FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT
TOGETHER IN MISSION 2015
HERE WE GO
AGAIN! It seems as
if we are just winding down one Together in Mission
Campaign and then
it’s time to start all
over again.
Fortunately,
last
year we were able to reach again our parish
goal of $36,800 thanks to those of you who
made pledges or made one-time gifts to this
cause which provides assistance to the most
needy parishes and Catholic schools in the
Archdiocese.
This year’s goal is $34,900, $1,900 less than
last year’s. This was no surprise. If you follow this bulletin, you have noticed that the
Sunday collection consistently been less than
the minimum amount needed for each week.
During the fiscal year July 2013 to July
2014, we received approximately $19,000
less than the previous year and hence the our
2015 Together in Mission goal decreased by
$1900. The parish goal is set by the Archdiocese as 10 percent of the total offertory income.
If we can find 350 people who each make a
$100 pledge or more (payable over 5 months
in $20 payments), we will be able to reach
this year’s goal $34,900. Will you help us?

school youth.
BOYS’ RETREAT:

We offer these retreats for our Confirmation teens but
they are open to any young person in high school.
A retreat can be an unforgettable, life-changing experience. We highly recommend these retreats to our parish
teens. Don’t let them miss this opportunity to grow closer
to the Lord and deepen their knowledge of our Catholic

‘Sacramentos’ recibidos no son lícitos en los ojos de la

In the United States, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has declared that "the age of fasting
is from the completion of the eighteenth year to
the beginning of the sixtieth." The USCCB also
allows the substitution of some other form of penance for abstinence on all of the Fridays of the
year, except for those Fridays in Lent. Thus, the
rules for fasting and abstinence in the United
States are:
Every person 14 years of age or older must abstain from meat (and items made with meat) on
Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all the Fridays of Lent.
Every person between the age of 18 and 60 must
fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
