ALYCE WONG (MICKELSON)
RETIRED REGISTERED NURSE
I am a registered nurse who with my family has lived in the
community for 35 years. I have a Master's of Science degree
in nursing and a diverse nursing background that includes
direct patient care, education and nursing management. The
last 31 years of my career has been at Tahoe Forest Hospital
in a variety of positions.
In the past, Tahoe Forest Hospital has successfully met the
challenges that developed with the changes in Medicare and
Medicaid programs, reimbursement and a shortage of
experienced qualified staff. The organization met the
challenges and became a leading critical access hospitals
with awards for nursing, patient safety and satisfaction.
There are greater challenges ahead with recent mandates
from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). It will take
strong leadership with high performing individuals to meet
these challenges while continuing to provide high quality
health care and cost containment.
If I am elected to the Tahoe Forest Hospital District Board of
Directors, I will bring my nursing expertise specifically in the
area of quality, safety, patient experience, staff engagement
and financial stewardship. I will work with the other board
directors and staff to develop creative and innovative
strategies to meet future challenges and keep the high
quality health care that the community has come to expect.

Soy enfermera registrada quien con mi familia ha vivido en la
comunidad por 35 años. Tengo un Máster en Ciencias en
enfermería y un diverso antecedente de enfermería que
incluye la atención directa de pacientes, educación y
administración de enfermería. Los últimos 31 años de mi
carrera fueron en el Hospital de Tahoe Forest en diversos
puestos.
En el pasado, el Hospital de Tahoe Forest ha alcanzado
exitosamente los desafíos que se desarrollaron con los
cambios en los programas de Medicare y Medicaid, los
reembolsos y la falta de personal calificado con experiencia.
La organización alcanzó los desafíos y se transformó en un
hospitales líder para casos críticos con premios por
enfermería, seguridad y satisfacción del paciente.
Quedan mayores desafíos por delante con los recientes
mandatos del Centro para Medicare y Medicaid (CMS). Se
necesitará un liderazgo fuerte con individuos de alto
desempeño para alcanzar estos desafíos mientras se sigue
brindando la atención médica de calidad y la contención de
costos.
Si fuera elegida para el Directorio del Distrito Hospitalario
de Tahoe Forest, aportaré mi experiencia en enfermería
específicamente en el área de calidad, seguridad,

directores y el personal para desarrollar estrategias

Our community deserves a robust emphasis on innovation
and creating a model for rural health care that is affordable,
collaborative and inclusive. I will protect that right; support
patient navigation and ease of patient access; focus on
recruitment and retention of physicians/programs, and
build bridges that others have endeavored to dismantle.
Healthcare, its affordability and availability, is one of the
greatest challenges faced by our nation today. The Tahoe
Truckee region is not immune to this threat, but we must
endeavor to retain the amazing care we have enjoyed and
upon which we have come to depend and trust. For the
past 14 years I have devoted my energy to enhancing and
sustaining access to the highest level of healthcare
possible, while also assuring our community's vitality and
viability. Additionally, since 2011 I have served as a trustee
of the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. As a member
of the governing team, I participated in the greatest
turnaround in the history of the school district, and am
ready to bring my formidable skills and experience to
Tahoe Forest Hospital as a member of its governing team. I
understand the role and importance of strong board
governance, and respectfully ask for your vote.

Nuestra comunidad merece un fuerte énfasis en innovación
y creación de un modelo para la atención médica rural que
sea asequible, colaborador e inclusivo. Protegeré ese
derecho; apoyaré la navegación de pacientes y la facilidad
de acceso para los pacientes; me centraré en el
reclutamiento y la retención de médicos/programas, y
construiré puentes que otros se han dedicado a
desmantelar. La atención médica, su accesibilidad y
disponibilidad, es uno de los mayores desafíos que hoy
enfrenta nuestra nación. La región de Tahoe Truckee no es
inmune a esta amenaza, pero debemos dedicarnos a
retener la increíble atención que hemos disfrutado y de la
cual hemos llegado a depender y a confiar. Durante los
últimos 14 años, he dedicado mi energía a mejorar y
sostener el acceso al más alto nivel de atención médica
posible, asegurando a la vez la vitalidad y viabilidad de
nuestra comunidad. Además, desde 2011 me desempeño
como fideicomisario del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Tahoe
Truckee. Como miembro del equipo directivo, participé en
la recuperación más grande en la historia del distrito
escolar, y estoy listo para aportar mis formidables aptitudes
y experiencia al Hospital de Tahoe Forest como miembro
de su equipo directivo. Entiendo el rol y la importancia de

JOHN SUTRO MOHUN
ATTORNEY AT LAW
I was compelled to move to the Tahoe-Truckee area in
1979, in part, because of the areas dramatic beauty and
healthy lifestyle. During the 1980s and 1990s I worked at
Tahoe Forest Hospital and Incline Village Community
Hospital in the capacity of a paramedic and RN.
Employment at our hospital provided me with an
opportunity to live and work in Truckee while attending law
school at night in Sacramento. I currently work as an
attorney in Truckee. Health care plays a critical and
necessary role in our community. My number one goal is to
provide the highest quality of care at the most affordable
cost to everyone in our community and to all of our friends
and family who visit our district each year.
