Daily life gives us many moments
of joy, but life is not always this way,
often, life also gives us moments of
sadness, suffering, and pain. However, we
love life and we cling onto it because we
discover that all life is a marvelous gift
from God.
Our faith helps us to give
meaning, and also, meaning to the
suffering, to the cross that each has to
take. Jesus carried his cross out of love for
us, however, we cannot say that has made
our cross lighter. In the creed we affirm
that “He suffered” as a statement against
a heresy that was called Docetism and
claimed that only “seemed to suffer”
As Jesus’s disciples, each of us, have our own crosses
to bear and we can carry them alone or together with Christ.
Carrying the cross with Christ does not make it lighter, but
gives meaning to our cross because by uniting our suffering
with Christ we make it redeem. We suffer because of
something and for something. We suffer with Christ savior
and redeemer.
The everyday cross is the very cross we have to carry.
When it is out of love we accept it not only with resignation,
but rather with joy because we love. It is the cross that comes
from our love for a spouse who suffers and makes us suffer. Of
our love to an elderly parent whose illness and old age have
become a painful burden for the children who provide care. Of
our love for a son that causes us pain because of his rebellion,
of our love for family that makes us work from sun to sun to
be able to provide a home, clothing, and sustenance.
What makes the difference between a cross without
meaning and a saving cross is not looking for ourselves
because there are foolish crosses without meaning that are
born out of selfishness and that we ourselves make heavier,
especially because we do not carry it following Christ. It is
those crosses that make us no longer appreciate and forsake
life. Beside us walk many men and women who carry their
cross with dignity.
Today let us celebrate fathers in the same way we
have celebrated mothers. It is without a doubt that the
paternity is a joy, but all responsibility requires sacrifice.
Our fathers have had a very difficult role and at the
same time very beautiful. It is up to them to be the first
image of parenthood of God for their children. Because of our
fathers here on earth, we can understand who our Heavenly
Father is and we can love Him in the same way we love our
father.
Our earth father is provident, although in that life
will be spent; he is just and knows how to listen; he is
merciful; he is kind and knows how to give affection; he knows
how to have time to play with his children and to be with
them; his honor and honesty are an example to follow. That is
his cross!

