, y la forma contraída en las respuestas cortas negativas. Los aspectos importantes que debemos tener en cuenta son los siguientes: Cuando hablamos en pasado vamos a ver ciertas expresiones de tiempo que aparecen con mucha frecuencia, como yesterday, last week/month/year, two days/weeks/years ago, in 1997, etc. Recuerda las reglas básicas para formar la afirmativa, negativa e interrogativa. *Consulta la siguiente liga: http://www.agendaweb.org/verbs/to-be-past-exercises.html En ella encontrarás 25 ejercicios de pasado simple. Realiza los primero 5 ejercicios de la página, los cuales corresponden al pasado del verbo to be. En caso de equivocarte, la página te corregirá o indicará tus errores. EXISTENCIALES DE LUGAR EN PASADO: Los existenciales de lugar son: there is / there are, que significan “Hay”, por ejemplo: There is an Apple. Hay una manzana There are 3 apples. Hay tres manzanas. “2013. Año del Bicentenario de los Sentimientos de la Nación” Como te darás cuenta, there is es para singulares (una manzana) y there are es para plurales (tres manzanas). De la misma forma, there was y there were, significan “Hubo o había”, ejemplo. Están en tiempo pasado. There was an Apple. Había una manzana. There were 3 apples. Unidad 2: TIEMPO PRESENTE SIMPLE How do we make the Past Simple Tense? / Cómo hacemos en ingles el Tiempo Pasado Simple? To make the past simple tense, we use: past form only / Usamos únicamente la forma pasada del verbo or auxiliary did + base form / el auxiliary did + forma simple del verbo The structure for positive sentences in the past simple tense is: / La estructura grammatical para enunciados positivos o en afirmativo es la siguiente: Subject + main verb in past SUJETO + VERBO PRINCIPAL EN PASADO Ejemplo: She danced yesterday The structure for negative sentences in the past simple tense is:/ La estructura para la forma negative es: subject + auxiliary verb + not + main verb did base “2013. The structure for question sentences in the past simple tense is: / La estructura para las preguntas es: auxiliary verb + subject + main verb did base Did she dance yesterday? The auxiliary verb did is not conjugated. It is the same for all persons (I did, you did, he did etc). And the base form and past form do not change. Look at these examples with the main verbs go and work: // El auxiliary did no se conjuga. Es el mismo para todos los pronombres personales. Con el auxiliar did el verbo se queda en su forma simple o forma base, no cambia. subject Affirmative Negative Interrogative auxiliary verb main verb I went to school. You worked very hard. She did not go with me. We did not work yesterday. Did you go to London? Did they work at home? Para enunciados afirmativos no usamos auxiliar, solo el verbo en pasado. En forma negativa usamos el auxiliar did not o lo podemos usar en contracción como didn´t. El auxiliar did solo se usa en negaciones y preguntas en tiempo pasado, nunca en afirmaciones. Unidad 3 Verbos en gerundio y Pasado progresivo: The past progressive puts emphasis on the course of an action in the past. // El pasado progresivo o continuo pone enfásis en el curso de la acción que ocurrió en el pasado. Example: He was playing football. // El estaba jugando football. two actions happening at the same time (in the past) // dos acciones sucediendo al mismo tiempo (en el pasado) Example: While she was preparing dinner, he was washing the dishes. // Mientras ella estaba preparando la cena, él estaba lavando los platos. action going on at a certain time in the past // una acción sucediendo en cierto tiempo en el pasado. Example: When I was having breakfast, the phone suddenly rang. // Cuando yo estaba desayunando, el teléfono de repente sonó. How do we make the Past Continuous Tense? // Cómo estructuramos el pasado continuo o progresivo? The structure of the past continuous tense is: subject + auxiliary verb BE + main verb conjugated in simple past tense present participle was were base + ing Affirmativo For negative sentences in the past continuous tense, we insert not between the auxiliary verb and main verb. For question sentences, we exchange the subject and auxiliary verb. Look at these example sentences with the past continuous tense: subject auxiliary verb main verb + Affirmative I was watching TV. + Affirmative You were working hard. - Negative He, she, it was not helping Mary. - Negative We were not joking. ?
