(1) A MANAGER WHO HOLDS A MANAGER’S CERTIFICATION MAY BORROW A DVD. TO RESERVE A
DVD CALL: ( 940) 349-8321, (940) 349-8360 OR (940) 349-8375 . Bring a copy of your food manager’s certificate to
City Hall West at 221 N Elm; fill out a DVD loan form; submit a legible list of food handler students; and make a
payment of $25.00 per food handler. (Cards are good for two years) You will be issued the DVD and the tests forms.
When you return the video, we will grade the tests. We will then call you to pick up the food-handler cards and the
receipt of your payment. THE DVD IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR HOME USE.
NOTE: NO NAME SUBSTITUTIONS WILL BE PERMITED. FOR ANY NEW NAMES, PLEASE SUBMIT A
NEW APPLICATION.
***NOTE: Every food manager on shift is required to obtain a Manager Certification and register that certification
with the City of Denton. Cost is $10.
(2) ONLINE COURSES ARE AVAILABLE AT – (ONLINE COURSES ARE AVAILABLE IN SPANISH)
As of June 17th 2015, the City of Denton no longer requires food handlers to register their on-line certification if it’s thru
an ANSI certified course.

CITY ORDINANCE. FOR MULTIPLE CARDS, BRING COPIES OF THE ON-LINE CERTIFICATION
WITH ONE PAYMENT, CHECK OR MONEY ORDER ONLY AND DROP THEM OFF – THE FRONT
DESK STAFF WILL CALL YOU WHEN THE CARDS ARE READY TO BE PICK UP.

1. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER AND PAY:

WHEN: The Friday before the class in order to be eligible for the class.
 COST OF $25.00 per applicant for a 2 year card
 (CASH IS NO LONGER ACCEPTED AT THIS OFFICE)
 Checks should be made payable to the City of Denton.
-If you want to pay by MasterCard or Visa you may phone in the credit card number
and the expiration date to (940)349-8360 or (940)349-8321.
-You may fax a list of the names of persons you wish to register for the classes to
(940) 349-7208. The names need to be legible and please specify which class time
and date you want them to attend. No one will be registered for a class until
payment is received.
2. NO REFUNDS:
-The number of persons in the classroom is limited to 30. You will not be admitted
after the class has started. If you are not admitted to the class because of tardiness,
you will forfeit your $25.00 registration fee and you will be required to re-register for
another class.

 El costo es $25.00 por persona y la tarjeta es válida por 2 años
 NO se acepta dinero en efectivo
 Solo se aceptan cheques, tarjeta de crédito y debito (Visa, Master Card o
Discover) y Money Orders.
-Si desea pagar por teléfono con tarjeta de crédito Discover, Master Card o Visa
llame al (940) 349-8360 o al (940) 349-8321 con el número de tarjeta de crédito y la
fecha de caducidad.
-Usted puede enviar por fax una lista de los nombres de las personas que desean
registrarse para las clases al (940) 349-7208. Los nombres deben ser legibles, con un
nombre y número de contacto y especifique cual clase desea asistir. Alguien de
nuestra oficina le hablara para tomar su pago por teléfono. Nadie será registrado
para la clase hasta que se reciba el pago.
2. NO habrán reembolsos:
-El número de personas en el aula se limita a 30. No se admitirán después de haber
iniciado la clase. Si no es admitido en la clase debido a tardanza, perderá su cuota de
inscripción de $25.00 y tendrá que registrarse de nuevo.

City Ordinance Sec. 163.2
a.) The owner or operator of a foodservice establishment must have a valid food
protection manager’s certificate that is registered with the City of Denton
Consumer Health Division. The fee to register is $10.00.
b.) The owner or operator of a new foodservice establishment shall provide
verification to the Consumer Health Division, prior to the opening of the
establishment, that the establishment meets the Certified Food Protection
Manager requirements under Chapter 13 of the Food Code.
City Ordinance Sec. 229.163
a) Every person whose work brings them into contact with the handling of food,
utensils, or food service equipment must possess a valid food handler’s card.
These cards must be displayed at the food establishment.
b) Every person who owns manages, or otherwise controls any food service
establishment shall not permit any person to be employed therein who does
not possess a valid food handler’s card within ten (10) days of the date of their
employment.
City Ordinance Sec. 163.2
a.) El propietario o operador de un establecimiento de servicio de alimentos debe
tener el certificado de administración de protección de alimento válido que
este registrado con la División de Salud del Consumidor de la Cuidad de
Denton. La cuota de registro es $10.00.
b.) El propietario o operador de un nuevo establecimiento de servicio de
alimentos debe proporcionar verificación a la División de Salud de la
Consumidores, antes de la apertura del establecimiento, que el establecimiento
cumpla los requisitos de Certificados de Administración de Protección de
Alimentos bajo el capítulo 13 del código de alimentos.
City Ordinance Sec. 163.7
a) Cada persona cuyo trabajo les trae en contacto con el manejo de equipos de
servicios de alimentos, utensilios o manejo de alimentos debe poseer una
tarjeta valida de manipulador de alimentos. Esta tarjeta deberá mostrarse en el
establecimiento de alimento.
b) Cada persona que posee, administra o controla cualquier establecimiento de
servicio de alimentos no permitirá a ninguna persona para trabajar en el
establecimiento que no posee una tarjeta valida de un manipulador de
alimentos dentro de diez 10 días de la fecha de su empleo.
