and the Sacrament of Confirmation
A sponsor must be sixteen years of age or older…a Catholic who is confirmed and receives
Eucharist and who lives a life of faith which befits the role of sponsor. If married, the
sponsor must be in a valid Catholic marriage; i.e., either married in the Catholic Church
by a priest, deacon; or, if married in a non-Catholic Church, with special permission from
the Church. The sponsor may not be the parent of the person celebrating the sacrament(s).

Los padrinos deben tener 16 años o mayores…un católico quien esté confirmado y recibe la
Eucaristía y quien vive una vida de fe las cuales cumplen función de padrinos. Si está
casado, el padrino debe estar en un matrimonio válido católico, cualquiera casado en la
Iglesia Católica por un sacerdote, diácono; o, casado en una Iglesia no-Católica, con un
permiso especial de la Iglesia. Los padrinos no pueden ser los padres de la persona
celebrando el sacramento(s).
