activity. Activities should be limited to watching TV, playing quietly with toys inside and resting.
♦Your child may experience some nausea. If so, please allow only sips of clear liquids or Pedalite followed by softer foods.
Please do not give heavy foods (like hamburgers or pizza) to start with.

Your child received local anesthetic today. Please watch them closely and discourage them from chewing or biting the lips or
cheek. Lip bites are common with local anesthetic in children and can create a large canker sore. Some children become
very upset (even crying hysterically) and complain of excruciating pain when they realize their mouth feels “different.” Please
do not be alarmed! Many children are unfamiliar with this numb sensation and associate this with pain. Reassure your child that
the “funny feeling” will go away in approximately 2 hours.
♦A sealant has been placed on one or more of your child’s teeth in an effort to prevent cavities on the top surface of the tooth.
Your child must avoid eating ice or chewing on hard sticky foods, which can dislodge or chip the sealant. *Sealants do not protect
the surfaces in-between teeth so your child must still floss to prevent this type of cavity from developing between the teeth.
♦Most children usually adapt and adjust very well to new dental work. However, if some fillings are a bit deep due to the extent of the
decay, they may complain of some discomfort and sensitivity. Do not be alarmed! Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the tooth to settle
down and feel comfortable.
Crowns Nerve Y
Treatment The gum tissue surrounding a crown/cap may experience some bleeding/swelling. This is normal and will subside. Please do not
allow your child to eat sticky or hard foods for at least 48 hours.
*Success of a crown treatment can often be dependent
on care of the treated area. Even though the gums around the
crown may be sore and bleeding, cleaning and keeping the area free of bacteria is necessary by brushing the crowns well
at least 2 times per day.
*If your child’s crown does come off please save the crown and call the office immediately.
The success of this procedure depends on the severity of the inflammation of the nerve and the body’s reaction to the
treatment. Regular check-ups are recommended to keep the tooth under observation.

Pain/Bleeding/ If your
child appears to be in pain or discomfort you may give Advil or Tylenol. Bleeding and swelling are normal for up to 2 weeks.
Do not hesitate to call the office at 956-267-8502 If your child acquires excessive pain or fever. Please remember to keep the
swelling/ fever treatment area clean and free of bacteria.

Diet Do not allow child to eat any sticky, gooey or caramel type candies. These types of items frequently dislodge the spacer and
require that the appliance be re-cemented. Children may find the appliance uncomfortable at first but will get use to it with time.

hours following the dental procedure to prevent biting the lip or tongue while numb. The following foods are acceptable: milk
shake, ice cream, pudding, Jell-o, soup, mashed potatoes, noodles, yogurt or any other foods of this consistency

Su hijo estará somnoliento hasta que la sedación desaparece. Por favor, vigilar de cerca y asegurarse que su hijo evite las
actividades extenuantes. Las actividades deben limitarse a ver la televisión, jugando tranquilamente con juguetes en el interior de su
casa y descansando.
Su hijo puede experimentar náuseas. Si es así, por favor permita sólo sorbos de líquidos claros o Pedalite seguidos por alimentos
más blandos. Por favor, no le dé alimentos pesados tales como hamburguesas o pizza para empezar.
Anesthesia Lip/cheek biting Sellador Su hijo recibió anestesia local hoy. Por favor, ver de cerca y disuadirlos de masticar o morder los labios o en la mejilla. Mordeduras de labios son comunes con anestesia local en los niños y puede crear una gran úlcera bucal.
