Part #3b: MyPlate SuperTracker Activity
Directions: Analyze the one-day meal plan you have created by using the SuperTracker feature on
www.choosemyplate.gov. First, visit the site and click on the “SuperTracker” link in the blue box near the
bottom of the web page which reads, “The SuperTracker can help you plan, analyze, and tracker your diet
and physical activity.” Next, click “Create Profile,” follow the on-screen prompts to create an individual
profile, and record your username, password, and profile name below.
Username:_________________________________________________________________________________
Password:_________________________________________________________________________________
Profile Name:_______________________________________________________________________________
Make sure that you are logged in by locating your chosen “profile name” on the screen. Now click on the
“Food Tracker >” link and enter the food items from your one-day meal plan using today’s date (do not
change the date throughout this activity). As you enter these food items, watch the graph and daily food
limits on the right side of the screen as SuperTracker calculates your food group totals and daily limits.
If you cannot find certain food items in SuperTracker, find the closest alternative possible. For example, you
will not find chicken parmesan in SuperTracker. Instead, you would need to look up “chicken” and select the
most appropriate type from the list. This would probably be the option that reads, “chicken, breast, baked,
skinless, breaded, breading eaten.” You would then need to look up the marinara sauce and cheese that
covered the chicken to make the dish chicken parmesan (of course, you probably ate pasta with it, so you
would need to look that up separately too).
Once your entire one-day meal plan has been entered into SuperTracker, click on “View By Meal” under the
bar graph, check that the dates in the “View Report from:” section matches the date you used previously for
this one-day meal plan. Print this page. Bring the report to your teacher and ask for Part #4.
