mostofusareholybuttherealityisthatmostofusdonotviewourselvesassuch.Wereserve
thatstateforpriests,nuns,andtheoccasionalpersonthatjustseems“betterthan”us.
Sowhat’sgoingonhere?Whythediscrepancy?YourWorshipCommittee(whichismadeupof
peoplejustlikeyou)invitesyouonajourneytowardholinessthisLent.Ourgoalisthatby
Easter,youwouldbegintoseeyourselfasholy,andthatyouwouldbecontentintheknowledge
thatholinessisaforward‐movingprocesswithmoregrace‐filledmomentsthansetbacks.Itis
accomplishedoveralifetime,notaLent.Tohelpus,weareusingabookbyMatthewKelly,
RediscoverCatholicism,ASpiritualGuidetoLivingwithPassionandPurpose.
Kellyproposesthattherearethreephilosophiesthatareinfluencingourmodernworld.The

throughouttheweeksofLentandwehopeyouwilldiscover,orrediscover,howyoucanapply
thesetoyourlives.
Sowhatisholiness?HolinessisbeingeverythingthatGodcreatedeachtobe,andholinessisfor
EVERYONE.Whenwebecomethatperson,thenwebecomethe“Authentic,Best‐Version‐Of‐
Ourselves”peopleGodhadinmindwhenHecreatedus.Weareholywhenwehavethedesireto
knowGod’swillandsurrenderourwill.HolinessisthegoaloftheChristianlifeandouressential
purpose.Thisjourneyisinviting,exciting,andcontagiousbecauseotherswillwantwhatwe
have.Joininthejourney.Learnyourfaith.Relearnyourfaith.Practiceyourfaith.Becomeholy.
