Divine Mercy Sunday
On April 30, 2000, St. Pope John Paul II canonized Sister Faustina Kowalska a saint of the Roman
Catholic Church. The canonization happened on the second Sunday of Easter. At the canonization Pope John
Paul II declared that the second Sunday of Easter from then on will be known as Divine Mercy Sunday for
the whole Church. This action of Pope John Paul II fulfilled a request made by Jesus through St. Faustina.
The Lord told Faustina: “I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially
poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. The soul that will go to Confession
and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.” …”Souls perish in
spite of My bitter Passion. I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. If they
will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity...tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because
the awful day, the day of My justice, is near.”
Mother Angelica of EWTN passed away on Easter Sunday. Many of us are so grateful to her for the
gift of EWTN. Every day the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed on EWTN at the mercy hour which begins
at 3 p.m. As we pray for the soul of Mother Angelica we remember her words that have a connection to the
Divine Mercy devotion. Mother said, “I’m not afraid to fail, … I’m scared to death of dying and having the
Lord say to me, ‘Angelica, this is what you might have done had you trusted more.’” Another time Mother
said, “A soul that trusts God is invincible.”
Jesus asked St. Faustina to put the words, “Jesus I trust in You” at the bottom of the Divine Mercy
image. On this Divine Mercy Sunday, may we grow in our trust of God our Father who loves us with infinite
love and mercy.

May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy
of God rest in peace. May our Lord Jesus take them to the glory of his

COUPLES FOR CHRIST is having a Christian Life Seminar on April
9th and 10th, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church
in Christiansted. Topics include: God’s love, Who is Jesus Christ, What
it means to be a Christian, Repentance and Faith, Loving God and neighbor, The Christian family, Life in the Holy Spirit, Receiving the Power
of the Holy Spirit, Growing in the Spirit, and Transformation in Christ.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided, so please sign up on the sheet at the
entrance of the church so that we can accommodate everyone. For further

There will be BINGO next Sunday, April 10th from 2:00 p.m.

of Living Praise Worship Ministry Band from Steubenville, Ohio. Living Praise Worship Ministry Band will be performing on Friday, April

“JUNTOS CONSTRUYENDO EL REINO DE DIOS”
DOMINGO DE LA DIVINA MISERICORDIA
El 30 de abril de 2000, el Papa san Juan Pablo II canonizó a la hermana Faustina Kowalska como Santa
de la iglesia católica romana. La canonización ocurrió en el segundo domingo de Pascua. En la canonización el
Papa Juan Pablo II declaró que el segundo domingo de Pascua de ahí en adelante será conocido como el Domingo
de la Divina Misericordia para toda la iglesia. Esta acción de Papa Juan Pablo II satisfizo una petición hecha por
Jesús a través de santa Faustina. El Señor le dijo a Faustina: “Deseo que la Fiesta de la Misericordia sea refugio
y amparo para todas las almas y sobre todo para los pobres pecadores. Ese día se abren las profundidades de mi
tierna Misericordia. El alma que se confiese y reciba la Santa Comunión, obtendrá completo perdón de pecados
y castigo”...”almas perecen a pesar de mi amarga pasión. Les doy la última esperanza de la salvación; es decir, la
Fiesta de mi Misericordia. Si ellos no adoran mi Misericordia, perecerán por toda la eternidad... dile a las almas
sobre esta gran misericordia Mía, porque el día terrible, el día de mi justicia está cerca.
“Madre Angélica de EWTN falleció el domingo de Pascua. Muchos de nosotros estamos muy agradecidos
de ella por su regalo del canal de EWTN. Todos los días la coronilla de la Divina Misericordia se reza en EWTN
a la hora de la misericordia que comienza a las 3:00 p.m. Al rezar por el alma de Madre Angelica, recordamos
sus palabras que tienen una conexión a la devoción de la Divina Misericordia.”La Madre dijo: no tengo miedo al
fracaso” tengo miedo a morir y que el Señor me diga: ‘Angélica, esto es lo que podrías haber hecho si me tuvieras
más confianza.’ “Otra vez la Madre dijo: “El alma que confía en Dios es invencible.” Jesús dijo a santa Faustina
que pusiera las palabras, “Jesus en Tí Confío”en la parte inferior de la imagen de la Divina Misericordia.
En éste domingo de la Divina Misericordia, podemos nosotros crecer en nuestra confianza de Dios nuestro
padre que nos ama con infinito amor y misericordia.

PAREJAS POR CRISTO tendrá un seminario de vida cristiana en
inglés, los días 9 y 10 de abril del 2016 de 8:30 a.m. a 5:00 p.m. en
la iglesia de Holy Cross en Christiansted. Los temas incluyen: amor
de Dios, que es Jesucristo, lo que significa ser un cristiano, el arrepentimiento y la fe, amor a Dios y al prójimo, la familia cristiana,
la vida en el Espíritu Santo, recibiendo el poder del Espíritu Santo,
creciendo en el espíritu y la transformación en Cristo. Se proveerá
desayuno y almuerzo. Favor de firmar la hoja que hay en la entrada
de la iglesia para que asi podamos acomodar a todo el mundo. Para

Habrá un BINGO el próximo domingo 10 de abril de 2:00 p.m.
a 6:00 p.m. en el “Rotary West Community Center” Estate Lagrange,
Frederiksted, para recaudar fondos a beneficio de la escuela de San
Patricio, habrá muchos premios. Tendrán comida y bebidas a la venta.
MAGNIFICAT. El Capítulo Magnificat de Sta. Cruz celebrará
sus 30 años como capítulo, el domingo 17 de abril de 2016 en el
restaurante Gertrude’s a las 12:30 p.m. los tickets son a $40.00 por
persona. Nuestra oradora invitada es Karen Herrmann de la Banda
de Ministerio de Vida Alabanza Adoración de Steubenville, Ohio. La
Banda del Ministerio de Vida Adoración y Alabanza estará actuando
el viernes 15 de abril de 2016 aquí en la iglesia de San José a las 6:30
p.m. Habrá una ofrenda voluntaria para el beneficio de la Escuela
Superior de San José. El tema es «Festival de Alabanza».

Señor Jesucristo
Manda tu Espíritu y conságranos a todos con su
unción para que el Jubileo de la Misericordia sea
un año de gracia del Señor y tu Iglesia pueda, con
renovado entusiasmo, llevar la Buena Nueva a los
pobres, proclamar la libertad a los prisioneros y
oprimidos y restituir la vista a los ciegos.
Te lo pedimos por intercesión de María, Madre de
