Please be informed as per circular issued by the Centro de Navegacion
(Chamber grouping local agents in Argentina) that the local Pilots Association
through the River Plate Area Committee has decided that bearing in mind that
there are not clear instructions from the Sanitary Authorities as to the
measures and actions to be met with by the pilots in relation to the vessels
coming from infected areas with Ebola, the pilots companies rendering
pilotage services in the River Plate who are part of the Committee, decided
that their pilots will not board any vessel coming from the infected areas
(Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone) until such time as they have
completed 30 (thirty) days from the departure of the last port of the infected
areas until the time the pilot should board the vessel.
On the other hand the Centro de Navegacion has addressed a letter to the
Sanitary Authorities requesting to issue a procedure in respect of the vessels
arriving from the infected areas. (letters from Pilot Association and CNT in
Spanish language attached, free translation to follow).
In view of the aforementioned, we would suggest that if any vessel is coming
from any of those countries then her Master/Owners should get advice from
their local agents in advance and before arriving/entering the River Plate area.
However, this office will continue watching the situation and will issue further
circulars on the subject when and if further news to report.

RESPECTO A BUQUES PROVENIENTES DE ZONAS
CON TRASMISIÓN ACTIVA DEL BROTE DEL VIRUS ÉBOLA

Continuando con nuestro Informativo Nº 227, comunicamos a los Sres. Socios que
la Cámara de Actividades de Practicaje y Pilotaje, a través del Comité de la Zona
Río de la Plata, ha establecido que al no existir al día de la fecha instrucciones
precisas emanadas de las Autoridades correspondientes sobre las medidas y
acciones a cumplir por parte de los prácticos con los buques que procedan de las
zonas infectadas con el EVE (enfermedad virus del Ébola), las empresas
prestadoras del servicio en el Río de la Plata que conforman el Comité, han decido
que los prácticos de dichas empresas no embarcaran en los buques provenientes
de las zonas infectadas (Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria y Sierra Leona) hasta tanto no se
hayan cumplido 30 (treinta) días desde la partida del último puerto de dichas zonas
infectadas hasta el embarque del práctico.
Asimismo, se informa que el Centro de Navegación ha remitido Nota a la
Coordinadora de Sanidad de Fronteras, Dra. Andrea Caro, a los efectos de solicitar
con carácter de urgente, se defina adecuadamente los procedimientos
sanitarios para buques con destino a puertos nacionales, que procedan en su
travesía de zonas, países o puertos considerados riesgosos, por detectarse brotes
del virus Ébola.
