First Sunday of Lent Archbishop’s Appeal: Countless lives are touched by every contribution to the 2015 Archbishop’s Appeal. Children, seminary students, the sick and the aged, the needy - they all depend on our generosity. Thank you for pledging today to help meet our parish goals of $9,606 for St. James; $3,912 for Sacred Heart and $1,482 for St. Patrick, and to assure the continuation of these programs and services. Stations of the Cross: Our Parish Altar Society invites you to join them in praying the Stations this Wednesday, Feb. 25, 6 pm at St. James. Stations will also take place at Sacred Heart this Friday at 6:30: at St. Patrick Friday 9:30 am and 6:30 pm; and St. James Friday 6 pm. We look for volunteer families to help host the Friday Stations at St. James; call Fr. Paul if you can help. This Friday our Stations will be taken from “Mary’s Way of the Cross”. Adult Faith Formation This Week: Café - Conference Room, Sundays 11 am. For everyone! Women’s Bible Study - St. John Paul Room, Mondays 6:30 pm. All women are invited. Estudios Bíblicos - Sacred Heart Hall, Mondays 7:30 pm. Lenten topic is Pope Francis’ “Joy of the Gospel”. “Joy of the Gospel”/Reflections on the Passion of Christ with Fr. Paul - St. John Paul Room, Fridays 10:30 am. Parish Missions: This year’s Missions will be based on Pope Francis’ document “The Joy of the Gospel”. St. James and Sacred Heart presenters include Frs. Jonathan Felux, Secretary to Archbishop Gustavo; Fr. David Garcia, Director of the San Antonio Missions; and Fr. Eddie Bernal, pastor of St. Benedict in San Antonio. St. Patrick presenters will be Sister Anne Garcia of the Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence; Dr. John Nira, Chair of Theology Dept at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio; and Fr. Fernando Velásquez OMI, who works closely with the IFP program which a number of our parishioners attend. Indeed, those who enjoy life most are those who leave security on the shore and become excited by the mission of communicating life to others” (p. 10) Ecumenical Lenten Gatherings: This Wednesday, our Gonzales Ministerial Alliance will be hosting its noon Lenten prayer gathering at First Baptist Church, with light meal to follow at First Methodist. All are invited! Our Catholic Community will host the gathering on Wednesday, March 11. St. Andrew Dinner: Are you a single male who has considered finding out more about priesthood? You are invited to the St. Andrew Dinner at Assumption Seminary, on Tuesday, March 24, with Archbishop Gustavo and seminarians, to meet them, and share some vocation stories from priests. You’ll need to register; call Fr. Paul who has more information. New “Welcome” Sign: Thanks to Alex and Charlotte Smith for erecting a Welcome Sign on their property, on Hwy 183 between Hochheim and Gonzales, and to Andy and Cindy Rodriguez of Personal Impressions who provided the artwork and printing of the sign.
