our CSA campaign
for 2014.
“The proclamation of the Gospel is destined
primarily to the poor, to those who often lack
the essentials for a decent life. The good news
is first announced to them, that God loves them
before all others and comes to visit them through
the acts of charity that the disciples of Christ
carry out in his name.” (Pope Francis: 6/18/13)
This year, CSA needs to raise $840,261
for programs that assist the poor.
Among the programs it supports are:
• Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada in
helping to settle legal refugees by assisting,
training and helping them become a
productive part of our country.
• Help the St. Therese Center serve those
who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
• Partner with rural parishes too small on
their own and too far from larger towns to
continue the proclamation of the Gospel
and the presence of the Catholic Church.
• Work to support the ethical and justice
doctrine of the Catholic Church.
• Assist some of our retired priests who can
not survive on their own.
“Isaiah’s invitation must resound in our hearts:
“Comfort, comfort my people” (40:1) and this
must lead to mission. We must find the Lord who
consoles us and go to console the people of
God. This is the mission. People today certainly
need words, but most of all they need us to bear
witness to the mercy and tenderness of the Lord,
which warms the heart, rekindles hope, and
attracts people towards the good. What a joy it
is to bring God’s consolation to others! “(Pope
Francis 7/7/13)
This year, CSA needs to raise $145,000
to bring comfort and the mission of the
church through communications including:
• Providing the locally televised Sunday Mass
in the Las Vegas valley so that shut-ins
and sick people may have a connection to
the preaching and Sacramental life of the
Church.
• Assist in electronic communication
including the Diocese of Las Vegas website
to help link the people with the information
they need including links to the daily
readings and the TV Mass.
“A good priest can be recognized by the way his
people are anointed: this is a clear proof. When
our people are anointed with the oil of gladness,
it is obvious: for example, when they leave Mass
looking as if they have heard the good news.
Our people like to hear the Gospel preached
with “unction”, they like it when the Gospel we
preach touches their daily lives, when it runs
down like the oil of Aaron to the edges of reality, when it brings light to moments of extreme
darkness, to the “outskirts” where people of faith
are most exposed to the onslaught of those who
want to tear down their faith. People thank us
because they feel that we have prayed over the
realities of their everyday lives, their troubles,
their joys, their burdens and their hopes.”

• Train volunteers and staff to keep
children and teenagers safe.
• Support the dignity of human life
through Natural Family Planning and
the healing of those affected by
abortion through Project Rachael.
• Assist in the leadership of our six
Catholic elementary schools.
Pope Francis’ words also remind us why
we reach out beyond the boundaries and
comforts of our own parishes to assist each
other. “Let us remember Paul VI’s words:
“For the Catholic Church, no one is a
stranger, no one is excluded, no one is far
away” (Homily for the closing of the Second
Vatican Council, 8 December 1965). Indeed, we are a single human family that is
journeying on toward unity, making the
most of solidarity and dialogue among
peoples in the multiplicity of differences.

the Catholic Stewardship Appeal this year.
This year CSA needs to raise $1,214,739
to assist in faith and ministry formation and
the proclamation of the teaching of the
church through:
• Helping to train future ordained ministers as
priests and deacons so that ministry can be
provided to our local parishes.
• Support the faith life of university students
at UNLV through the ministry of the
Catholic Newman Center.
• Help to train catechists, youth ministers
and adult leaders for their ministries in
our parishes.

