VEGGIE FACTS!
1. Root vegetables grow underground and leafy, green vegetables grow about ground.
2. Vegetables that have seeds are actually considered fruit. This includes tomatoes,
cucumbers, green beans, pumpkins and squash!
3. In the 16th century, Dutch carrot growers invented the orange carrot in honor of the
House of Orange, the Dutch Royal Family. Their original color was purple.
4. The world’s most hated vegetable is the Brussels sprout because of its tendency to be slightly
bitter. This is why it is often prepared with a sweet glaze, usually balsamic vinegar, molasses
or honey.
