MUMFORD HOME BULLETIN
EOC Testing: 8 – 11th graders taking the classes: US History, Algebra I and Biology will be taking their EOC (end
of course) exams Wednesday May 4th and Thursday May 5th. These are state mandated tests and MUST be passed
in order for a student to graduate. These tests are VERY important! Students should get a good night’s sleep, eat a
good breakfast, and bring all supplies including pencils.

6th Six Weeks Progress Report: Six weeks progress reports go home Wednesday, May 4th. Please review grades as
there are only a few more weeks left in school to pick up grades!
AP Calculus: Students that are taking AP Calculus will be taking the AP Calculus test on Thursday, May 5 th. If payment
is still owed then this money is due by Tuesday, May 3rd.
Band Concert: There will be a band concert at 2:30 on Thursday, May 5th in the gym. This concert is for all students
to attend. Later that night, at 5:00 pm in the HS gym the concert will be performed for parents and family. The band
has been working very hard and we are excited to hear their performance!
Awards Day: On Friday, May 6th we will have our Awards Program. Beginning at 9:00 awards will be presented to
students in grades PK – 2nd. At 10:00 students in grades 3 – 7th will be presented with awards. At 11:00 students in
grades 8 – 12th will be presented with awards. Awards that will be given include such awards as: All A-honor roll,
perfect attendance, citizenship awards, participation in extra curricular activities, etc. Not all students will be
receiving awards on award’s day. Following the 8 – 12th grade awards ceremony the National Honor Society will have an
induction of its new members. We will have an early release at 1:00 pm this day!
STAAR Testing: Next week, students in grades 3 – 8th will take their STAAR tests. ALL of these tests are very
important! Be sure that your child is getting plenty of sleep the night before the tests and they have a healthy,
nutritious breakfast. Your child may need to attend tutorials to help prepare for the tests. If you have any questions
on how to prepare for these tests, please contact your child’s teacher. We will also be giving students taking English
III and Algebra II the End of Course (EOC) test.

Grade “Worth the Wait” Meeting: On Thursday, May 12, at 5:00 Mrs. Smart will hold a parent meeting in her
classroom to discuss with parents the “Worth the Wait”, Scott and White program. Students should not attend this
meeting. She will be reviewing the curriculum and answering questions parent may have on the program.
Senior Scholarships: We have several scholarships that are due soon. Vietnam Veteran’s Scholarship is due on
Friday, May 6th, Wilson Drug Scholarship is due Tuesday, May 10th, and interviews for the American Legion will
take place on May 10th. Navasota Valley Coop and the Walnut Creek Scholarship are both due on Friday, May
13th. Please be sure to come in and check out the scholarships and get them turned in by the due date.
Field Day: On Friday May 13th we will have our annual Field Day! Fun is involved for all students. The PreK
students will be having their Field Day in the Primary Building and grades K – 5th will be having their activities
throughout the school grounds. Students in grades 6 – 12th boys will play their Basketball Tournament and the
girls their Volleyball tournament in the HS gym. Field Day begins after breakfast! Early Release: School dismisses at
12:00 this day!
Field Day Concessions: On field day the cheerleaders will have the concession stand open. More information to come
on prices and Mumford Spirit Special!
Hat Day: Sophomores will be sponsoring hat day if you bring $1.00 to school on field day -- you can wear a hat all
day! Students will be picking up money from your homeroom on Friday and handing out wrist bracelets to those
who pay a dollar!

Pruebas EOC: Grados 8 al 11 que toman las clases Historia de Estados Unidos, Álgebra I y Biología tomaran sus exámenes de EOC
(fin de curso) mayo 4 y 5. Estas son las pruebas exigidas por el estado y se deben pasar para que el estudiante se gradúe. Estas
pruebas son muy importantes! Estudiantes deben dormir bien la noche antes del examen, comer un buen desayuno, y traer todos sus
útiles.

