What is the Arizona Healthy Hearts Initiative (AHHI)? Qué es la Iniciativa para Corazones Saludables
en Arizona?
The AHHI aims to address health disparities in heart disease in Arizona by creating teams of Community
Health Workers (CHWs) who can provide heart health education, and share new online technical skills
among CHWs to increase access to online heart health information.
La IPCSA propone dirigirse a las disparidades en la salud con respecto a enfermedades cardiacas en
Arizona creando equipos de promotoras las cuales educarán en la salud del corazón y compartirán
nuevas habilidades técnicas con Promotores para incrementar el acceso a la información sobre la salud

The Southeast Arizona Area Health Education Center (SEAHEC), has partnered with Mariposa
Community Health Center (MCHC), the Arizona Community Health Outreach Workers Network
(AzCHOW), the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. (ITCA), and the Arizona Prevention Research Center
of the University of Arizona (AzPRC). Our “Train-the-Trainer” workshops will create two teams of master
trainers who will train an additional 160 heart health educators throughout Arizona in two National
Heart, Lung, Blood Institute heart health curricula.
El Centro Educativo del Sureste de Arizona ha colaborado con el Centro Comunitario de Salud Mariposa,
la Red de Promotoras de Salud de Arizona, el Concilio de Tribus de Arizona y el Centro de Investigaciones
Preventivas de Arizona. Los talleres crearán dos equipos de entrenadores quienes entrenarán 160
educadores en salud del corazón por todo Arizona en dos distintos currículos desarrollados por el
Instituto del Corazón, los Pulmones y la Sangre.

What is the Master Trainer Workshop? Qué es este taller?
Mariposa Community Health Center (MCHC) and Arizona Community Health Outreach Worker Network
(AzCHOW) will train 10 CHWs to be Master Trainers in the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute’s
(NHLBI) Spanish language Su Corazon, Su Vida, Your Heart, Your Life: A Lay Health Educators Manual for
the Latino Community.
El Centro Comunitario de Salud Mariposa y La Red de Promotores de Salud de Arizona entrenarán 10
Promotores en Su Corazón, Su Vida.
When and where will the workshop be held? Cuándo y dónde se hará este taller?
The Su Corazon, Su Vida Workshop will be held July 30-August 1, 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel
in Phoenix, Arizona. Applicants must be available to complete all two and one half days of the workshop.
El taller Su Corazón, Su Vida se llevará a cabo del 30 de Julio al 1ro de Agosto del 2012, en el hotel
Crowne Plaza del aeropuerto en Phoenix, Arizona. Las personas que se inscriban en el taller tendrán que
completar los dos días y medio del taller.
How much will it cost to attend the workshop? Hay costo alguno para atender el taller?
The workshop is free. All mileage, two nights lodging, and meals will be paid for each Master Trainer.
Applicants travelling from long distances might be granted additional nights lodging. Each Master Trainer
who attends the entire workshop will receive a tote bag with NHLBI materials and a Certificate of
Completion.
El taller es gratis. Su millaje, dos noches de hotel y su comida será patrocinada por el Centro Comunitario de
Salud Mariposa. Hay posibilidad de negociar noches adicionales en el hotel para personas que vienen de muy
lejos. Cada persona que atiende el taller completo recibirá una bolsa con materiales educativos y un
Certificado.

What will be expected of applicants selected for the Master Trainer Workshop? Cuál será la expectativa
para las personas seleccionadas para atender el taller?
Each Master Trainer will be expected to train at least 6 CHWs from two agencies on how to teach the Latino
curriculum.
La expectativa para cada participante del taller es de entrenar por lo menos 6 Promotores de Salud de dos
agencias en el uso del currículo Su Corazón, Su Vida.
What does the CHW organization commit to? Cuál es el compromiso que tiene la organización de
promotores?
The CHW organization must commit to supporting their staff person with the time and logistics necessary to
fulfill their training commitments. In addition, the CHW organization will be compensated up to $1000 for
completion of their contract.
La organización a la que pertenezcan los participantes se compromete a darle el apoyo necesario al promotor
para que el/ella pueda completar su compromiso. Además, la organización del promotor será recompensada
hasta $1,000 al completar su compromiso.
What post-workshop support is available for a Master Trainer? Qué tipo de apoyo recibirá el participante
después del taller?
All Master Trainers will have post workshop technical assistance support provided to them by AzCHOW.

How do I apply to become a Master Trainer? Cómo me inscribo en el taller?
