El cuento de Navidad
Hay un muchacho. Se llama Carlos. Carlos es de Chihuahua, México. El tiene 15 años
y es un muchacho muy bueno. El tiene un amigo de Estados Unidos. El amigo es de
Boiling Springs, Carolina del Sur. El amigo se llama Anthony. Anthony es un muchacho
muy malo.
Carlos tiene una familia grande. El vive con su mamá, su papá, y sus cinco hermanos.
A Carlos le gusta mucho la Navidad. Un día, él dice, “Mamá, quiero invitar a mi amigo
Anthony para Navidad”. “Sí, es una buena idea,” dice la mamá. “Pero tú tienes que
hablar por teléfono con él, y yo tengo que hablar con su mamá”. “Sí, mamá, ¡Vamos a
llamar ahora!” Carlos llama a Anthony por teléfono y lo invita a México para Navidad.
Anthony dice, “¡Estoy emocionado! ¡Voy a pasar Navidad en México!”.
Anthony recoge la maleta y va al aeropuerto. El llega a México el jueves, 24 de
diciembre. Anthony ve a su amigo Carlos en el aeropuerto y grita en español, “¡Hola
amigo! ¡Feliz Navidad! ¿Dónde está Papá Noel?”
Carlos dice, “Tranquilo amigo, vamos a mi casa”. Los chicos van en taxi a la casa de
Carlos y ellos ven a la familia de Carlos. Ellos dicen, “¡Feliz Navidad Anthony!”
Anthony grita, “¿Dónde está Papá Noel? ¿Dónde están los regalos?” Anthony busca los
regalos pero los regalos no están.
La mamá se ríe y agarra una piñata grande. Ella dice, “Nosotros tenemos tradiciones
diferentes aquí en México. Aquí está la piñata, allá está el árbol de Navidad, y el
Nacimiento. Encima de la mesa están la flor de Nochebuena y los tamales. ¡Vamos a
comer!” Anthony dice, “Yo no tengo hambre. ¿Dónde está Papá Noel? ¿¿Dónde están
mis regalos??” Anthony llora y llora, pero la familia se ríe. Anthony está muy triste, y
llora por 5 días.
Después de 5 días, Anthony se levanta y dice, “¿Dónde están mis regalos?” La mamá
dice, “Aquí los Reyes Magos dan los regalos el 6 de enero – el Día de Reyes Magos, pero
hoy, ¡Vamos a celebrar Año Nuevo!”
Anthony y la familia van a la casa de los abuelos a las ocho de la noche. La familia
habla y habla, y come y come, pero Anthony llora. Carlos camina hacia Anthony y le da
12 uvas y dice, “A las doce de la noche nosotros comemos doce uvas porque es buena
suerte”. Anthony agarra las uvas y las come. Las uvas son muy ricas. Anthony grita,
“Me gustan las uvas, pero, ¿Dónde están mis regalos?” Anthony llora y llora, pero la
familia se ríe.
Anthony llora por 5 días más. Se levanta el miércoles, 6 de enero, y ve a la familia.
Carlos dice, “¡Feliz Día de Reyes Magos! ¡Aquí están los regalos!” Anthony agarra el
regalo y lo abre. El pregunta, “¿Qué es?” La mamá dice, “Es una comida muy rica. Se
llama Rosca de Reyes”. Anthony come la Rosca de Reyes y dice, “Me gusta mucho.
¡Gracias Papá Noel!” La familia dice, “No son regalos de Papá Noel. Son regalos de los
Reyes Magos. ¡Gracias a los Reyes Magos!”
Anthony se ríe y dice, “Ahora estoy contento porque tengo mi regalo. ¡Me gusta la
Navidad en México!”

How to write a TPR Story:
1) Most importantly, use our old stories as your guide! (Cuento del gato, El libro perdido, El cuento
de Navidad)
2) Use only vocabulary you know how to use.
3) Be very creative but DO NOT TRY TO TELL THE STORY IN ENGLISH FIRST! Pick out the
verbs/vocabulary/descriptions you need and base the story on that.
How to organize a TPR Story:
1) Identify the main character(s)
Ex: Hay un muchacho malo y perezoso
2) Describe him/her
Ex: A él le gusta comer sopa de pollo
3) Action of the story
Ex: Un día. . .
4) Problem of the story
Ex: El libro no está.
5) Crazy/Unexpected twist
Ex: El feo va a la escuela a buscar una banana.
6) Resolution
Ex: La otra muchacha le da su gato a la muchacha triste.
7) Ending
Ex: Ahora la muchacha está contenta

You must write a story based on our “Cuento de Navidad”.
Scenario: You invite a friend from a Spanish-speaking country to spend Christmas with you and your family.
You describe the traditions of your family and what a guest might see if he/she spent Christmas in your house.
Include places you go, things you do, foods, you eat, and any traditions you have. Be creative and find a way
to include at least 3 Spanish-speaking foods/traditions from your vocabulary sheet. You can make your story
as normal, or as crazy, as you’d like but it has to make sense in Spanish in present tense.
**Note: If you use an online translator, I will be able to tell. They are not reliable for this type of assignment.
Using one will result in a grade of “0”. Instead, use all the TPR stories, vocabulary, and Christmas drawings to
tell your story. For unknown vocabulary, ask me in class so that you don’t make mistakes when writing.
