And Mrs. Anybody never do any housework, they have a charwoman who does it for them. Verdadero Falso When they arrive home for lunch, the children sit to watch T.V. Verdadero Falso Mr. Anybody picks Mrs. Anybody and the children on his way back home in the evening. Verdadero Falso They usually go to bed at about eight o’clock Verdadero Falso Jim and Jane are the twin children of Mr. And Mrs. Anybody Verdadero Falso 2 de 12 Educación para personas adultas. Nivel I CII_B5_T3_contenidos An Ordinary Day at School From Monday to Friday Jim and Jane spend most of their time at school. They arrive at a quarter past eight and they leave school at a quarter past five... nine hours, all together! The school opens at eight o’clock but students cannot enter their classrooms before eight fifty (ten minutes to nine), so from a quarter past eight to ten to nine Jim and Jane play with their schoolmates in the playground except when it rains or it is very cold. At ten to nine students are in their classroom to “register” and at nine o’clock they start their daily classes. Let’s have a look at Jim’s timetable in an ordinary day Fíjate en el horario de Jim. REGISTER ASSEMBLY AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS Contesta a estas preguntas después de asegurarte de que has comprendido bien la lectura anterior 1.- At what time does Jim start his lessons? 2.- How many segments of break are there in Jim's timetable? 3.- Do Jim and Jane go to their classrooms as soon as they arrive to school? 4.- What do they do from a quarter past eight to ten to nine? 5.- What happens if a child is late to "Register"? 3 de 12 Educación para personas adultas. Nivel I CII_B5_T3_contenidos Do Jim and Jane like school? Ask them. Nivel I CII_B5_T3_contenidos Jim and Jane are playing // Mary is making a telephone call ¿Quién está jugando? “Jim and Jane” que son las personas que realizan la acción de y por tanto el sujeto: Jim and Jane = THEY ¿Quién está llamando por teléfono? “Mary” es la persona que realiza la llamada: Mary = SHE Ahora fíjate en estas oraciones: Jim and Jane are playing with their classmates Mary is making a telephone call to her friend Peter De nuevo, Jim, Jane y Mary son las personas que realizan la acción determinada por el verbo; pero ¿Con quién están jugando? o ¿A quién está telefoneando Mary? With their classmates to her friend Peter Ni los “compañeros y compañeras de clase” ni “Pedro” son quienes realizan la acción sino quienes la reciben y por tanto si hemos de sustituirlos por un pronombre personal ha de ser por uno que esté en el listado de: PERSONAL PRONOUNS (OBJECT) Con lo que nuestras oraciones quedarían así: Jim and Jane are playing with them Mary is making a telephone call to him En las siguientes oraciones elige el pronombre personal correcto de entre los que aparecen entre paréntesis 1.- (I, you, she) are going to school with (him, he, his) 2.- Please, give (she, her, we) 3.- (us, you, we) 4.- Give (I, you, me) 5.- (you, he, we) her coat and umbrella want to visit (they, them, their) in Toronto your umbrella, please doesn’t understand (his, her, we) En las siguientes oraciones cambia la(s) palabra(s) que aparecen en cursiva y negrita por el correspondiente pronombre personal Ejemplo: My sister is playing with a ball She is playing with it 5 de 12 Educación para personas adultas. Nivel I CII_B5_T3_contenidos Lunch Time and After School Clubs 7 de 12 Educación para personas adultas. Nivel I CII_B5_T3_contenidos Lunch time and after school clubs are Jim's favourite times at school. Lunch Time Pupils at Jim and Jane’s school can either bring their own lunch or purchase lunch at the school Canteen. At 12 o’clock all pupils go to the dining hall (canteen) and eat together, those who have brought (han traido) their lunch and those who purchase it. During lunch there are always three or four teachers “keeping an eye” on pupils to ensure that they eat their meals. If a child does not eat his/her meal the school informs his/her parents. Click here to have a look at the weekly menu of our school canteen: http://www.farringtons.org.uk/junior/academic-programme/lunch-menu--week-commencing-16-march-2009/ After School Clubs The school offers a wide variety of After School Clubs from a quarter past three to six o’clock. Students can join one or more clubs and spend from one to one and a half hours doing that activity. These are the Clubs that Jim and Jane’s school offers to the pupils. The clubs in red are the ones Jim attends and those in blue the ones Jane attends. Art and Craft Club Football Spanish Italian Netball Drama ICT Production Club Badminton Table Tennis Dance Family Reading Club Chess Club Rugby The school also offers Aftercare between 3.15 and 6.00 pm. Aftercare is like a club for those students who need some help because they are a bit slow or for those who are extremely good. And for those children who go back home at five past three and need help with their homework the school has a especial site. ¿Te has fijado en el verbo To Be? Nivel I CII_B5_T3_contenidos Y el tiempo nos queda así: VERB: TO BE // SIMPLE PAST I WAS YOU WERE SHE, HE, IT, WAS WE WERE YOU WERE THEY WERE 10 de 12 Educación para personas adultas. 1.- Yesterday Jim and Jane (go) 2.- Their mother (be) to school by car. ill and she (have) 3.- Yesterday evening Jim and Jane (do) with the housework. 4.- For dinner they (eat) cook. Jim and Jane (be) to stay in bed. their homework and helped their father pizza because their father (be) too tired to very happy because they like pizza. Elige la forma correcta de pronombre personal: 1.- (He, they, you) takes (they, them, she) home by car He.....them They.....she You......they 2.- (we, us, she) keep (it, they, he) in our house We.....it Us......they She.......he 3.- (I , she, it) knows (we, they, us) and writes letters to (we, they, us) 11 de 12 Educación para personas adultas. Nivel I CII_B5_T3_contenidos It.......we.......they She......us......us I.......they......we 4.- His father asked (him, he, his) some questions him he his Inserta en cada hueco el pronombre personal que pueda sustituir a la(s) palabra(s) en negrita y cursiva. 1.- The teacher(woman) 2.- Mary is giving a new book speaks French to John to the students and John speaks English to Mary 3.- The mothers 4.- That man are looking after their children can tell Peter, John and you 5.- My mother and I the answer are going to buy a new car 12 de 12
