La Obediencia del Corazón
Cuando piensa en la relación entre Dios y el hombre no puede
subestimar el valor de la obediencia bíblica. La responsabilidad
bíblicamente del ser humano es obedecer a Dios según su voluntad,
como el salmista escribió, “De todo mal camino contuve mis pies,
para guardar tu palabra” (Salmo 119:101). La frase “para guardar
tu palabra” significa la obediencia a Dios, pero esto no es todo porque
antes el salmista escribió, “Oh cuánto amo yo tu ley” (Salmo 119:97).
El autor quería obedecer a Dios con todo su corazón. A veces hay dos
extremos en los que estamos. Uno es solamente creer en Dios sin
obedecerlo y el otro es hacer las acciones de obediencia pero sin la
participación del corazón humano. La palabra de Dios nos explica la
importancia de la obediencia con todo el corazón por estas razones.
Primero, porque el corazón es el lugar donde moran las
actitudes, los motivos, la fe y la voluntad del ser humano. Por
exactamente esta razón Jesús dijo: “Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo
tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente” (Mateo 22:37).
Se nota que Jesús usó palabras (corazón, alma y mente) que reflejan al
ser humano en total. Cada palabra significa un aspecto del ser humano:
su capacidad de tomar decisiones, tener una voluntad y amar. Todos
estos elementos forman parte de la obediencia humana a Dios. El autor
de Hebreos escribió, “Pero sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios...”
(Hebreos 11:6).
Segundo, porque la obediencia es la combinación del corazón,
alma, mente y acciones apropiadas por Dios. El ser humano no tiene el
derecho de iniciar sus propias acciones respecto a la obediencia, sino
debe obedecer las acciones establecidas en la palabra de Dios. Los
romanos obedecieron a Dios del corazón. “Pero gracias a Dios, que
aunque erais esclavos del pecado, habéis obedecido de corazón a
aquella forma de doctrina a la cual fuisteis entregados” (Romanos
6:17). Se puede ver que ellos moldearon la mente y el corazón a la
voluntad de Dios, y esta es la verdadera obediencia a Dios.
Dios quiere que cada individuo tome la decisión de obedecerlo
con todo el corazón. Cuando esto sucede, existe la unidad con la
voluntad de Dios y la voluntad del ser humano para producir la
salvación del alma (Juan 3:16, Romanos 5:8, Hechos 2:38, Gálatas
3:27, Efesios 2:5-10). Que hagamos la voluntad de Dios con todo el
corazón.

Obedience from the Heart
When one thinks of the relationship between God and man the
value of biblical obedience cannot be underestimated. The biblical
responsibility of the human being is to obey God according to his will,
as the Psalmist wrote, “I have refrained my feet from every evil way,
that I might keep thy word” (Psalms 119:101). The phrase “keep thy
word” means obedience to God, but this is not all because before the
Psalmist wrote, “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day”
(Psalms 119:97). The author wanted to obey God with all his heart.
At times there are two extremes. One is to only believe in God without
obeying him and the other is to do the actions of obedience, but
without the participation of the human heart. The word of God tells us
the importance of obedience with the whole heart for these reasons.
First because the heart is the dwelling place of attitudes,
motives, faith and the will of the human being. For exactly this reason
Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matthew 22:37). Note that
Jesus used the words (heart, soul and mind) that reflect the total
human. Every word signifies an aspect of the human being: his ability
to make decisions, to have a will and to love. All of these elements
form part of the human obedience to God. The author of Hebrews
wrote, “But without faith it is impossible to please him” (Hebrews
11:6).
Second because obedience is a combination of the heart, soul,
mind and actions which are directed by God. The human does not have
the right to initiate his own actions with respect to obedience, but must
obey the actions established in the word of God. The Romans obeyed
God from the heart, “But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of
sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was
delivered you” (Romans 6:17). It can be seen that they conformed the
mind and heart to the will of God, and this is true obedience unto God.
God desires that every individual make the decision to obey
him with the whole heart. When this happens, unity exists between the
will of God and the will of man to produce the salvation of the soul
(John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:27, Ephesians 2:510). May we do the will of God with the whole heart.
