Guía de los Verbos Modales en Inglés El Uso de los Verbos Modales en Inglés • can – habilidad, pedido, permiso, posibilidad • could – habilidad, pedido, permiso, posibilidad, sugerencia • may – pedido, permiso, probabilidad • might – posibilidad, probabilidad, sugerencia • must – dedución, necesidad, obligación, prohibición • shall – decisión, futuro, ofrecimiento, pregunta, sugerencia • should – consejo, predicción, recomendación • will – decisión, futuro, intención, ofrecimiento, predicción, promesa, sugerencia • would – condicional, hábito, invitación, pedido, permiso, preferencia, pregunta, sugerencia Quasi Modal Verbs (verbos modales hechos por más de una palabra): • ought to – consejo, predicción, recomendación • used to – solía hacer • would rather – preferencía • had better/best – consejo, obligación, sugerencia La Estructura de los Verbos Modales en Inglés • verbo modal + infinitive sin “to” = will study • verbo modal + be + participio presente = will be studying • verbo modal + have + participio pasado = will have studied • verbo modal + be + participio pasado = will be eaten o o o o • I will be studying all day. – Estaré estudiando todo el día. I will have studied for my test by Friday. – Habré estudiado para mi examen antes del viernes. All of the cake will be eaten. – Todo el pastel estará comido. verbo modal + have + been + participio presente = will have been studying o • I will study tomorrow. – Estudiaré mañana. I will have been studying for my test for three days as of today. – Habré estado estudidando para mi examen por tres días a partir de hoy. verbo modal + have + been + participio pasado = will have been eaten o The appetizers will have been eaten before the main course arrives. – Los aperativos estarán comidos antes de que llegue los platos. • verbo modal + be + being + participio pasado = will be being cleaned • verbo modal + have + been + being + participio pasado = will have been being cleaned o The church will have been being cleaned by the time we arrive. - o The church will be being cleaned when we arrive. - Para hacer una negación solo se agrega “not” después del verbo modal: • She will not study. • She will not be studying. • She will not have studied. • It will not be eaten. • She will not have been studying. • It will not have been eaten. • It will not be being cleaned. • It will not have been being cleaned.
