Roots hold the plant in the soil. They absorb the water and
minerals the plant need: Las raices sujetan la planta en la tierra.
Absorben el agua y los minerals que necesita la planta.
The stem holds the plant up. It carries water to the leaves and
flower: El tallo sujeta la planta. Lleva el agua a las hojas y la flor.
Leaves make food for the plant. They use water, sunlight and
air: Las hojas hacen la comida para la planta. Usan agua, luz del
sol y aire.
Flowers attract animals because they are colourful and smell
nice: Las flores atraen a los animales porque son coloridas y
huelen bien.
Some plants have flowers: Algunas plantas tienen flores.
Flowers produce fruits: Las flores producen frutos.
Inside the fruits there are seeds: Dentro de las frutos hay
semillas.
When a seed germinates, a new plant is born: Cuando una
semilla germina, una nueva planta crece.
Plants can make their own food. They use energy from the
Sun, air, water and minerals: Las plantas hacen su propia
comida. Usan energía del sol, aire, agua y minerals.
Evergreen trees have leaves all year round. They are always
green. Eucalyptus trees are evergreen: Los árboles de hoja
perenne tienen hojas todo el año. Están siempre verdes. Los
eucaliptus son perennes.
Deciduous trees lose their leaves in autumn. They grow new
leaves in spring. Birch trees are deciduous: Los árboles de
hoja caduca pierden sus hojas en otoño. Crecen nuevas hojas en
primavera. Los abedules son de hoja caduca.
