Dear Parent/Guardian of AISD 9th Graders:
In previous communications, we have informed you that 9th graders will be taking the new
State assessment, STAAR/End-of-Course (EOC), this coming spring. 9th graders will test
in the areas of English, Biology, World Geography, and Algebra 1 or Geometry. By the time
your student graduates they will need to have met the state cumulative passing standard on
12 EOC exams. Students will test in the course they are enrolled in. See table below:
English
Math
Science
Social
Studies
English 1
Algebra 1 or Geometry
Biology
10th graders English 2
11th graders English 3
Geometry or Algebra 2
Algebra 2
Chemistry
Physics
World
Geography
World History
US History
9th graders
Students will test on the following days:
March 26 Writing
March 27 Reading
May 8 Biology
May 10 World Geography
May 15 Algebra 1
May 16 Geometry
Students have 4 hours to complete the EOC exams. Regular schedule will follow. If students
do not pass, they will need to attend summer school and they will have another opportunity
to take the exam this summer. Summer school information will be sent at a later date.
If you have questions or need further explanation, please call your child’s counselor, Mrs.
Hyer, Assistant Principal, Ms. McGuire, or me. We will be glad to schedule an appointment to
discuss this new legislation and how it affects your child’s progress towards graduation.

Los estudiantes en el grado 9 tomarán el examen estandarizada de STAAR/final del curso
(EOC), esta primavera. Grado 9 pondrá a prueba en las áreas de Inglés, Biología, Geografía
Universal y Álgebra I o Geometría. Para graduarse, un estudiante debe obtener una
puntuación acumulativa en todas las 12 pruebas EOC de cada materia. Vea la lista siguiente:

Ellos tienen 4 horas para completar cada examen EOC y después seguirán el horario regular.
Si no pasan, los estudiantes tendrán que asistir a la escuela de verano y hay otra
oportunidad para tomar el examen en el verano. Mandaremos más información de escuela
de verano.