La vida diaria nos da muchos
momentos de felicidad, pero no siempre es
así, con mucha frecuencia nos da también
momentos de tristeza, de sufrimiento y
dolor. Y, sin embargo, amamos la vida y
nos aferramos a ella porque descubrimos
que toda ella es un regalo maravilloso de
Dios.
Nuestra fe nos ayuda a darle
sentido, también, al sufrimiento, a la cruz
que a cada uno nos toca llevar. Jesús llevó
su cruz por amor a nosotros, pero no
podemos decir que eso la hiciera menos
pesada. En el Credo afirmamos que
“padeció” como una afirmación en contra
de una herejía que se llamó Docetismo y
que afirmaba que tan sólo “parecía que sufría”.
Los discípulos de Jesús tenemos, cada uno de
nosotros, nuestra propia cruz que llevar y podemos hacerlo
solos o junto con Cristo. Llevar la cruz con Cristo no la hace
más ligera, pero le da sentido a nuestra cruz porque al unir
nuestro sufrimiento al de Cristo lo volvemos redentor.
Sufrimos por algo y para algo. Sufrimos con Cristo salvador y
redentor.
La cruz de cada día es la cruz propia que nos toca
cargar. Cuando es consecuencia de nuestro amor la aceptamos
no sólo con resignación, sino con gusto, porque amamos. Es la
cruz que viene de nuestro amor a un cónyuge que sufre y nos
hace sufrir, de nuestro amor a un padre anciano cuya
enfermedad y vejez se han vuelto una penosa carga para los
hijos que lo atienden, de nuestro amor a un hijo que nos causa
dolor por su rebeldía, de nuestro amor a la familia que nos
hace trabajar de sol a sol para poder darles casa, vestido y
sustento.
Lo que hace la diferencia entre una cruz sin sentido y
una cruz salvadora es el no buscarnos a nosotros mismos,
porque hay cruces tontas, sin sentido, que nacen del egoísmo y
que nosotros mismos hacemos pesadas, sobre todo porque no
las cargamos en seguimiento de Cristo. Son esas cruces que
hacen que ya no apreciemos la vida y que reneguemos de ella.
A nuestro lado caminan muchos hombres y mujeres
que llevan su cruz con dignidad.
Hoy celebramos a los papás como hemos celebrado ya
a las mamás. No cabe duda que la paternidad es un gozo, pero
toda responsabilidad exige sacrificio.
A nuestros papás les ha tocado un papel muy difícil,
pero muy bello a la vez; a ellos le toca ser para sus hijos la
imagen primera de la paternidad de Dios. Por nuestros papás
de la tierra podemos comprender quién es nuestro Padre del
cielo y podemos amarlo como amamos a nuestro papá.
Nuestro papá de la tierra es providente, aunque en
ellos se le vaya gastando la vida; es justo y sabe escuchar; es
misericordioso; es tierno y sabe dar cariño; sabe tener tiempo
para jugar con sus hijos y para estar con ellos; su honradez y
honestidad son un ejemplo a seguir. ¡Esa es su cruz!
MISSION OF GUADALUPE
MISION GUADALUPANA
The Guadalupe Mission is taking place in
Our Community Parish, including Bridgeport
and Lee Vining.
Each week a new family will take with them
the Pilgrim Image of the Virgin of Guadalupe
and take it home, where all the neighbors will
be invited to participate in the Rosary and
taught the subjects of evangelization for a few
missionaries to accompany the family during
the week. On Friday’s, Father Jorge will
celebrate Mass in that house and there will be
fellowship. This family will deliver the image to
a new family. It will be accompanied during the
week by other missionaries.
If you want to receive the Pilgrim image of
the Virgin of Guadalupe in your house, please
give your details to Ms. Marisela Ayala at (760) 914-0575 or
give your information to Father Jorge.
La Misión Guadalupana se está llevando a
cabo en Nuestra Comunidad Parroquial, incluyendo
Bridgeport y Lee Vining.
Cada semana una nueva Familia recogerá el
Cuadro de la Virgen Peregrina y la llevará a su casa
donde todos los vecinos serán invitados para que
participen del Santo Rosario y de los temas de
Evangelización impartidos por un par de Misioneros
que acompañarán a la Familia durante la Semana.
Los Viernes, El Padre Jorge celebrará la Santa Misa
en esa casa y habrá convivio. Esta Familia entregará
la Imagen a otra nueva Familia que será
acompañada durante la semana por otros
misioneros.
Si quieres recibir la Imagen Peregrina en tu
casa, por favor dale tus datos a la Sra. Marisela
Ayala al final de la Misa de 5:30 p.m. el Domingo o llámale al

CONFIRMATIONS
This Sacrament completes in fullness what
was initially given to us with the Sacrament of
Baptism, in which we receive the Holy Spirit. While
Baptism is a divine gift given to us by entrusting us in
the faith of our parents and godparents who
responded with a commitment to form us in the faith
of the church, now, with the use of reason, we freely
“confirm” our desire to follow Christ committedly. The
Bishop, by anointing us with Chrism, fully gives us the power of this Holy Spirit
manifested in the divine gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude,
knowledge, piety and fear of God.
This coming Sunday, June 26 at 5 pm, 22 young people from our
community, who have been thoroughly prepared, will received Confirmation from
Bishop Stephen Blaire. Everyone is invited to share this joyous event in our Church at
St. Joseph.

Este Sacramento completa en
plenitud lo que se nos dio en principio con el
Sacramento del Bautismo en el que recibimos el
Espíritu Santo. Si bien, el Bautismo es un regalo
divino que se nos dio confiándonos en la fe de
nuestros padres y padrinos que respondían con
el compromiso de formarnos en la fe de la
Iglesia, ahora, con uso de razón, libremente se
¨confirma¨ el deseo de seguir a Cristo comprometidamente y el Obispo,
mediante la unción con el Santo Crisma, nos da en plenitud la fuerza de este
Santo Espíritu que se manifiesta en los Divinos Dones de sabiduría,
entendimiento, consejo, fortaleza, ciencia, piedad y temor de Dios.
El Domingo 26 de Junio a las 5 p.m., 22 jóvenes de nuestra
comunidad que se han preparado concienzudamente, han de recibir la
Confirmación de manos de nuestro Obispo Stephen Blaire. Todos están
invitados a compartir esta alegría en nuestra Iglesia de San José.

Jesus expressed that there is no other, born from
woman, greater than His cousin, John. That is why he is
mentioned in the Liturgy, in order of importance, after the
Virgin Mary. The Church solemnly celebrates his birth on
June 24. On that day we will have the English Mass at 7 a.m.
at the Rectory and in Spanish at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph
Church.
