Pastor’s Letter, June 2010

Dear Family in Christ:
When a phone or cell rings, our intention, and sometimes immediate reaction is to respond to find out who
it is, or what they want from us. We all like to be asked to join others to participate in moments of joy, and
of building community. During the month of June we pray for an increase of vocations. We ask the Lord to
“call” and “invite” our Church members to respond to this special call to serve the Church. In our parish
that call could be that of becoming a priest, a deacon, or a Samaritan Missionary. We do not need to be
saints. Many recognized saints were great sinners, but who heard the call from the Lord, and responded
whole heartedly. Are you willing to respond? What is holding you back? Is it fear? Is it like the prophets
of old (Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc.) who did not feel worthy of the call? What about those who tried to get away
with excuses of “having a dirty mouth, being too young, being too old, not knowing what I am supposed to
do (like Jonah)?. Why try to hide from the Lord.? He knows when you sit and when you stand. He always
knows where you are at in life, and when he calls he would like to hear back. Next time you hear your
phone or cell ring, ask yourself….Is it from the Lord?
June is also dedicated to Sacred Heart of Jesus. Our side chapel is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
and it would be a good month for us to spend more time in prayer in our chapel. Let us take this
opportunity to bring before the Sacred Heart of Jesus our prayers for vocations in our Church.
We continue to express our gratitude to Jack Garcia, Elsa Vielman, Christina Rodriguez, Marco Rodriguez
and Louis Ruiz for all the work being done for the sake of all our parish. Our entrance door is being
upgraded through a donation made by a family that wants to remain anonymous. Let us keep that family in
our prayers.
Fr. Everett Spees sent us a note asking for prayers for his ailing wife, Anne. Let us dedicate the month of
June for healing for Anne Spees. We also lift our prayers for Amparo de la Cruz, mother of Aurora RivasHernandez (SM) and Letty Sanchez (SM). We thank the Lord that our brother Chano Sanchez’s medical
tests results were all negative. We pray for Jacob Perez and his knee problems. We continue praying for
the intentions of Dr. Guali and Lourdes Marrero. We also thank the Lord for Carey, Martha, Roberto, Gina
and Raymond who have been attending our Church and getting to know many of our members. Special
thanks to Aurora (SM), Fred (SM) , Letty (SM) and Socorro (SM) for the work done for the Bingo.
Please keep in your prayers the upcoming General Synod that will take place in Canada from October 4
through the 8. We will be sending 2 representatives, but visitors will be welcomed. We plan to leave on
Sunday, October 3 after Mass., and return on Saturday, October 9. More information will be available
soon. ON SUNDAY, JUNE 13, AFTER THE 10:30 MASS, A PARISH GROUP PICTURE WILL BE
TAKEN TO SEND TO CANADA FOR A CHURCH ALBUM. PLEASE GET READY FOR THIS WITH
A BIG SMILE!

Querida Familia en Cristo:

Cuando el teléfono o el celular suena, nuestra intención, y algunas veces nuestra inmediata reacción es de
contestar para saber quien es, o qué es lo que quieren. A todos nos gusta que nos pidan que nos unamos con
otros para participar en momentos de alegría, y en construir nuestra comunidad. Durante el mes de junio
oramos por el aumento de vocaciones. Le pedimos al Señor que “llame” e “invite a miembros de nuestra
iglesia para que respondan a este llamado especial de servir a la iglesia. Para nuestra parroquia eso se
puede hacer realidad por medio del sacerdocio, el diaconado o de los Samaritanos Misioneros. No tenemos
que ser santos. Muchos santos reconocidos fueron gran pecadores, pero quienes escucharon el llamado del
Señor, y respondieron de todo corazón. ¿Estás dispuesto a responder? ¿Qué te lo impide? ¿Tienes miedo?
¿Será como los profetas de antaño (Isaías, Jeremías, etc.) quienes no se sintieron dignos del llamado, o
quienes trataron de escaparse con las excusas de “tener la boca sucia, de ser muy jóvenes, o demasiado
viejos, no sabiendo que es lo que tenemos que hacer (como Jonás). ¿Por qué tratar de esconderse del
Señor? El bien sabe cuando estamos de pie y cuando nos sentamos. El siempre sabe donde te encuentras
en la vida, y cuando El llama le gustaría una respuesta. La próxima vez que oigas el teléfono sonar,
pregúntate….¿Es el Señor?
Junio es también dedicado al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. Nuestro salón de oración está dedicado al
Sagrado Corazón, y sería un buen mes para que pasemos un tiempo en orando en ese salón. Tomemos la
oportunidad para traer al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús nuestras oraciones por vocaciones para nuestra iglesia.
Continuamos dándole las gracias a Jack García, Elsa Vielman, Cristina Rodríguez, Marco Rodríguez y Luis
Ruíz por toda la labor que han hecho por el bien de la parroquia. La puerta de entrada a la iglesia está
siendo renovada por medio de una donación de una familia que desea mantenerse anónima. Mantengamos
a esa familia en nuestras oraciones.
El Padre Everett Spees nos envió un mensaje pidiendo por oraciones por su esposa Ana, quien está
enferma. Dediquemos el mes de junio para el Señor sane a Ana Spees. También oramos por Amparo de la
Cruz, la mamá de Aurora Rivas-Hernández (SM) y de Letty Sánchez (SM). Le damos gracias al Señor que
los estudios médicos de nuestro hermano Chano Sánchez fueron negativos. Oramos por Jacobo Pérez y los
problemas de su rodilla. Continuamos orando por las intenciones de Guali y Lourdes Marrero. También le
damos las gracias al Señor por Carey, Martha, Roberto, Gina y Raymond quienes han estado orando con
nosotros en nuestra iglesia y que han estado conociendo a muchos de nuestros parroquianos. Mil gracias a
Aurora (SM), Fred (SM), Letty (SM) and Socorro (SM) porel trabajo para el bingo).
Por favor oren por el Sínodo General que se aproxima que se llevará a cabo en Canadá del 4 al 8 de
octubre. Vamos a enviar 2 representantes, pero visitantes son bienvenidos. Planeamos viajar al domingo, 3
de octubre después de la misa de las 10:30 am., y regresaremos el 9 de octubre. Le proporcionaremos mas
información tan pronto la tengamos. EL DOMINGO 13 DE JUNIO, DESPUES DE LA MISA DE LAS
10:30 VAMOS A TOMAR UNA FOTO DE LOS MIEMBROS DE LA PARROQUIA PARA ENVIARLA
