A MESSAGE FROM MSGR. MARC
I
n the back yard of the rectory we have a number of fruit trees:
grapefruit, apple, plum, nectarine, fig, avocado and orange. I notice the passing of spring to summer as the fruit from the different
trees ripens at different times. The trees know, in some mysterious
way, when to produce and, though they might bear earlier or later,
it is always in the same sequence. The avocado always blooms first,
not a very pretty show but attractive enough for bees to be attracted. The nectarine and plum come second with
spectacular flowers (although they do not bear
as much as they promise). The citrus bloom last
but their blooming continues for the longest period. Learning the personality of each of the
trees is an interesting part of a home garden.
They know their place in the cycle of life. Jesus
tells us to look at the mustard seed. What a
wondrous thing it is. And the most amazing
thing about anything that you see is that nothing exists only for itself. The mustard plant provides a nesting place for birds. Everything is
connected.

them come to fruition, often times we leave it

sombra, etc. También plantamos cosas que no
son visibles, ideas, fe, y virtudes. A veces los
vemos llegar a buen término, muchas veces

Ardent, often selfless, affection and dedication, as to a person or principle.
We, as human beings, experience devotion on many levels. We are devoted to our spouse,
our parents and children, our extended families and friends. Some are devoted to a teacher,
a priest, a pastor, to a boss or manager, a pet. In addition to people, we might speak of devotion to a calling or career, to a special cause we hold dear, to a political party, a job, a hobby or a special possession. We recognize the importance of these in our lives by loving or
caring for them, by expending time, energy, attention and even money on them. Sometimes
we might even establish rituals that express this devotion. Devotion is perhaps most important as it relates to God, to Christ, to our faith and our spiritual family. In the busyness
of our everyday lives it is often easy to focus our love and attention on the concrete—the
people and activities that involve us in everyday life. If we are not careful it can become easy
to forget our devotion to the one who is the source of these blessings in our lives.

John the Baptist had a mission! He was sent as the herald of
Christ to help God’s people receive Christ. Every child of God has
a mission and needs to be nourished and prepared to fulfill it. In
our journeys of faith, we are constantly being prepared to serve
the will of God. What’s your mission? Do you feel prepared to accomplish it?
Please join us at the next Small Christian Communities Faith

Reflections on the Life of our Patroness
Part Nine: The Third and Final Revelation
Renewed in physical and
spiritual health, Sr. Margaret
Mary received the third, and
final, Great Revelation from
the Lord on June 16, 1675.
This encounter was the last
chapter of instructions the
Lord imparted on the saintly
nun, instructions which
seemed impossible for the sister to achieve.
The Lord picked up where
He left off the last time, lamenting the lack of gratitude
shown to Him by the world
and, as accounted by the nun,
“by the coldness and contempt they have for Me in this
sacrament of love.” Jesus continued, “And what is most
painful to Me is that they are
hearts consecrated to Me.” To
Sister Margaret Mary, this
was a profound statement.
Jesus then instructed her
to establish a feast in honor of
His Sacred Heart: “The first
Friday after the octave of the
Blessed Sacrament shall be
appropriated to a special feast
to honor My Heart by communicating on that day and
making reparation for the indignity that it has received.
And I promise that My Heart
shall dilate to pour out abundantly the influences of its
love on all that will render it
this honor.”
At the conclusion of this
Revelation, there was no trace
of the violent emotion or sickness that the first two had
brought upon Sr. Margaret
Mary. She uttered one simple
question to her loving Spouse,
“Lord, how can I?” Without
finishing the question, Jesus
answered her, “Address yourself to the servant of God who
has been sent to you expressly
for the accomplishment of
this design.” Sr. Margaret
Mary knew her mission was to
be achieved in collaboration
with Fr. Claude de la Colombiere.
She confided in Fr. Claude
all that she experienced in
this last Revelation. He knew
it to be authentically from
God and promised her that
one day the feast day would
be established. Upon hearing
Fr. Claude’s commitment, she
re-consecrated herself to the
Sacred Heart, and the priest
knelt by her and professed his
own consecration to the mission at hand.

¡Busquemos colocar nuestros corazo-
nes en el corazón de Cristo! Saquemos

a nuestro cónyuge, nuestros padres e hijos, nuestras familias y amigos.

Novena Parte: La Tercera y Ultima Revelación

PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN
Listen to your children
This summer, when your children are out of school, on different
schedules, are meeting new people and going to new places,
make sure that you talk to them often about their experiences
and the people they’ve met. Listen carefully to your children. If
possible, observe and get to know the other children and adults
who are part of your children’s summertime fun. Above all, communicate your safety concerns to your children. Make sure they
know that they can come to you with any concerns they may have
about the people they interact with. And, if you hear of or observe
behaviors that may be inappropriate, make sure to communicate
your feelings to people who are in a position to intervene. Communication is key to creating and maintaining a safe environment all year round.
For particular help, you may call Assistance Ministry, (213) 637-7650.

Please remember that if you are an usher,
