Dear Candidate,
The following guidelines will help you choose the right sponsor for Baptism / Confirmation.
Having a sponsor is not just a one-time thing… It is significant, relationship for the rest of your life.
Candidates for Confirmation, as for Baptism, fittingly seek the spiritual help of a sponsor. (CCC. 1311)
Qualities of a Sponsor
1. Be designated by the one to be baptized (Confirmed).
2. Have completed the 16th year of age. (It is recommended that sponsor is older than the candidate)
3. Be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has already received the most holy sacrament of the
Eucharist and who leads a life of faith.
4. Not be the father or mother of the one to be baptized /Confirmed. (Can. 874 .1).

Tener un padrino/madrina es una relación importante que tendrá para el resto de su vida.
Las siguientes guías le ayudarán a elegir su padrino/madrina de Bautismo / Confirmación.
Los candidatos de la confirmación, como también los del bautismo, adecuadamente buscan la ayuda
espiritual de un padrino/madrina. (Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica. 1311)
Cualidades de un padrino/madrina
1. Haya sido elegido por quien va ser bautizado(a) / confirmado(a).
2. Haya cumplido 16 años de edad. (Se recomienda que el padrino/madrina sea mayor que el candidato(a).
3. Sea Católico(a) esté confirmado, haya recibido el santísimo sacramento de la Eucaristía y lleve una
vida conforme a la fe.
4. No sea el padre o la madre de quien se ha de bautizar/confirmar (Can. 874 .1).