Reportes de Progreso de 6 Seis Semanas: Reportes de progreso van a casa miércoles mayo 4. Por favor revise las
calificaciones ya que quedan sólo unos pocas semanas en la escuela para mejorar los grados!
Cálculo AP: Estudiantes que están tomando Cálculo AP tomarán su examen viernes mayo 5. El dinero para pagar el
examen se debe para martes mayo 3.
Concierto de Banda: La banda presentara un concierto a las 2:30 el jueves mayo 5 en el gimnasio. Este concierto sera
para todos los estudiantes. Más tarde ese día a las 5:00 pm se presentara el concierto para los padres y familiares. La
banda ha estado trabajando muy duro y estamos muy contentos de escuchar su rendimiento!
Día de Premios: El viernes mayo 6 tendremos nuestro Programa de Premios. Premios se les presentaran a los
estudiantes a las siguientes horas: Empezando a las 9:00 a estudiantes en grados PK al 2, a las 10:00 estudiantes en
grados 3 al 7, y a las 11:00 los estudiantes en grados 8 al 12 recibirán los suyos. Premios que se entregarán serán como:
Lista de Honor-Todas A’s, asistencia perfecta, premios de ciudadanía, participación en actividades extracurriculares,
etc. No todos los estudiantes recibirán premios. Después de la presentación de premios, la Sociedad Nacional de Honor
alistara sus nuevos miembros. Escuela terminara temprano a las 1:00 pm este día!
Pruebas STAAR: Estudiantes en grados 3 al 8 presentaran sus pruebas STAAR la siguiente semana. Todas estas
pruebas son muy importantes! Asegúrese de que su hijo/a duerma bien la noche antes de las pruebas y coman un
desayuno saludable y nutritivo. Es posible que su niño/a necesite asistir a tutoriales para prepararse para estas pruebas.
Si usted tiene alguna pregunta sobre cómo prepararlos para estas pruebas, comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo/a.
También vamos a dar a los estudiantes que toman Inglés III y Álgebra II la prueba de fin de curso (EOC).

Junta de “Vale la Pena Esperar”: El martes mayo 12 a las 5:00 la Sra. Smart tendrá una junta de padres en su salón
para hablar con los padres sobre el programa de Scott y White "Vale la Pena Esperar". Estudiantes no deben asistir a
esta reunión. Ella va a repasar el plan de estudios y responderá a cualquier pregunta que los padres tengan sobre el
programa.
Becas para Seniors: Tenemos varias becas que se deben pronto. Beca patrocinada por los Veteranos de Vietnam se
debe el viernes mayo 6, la de Wilson Drugs se debe martes mayo 10, y entrevistas para la de American Legion se
llevarán a cabo mayo 10. Becas patrocinadas por Navasota Valley Coop y Walnut Creek se deben viernes mayo 13. Vengan
y chequen las becas y entreguen las aplicaciones antes de la fecha de vencimiento.
Día de Campo: ¡El viernes mayo 13 tendremos nuestro Día de Campo anual! La diversión será para todos los
estudiantes. Estudiantes en PreK tendrán su Día de Campo en el edificio de primaria y grados K -5 tendrán sus
actividades alrededor de la escuela. Estudiantes en grados 6 - 12 tendrán su torneo anual del baloncesto en el
gimnasio de la HS. ¡El Día de Campo comienza después del desayuno! Salida Temprana: ¡La escuela se acaba a las
12:00 este día!
Concesiones del Día de Campo: Durante el Día de Campo las cheerleaders tendrán las tienditas abiertas.
Informacion adicional se dara muy pronto sobre los especiales.
Día de Sombrero: Estudiantes sophomores patrocinarán el Día de Sombrero durante el Dia de Campo. Si donas
$1.00 a la escuela puedes usar un sombrero todo el día! Estudiantes recogerán el dinero durante homeroom el viernes y
repartirán pulseras a los que paguen su dólar!
