We are all settling in and getting used to the new routines. The children have all been over to the big building to have Music and PE. Twice a week the children meet Senorita Marta who teaches Spanish. The children have loved all the new lessons they are now having. In Literacy this week, we have been trying to learn the sound ”s”. The children try to recognise it, form the letter and also try to say some words that start with this letter. In Maths, we have been counting to 10 and beyond and trying to count 1:1. We encourage the children to put objects in a row and use a “pointy finger” to count the objects so that they don´t miss any out (or count them twice!). In our topic work we have made paper plate faces, looked at Van Gogh´s self portrait and painted our own faces and we have also painted our friends faces. Today we are sending home Reading Books. Please encourage your child to talk about what might be happening in the pictures and naming the characters: mum, dad, Biff, Chip and Kipper (Biff is the girl, Kipper is the little boy!). If you would like to comment on how your child reacts to their book, please do so and return to school. As discussed in our meeting, we are sending home a “s” sound sheet for the children to practise their formation. Don´t forget to check for Class Dojo messages, and if you follow “Twitter” please look up KC_Murcia as we have posted some super photos of your children. Yours sincerely, Mrs Dadd and Mrs Turnbull Estimados padres y tutores: Esta ha sido una semana muy movidita en Reception. Todos nos estamos adaptando y acostumbrando a las nuevas rutinas. Todos los niños han estado yendo al edificio principal para las clases de Música y de Educación Física. Además, los niños van a clase de Español con la señorita Marta dos veces a la semana. Los niños están encantados con sus nuevas clases y asignaturas. Esta semana, en lengua inglesa, hemos intentado aprender el sonido “s”. Los niños han intentado reconocerlo, escribir la letra y además intentar decir algunas palabras que contuvieran dicha letra. En matemáticas, hemos contado hasta 10 y más allá e intentado contar 1:1. Animamos a los niños a que pongan objetos en fila y que usen el “dedito de señalar” para contar los objetos y así no perder ninguno (o que los cuenten dos veces). En el tema de clase hemos hecho caras con platos de papel, mirado el autorretrato de Van Gogh y dibujado nuestras propias caras y las de nuestros amigos. Hoy enviaremos libros de lectura con los niños. Os pedimos por favor, animéis a los niños a hablar de lo que está pasando en los dibujos y que nombren a los personajes: mamá, papá, Biff, Chip y Kipper (Biff es la niña, Kipper es el niño pequeño). Si deseáis contarnos como vuestros hijos han reaccionado ante el libro, sentíos libres de hacerlo al volver al colegio. Tal y como hablamos en la reunión, enviaremos a casa una ficha del sonido “s” para que los niños practiquen. No olvidéis comprobar los mensajes de Class Dojo, y si tenéis Twitter no dudéis en mirar KC_Murcia ya que hemos puesto algunas fotos de vuestros hijos que son fantásticas.
