Fundamentación y descripción La conformación de la filosofía asistió en sus orígenes a la formulación de una línea potente y fecunda inspirada en la filosofía de Parménides y desarrollada en varias derivas. Los planteos posteriores se vieron en la necesidad de posicionarse frente al cúmulo de tesis asociadas con el eleatismo, de un modo que puede considerarse una clave de intelección importante del clima cultural de la época clásica. Este curso, organizado sobre la fórmula Ser o no ser: filósofos y sofistas frente al desafío eleático, propone explorar los núcleos conceptuales fundamentales del diálogo en torno de este tópico, partiendo de la filosofía de Parménides y de la reacción más iracunda encarnada en el pensamiento de Gorgias, para avanzar sobre esa base en la reconstrucción de la colisión teórica ocasionada en el seno del atomismo y de las filosofías socráticas entre la línea megárica, de inspiración eleática, y la línea platónica, que toma distancia crítica respecto de este viraje. De este modo, se avanzará en el estudio del Eutidemo, construido como una denuncia antimegárica, como clave para enmarcar otros pasajes de tensión teórica, y del Sofista, prestando atención a la lógica de apropiación de la filosofía de Parménides. Del mismo modo, en la generación siguiente, se analizará la obra de Aristóteles en sus aspectos intertextuales con las líneas megáricas contemporáneas del Estagirita en Refutaciones Sofísticas y Metafísica, así como su recepción de Parménides en Física, Metafísica y Sobre la generación y la corrupción. Este recorrido permitirá ahondar en aspectos fundamentales de la construcción ontológica y gnoseológica de las filosofías que nutrieron el imaginario de la época clásica y dejaron una impronta duradera en el pensamiento posterior. 2. Objetivos Es propósito del curso que el alumno - se ejercite en la lectura directa y análisis de textos antiguos atinentes al tema del curso, debidamente contextualizados; - acceda a algunas discusiones actuales sobre el problema especial a tratar, a través de la lectura de bibliografía secundaria especialmente seleccionada; - ejercite técnicas adecuadas de estudio y de trabajo intelectual y pueda utilizar provechosamente los materiales bibliográficos a los que tenga acceso; - desarrolle la capacidad de plantear con rigor problemas filosóficos, presentar una cuestión, argumentar sobre ella y hacer apreciaciones personales fundadas; - adquiera la capacidad de plantear con rigor los problemas filosóficos y sea capaz de presentar una cuestión y argumentar sobre ella con criterio propio. 3. Contenidos 1. Introducción. Rasgos generales del eleatismo. Problemas y desafíos teóricos que plantea. Relevancia de esta línea en la conformación del discurso filosófico de la época clásica. 2. El desafío de Parménides. Presentación de las vías y dificultades de su interpretación. Ser y noser en términos parmenídeos. Características y status del discurso físico en la última parte del Poema. Tipos de monismo atribuibles a Parménides. Diferencias con Zenón y Meliso. 3. El atomismo antiguo de Leucipo y Demócrito. La constitución de la realidad en términos de átomos y vacío. El vacío como causa o condición de posibilidad del movimiento. El atomismo como respuesta al eleatismo: ser y no-ser en términos atomistas. Mecanicismo, azar y necesidad. El discurso sobre átomos y vacío y sobre los fenómenos naturales. 4. Gorgias. La afrenta a los físicos. El antieleatismo del tratado Sobre el no ser o sobre la naturaleza: la inversión de Parménides. Ontología vs. logología. Ser, pensamiento y discurso. Análisis de los argumentos. 5. Filosofía megárica y eleatismo. Disputas sobre el origen teórico del grupo. La tesis de von Arnim y sus puntos débiles. El bien-uno, la tensión entre unidad-multiplicidad y los obstáculos epistemológicos derivados de este diagnóstico. Preceptivas metodológicas: negación de los razonamientos analógicos y objeción sobre conclusiones. La práctica de construcción de paradojas en Eubúlides. Los formatos típicos. Desarrollos megáricos en Estilpón y Diodoro Crono. 6. Platón frente al eleatismo. 6.1. Aspectos antimegáricos. El diálogo Eutidemo como testimonio antimegárico. El perfil de Eutidemo y Dionisodoro. Las imágenes monstruosas y la alusión al ruido. La paradoja del conocimiento. Alusiones a las Formas. Aspectos intertextuales. Rasgos megáricos de los argumentos iniciales del Parménides. Problemas de la participación. El argumento del tercer hombre en la versión de Políxeno. 6.2. El tratamiento de la figura de Parménides en los diálogos platónicos tardíos. La teoría de las formas como respuesta a la paradoja zenoniana y Parménides como heraldo de las críticas a las formas en el Parménides. Parménides "venerable y temible" en Teeteto 183e. Parménides y el Extranjero de Elea en el Sofista. 6.3. Aspectos antieleáticos. Platón vs. Parménides en el Sofista. El problema de la definición del sofista. No ser e imagen. La raíz parmenídea del problema del error. Imposibilidad del no ser e imposibilidad del error. Antecedentes en Eutidemo 283e-286b. Las aporías en torno a “lo que no es de ningún modo”. La crítica a Parménides en Física, Metafísica y Sobre la generación y la corrupción. La negación de la génesis y la lectura aristotélica de las dos vías parmenídeas: erística o aporía física. Condiciones de regularidad y régimen de promoción El curso comprende un total de seis (6) horas semanales de carácter teórico-práctico, dedicadas en su conjunto a la lectura y discusión de las fuentes y de la bibliografía secundaria. La materia se ajusta a las normas que rigen para las materias de promoción directa. La promoción directa de la materia se alcanza con el 80% de la asistencia a las clases teóricas y de trabajos prácticos, y un promedio mínimo de 7 (siete) puntos en los exámenes. Quienes no cumplan con estos requisitos, podrán alcanzar la regularidad para poder rendir examen final cumplimentando el 75% de la asistencia a las clases de trabajos prácticos y un promedio mínimo de 4 (cuatro) puntos en los exámenes parciales. 7. Recomendaciones Se recomienda a quienes se inscriban en la materia tener aprobada Historia de la Filosofía Antigua y, de preferencia, uno o más niveles de Lengua y cultura griegas. 8.
