Stewardship
COMPROMISO PARROQUIAL
In the first reading, Isaiah urges us in the name of the Lord to feed
the hungry, shelter the homeless, and clothe the naked. If we do so,
he assures us, the Lord will hear and answer our cries for help in time
of need.

notes from fr. tom
• Our Seminarian Tony Orantes withdrew from the Seminary in Houston - he is no longer
studying for our Diocese. I spoke to him by phone two weeks ago and we sent him a
good sum from the Parish to help him transition. He told me he was going to apply to
a group of priests in Mexico City. We do not need to send him any more money - he is
well taken care of.
• I also spoke to Fr. Kevin this week - he is still in Capetown and his health issues are
being resolved and he should return about the middle of the month. We do not need
to send him money as he still receives his salary while gone - he is well taken care of.
• I had a very good retreat at San Juan, Texas - stayed at the Pilgrim House (which is
being renovated) at the Basilica and said several Masses and helped with several hours
of confessions - lots and lots of folks on the weekend. I did light a candle for my personal
family and one for my parish family.
• Coca-Cola bottle tops and carton ends - there are numbers on the bottle tops and carton ends of Coca-Cola and Sprite and these can be entered for points to receive school
supplies. Save for me if you remember - Thanks.
• We are putting a roof on the slab for outdoor food sales after Masses - looking good!
• I received a sample of the little box for the Ashes to Easter Lent Project this year. Theme
is Year of Hope. You will be invited to participate and bring hope to Mission areas, and
also bring hope to ourselves as we notice how our help brings hope to others. A lovely
mystery.

at Travis Heights Elementary, Wed., Feb. 9th
Are you concerned about the future of your
neighborhood school? Worried about the Austin
Independent School District budget cuts? Austin
Interfaith member organizations will be meeting
to discuss these issues and their potential impact
on our families. The Travis Heights Elementary
School PTO will be hosting us at the Travis Heights
Elementary School cafeteria (2010 Alameda Drive).
Come if these are matters that concern you. Call
Gina Hinojosa at 426-8361 for info or to carpool
to the meeting from St. Ignatius.