Este año, CSA necesita recaudar $840.261 dólares
para programas que ayudan a los necesitados.
Entre los programas que apoyan son:
• Caridades Católicas del Sur de Nevada
para ayudar a asentar a los refugiados
legales con asistencia, formación y
ayudarles a convertirse ser parte productiva
de nuestro país.
• Ayudar al Centro Santa Teresa servir a
aquellos infectados y afectados por el VIH /
SIDA.
• Asociarse con parroquias rurales demasiado pequeñas y solas y alejadas
de grandes ciudades para poder continuar
con la proclamación del Evangelio y la
presencia de la Iglesia Católica.
• Trabajar para apoyar la doctrina ética y
justa de la Iglesia Católica.
• Ayudar a algunos de nuestros sacerdotes
jubilados que no pueden sobrevivir por sí
mismos.
“La invitación de Isaías debe resonar en nuestros
corazones: “ Consolad, consolad a mi pueblo”(40:1) y
esto debe conducir a la misión. Tenemos que encontrar al Señor, que nos consuela y consuela al pueblo
de Dios. Esta es la misión. La gente de hoy sin duda
necesita palabras, pero mas que todo necesitan que
demos testimonio de la misericordia y ternura de El
Señor, que calienta el corazón, reaviva la esperanza,
y atrae a las personas hacia el bien. Qué gozo es
llevar el consuelo de Dios a los demás! “(Pápa Francisco (07/07/13)
Este año, CSA necesita recaudar $145,000
para llevar consuelo y la misión de la iglesia a
través de comunicación que incluye:
• Proporcionar la misa dominical televisada
a nivel local en el valle de Las Vegas para
los enfermos y los que no pueden salir
puedan tener un vínculo con la predicación
y de la vida sacramental de la Iglesia.
• Ayudar en la comunicación electrónica
incluyendo la pagina de La Diócesis de Las
Vegas para ayudar a vincular a la gente con la
información que necesitan incluyendo enlaces a
las lecturas diarias y la misa por televisión.
“ Un buen sacerdote puede ser reconocido por la
forma en que sus personas son ungidos: esta es una
prueba clara. Cuando nuestra gentes son ungidos
con el óleo de la alegría. Es obvio por ejemplo,
cuando salen de misa pareciendo como si hubieran
escuchado buenas noticias. Nuestra gente le gusta
oír el Evangelio predicado por “ unción”. Les gusta
cuando el Evangelio que predicamos toque su vida
cotidiana, cuando corre como el aceite de Aaron hacia los bordes de realidad, cuando trae luz a momentos de oscuridad extrema, a las “afueras”, en donde
personas de fe están más expuestas a ataques de los
que quieren derribar su fe.
La gente nos da las gracias, porque sienten que
hemos orado sobre las realidades de su vida cotidiana, sus problemas, sus alegrías, sus cargas, y
sus esperanzas. “(Pápa Francisco 03/28/13, Misa
Crismal).
Este año CSA necesita recaudar $1.214.739
dólares para ayudar en la fe y formación del
ministerio y proclamación de la doctrina de la
iglesia a través de:
• Ayudar a entrenar a catequistas, ministros
de jóvenes y líderes adultos para sus
ministerios en nuestras parroquias.
• Capacitar a voluntarios y personal a
mantener a los niños y adolescentes a
salvo.
• Apoyar la dignidad de la vida humana a
través de la planificación familiar natural
y curación de las personas afectadas por
el aborto a través del Proyecto Raquel.
• Ayudar en el liderazgo de nuestras seis
escuelas primarias católicas.
Las palabras del Santo Padre Francisco también
nos recuerdan de la razón por cual nos extendemos más allá de las fronteras y la comodidad de
nuestras propias parroquias para ayudar el uno al
otro. “Recordemos las palabras de Pablo VI: “Para
la Iglesia Católica, nadie es un extraño, nadie está
excluido, nadie está lejos”. (Homilía para la clausura del Concilio Vaticano, 8 de Diciembre 1965).
De hecho, somos una sola familia humana que
está viajando hacia la unidad, por lo que la mayor
parte de la solidaridad y diálogo entre los pueblos
en la multiplicidad de las diferencias.

Ayude a su parroquia cumplir su evaluación para
la Administración Católica de Apelación de este
año.
• Ayudar a entrenar ministros ordenados como
sacerdotes y diáconos para que el ministerio
se puede proporcionar a nuestras parroquias.
• Apoyar la vida de fe de estudiantes universitarios de UNLV a través del ministerio
del Centro Católico Newman.
