The aim is to raise awareness among children and adults living in affected areas of the risks posed by landmines to prevent the occurrence of accidents. The campaign includes the presentation of a play specially created for children, with a message of self-awareness against the risk of land mines and UXOs. The Region of Arica and Parinacota (XV Region) is located in the north of the country, at an approximate distance of 2,000 kilometers from the capital of Chile. It has an area of 16,873.30 km², equivalent to 2.2% of the national territory. These mined areas are of mixed characteristics, containing mostly anti-personnel mines. To date 73 mined areas have been cleared, representing 82.02% completion. ACTIVITY The State of Chile, through the National Demining Commission, has committed to clear existing minefields in our country. Despite the unusual geography and adverse weather conditions, progress to free Chile of mines is ongoing.
