Couples wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage with
Mass or Liturgy of the Word are asked to enter a process of
preparation at least nine months in advance of their intended
wedding date. The bride or groom or the parents of the bride

He was an early Christian bishop, who was in
the Middle Ages venerated as patron of sailors
and protector of blessed marriages. As
Sinterklaas, he remains a characteristic figure
in Dutch folklore. He is also the historical
figure behind Santa Claus.

STEWARDSHIP
Stewardship involves more than just the gift
we bring to the altar. Today’s readings say
clearly that it is fidelity to God’s law that
makes our offering acceptable.
ADMINISTRADORES/MAYORDOMIA
This week we begin the Bishop’s Annual Appeal.
The theme this year is “One in Faith, One in
Family, One in the Body of Christ.” The target
goal for St. Paul is $16,834 and the target goal
Holy Family is $2,511. We are confident that
with everyone's participation we will be able to
exceed that amount.

and individually parts of one another.”

Will need cutting soon! Now taking “bids” for
lawn care at the Hwy.441, Ward St. and Rectory
lawns. A bid for all three locations as well as a
bid for the three individual properties should be
turned into the office within the next few weeks.

San Nicolás fue un obispo de la era temprana
de mediana edad como patron de los Marineros

Campaña Anual del Obispo
Esta semana comienza la Campaña Anual del
Obispo. El tema de este año es “Sean ricos en
buenas obras, en generosidad, y estén listos
para compartir.” La meta de nuestra parroquia
es $16,834 (San Pablo) y $2,511 (Sagrada
Familia) y tenemos fe que, con la participación
de todos, lograremos superar esa cantidad.
Así muchos somos un cuerpo en Cristo, mas
todos miembros los unos de los otros.
(Romanos 12: 4-6)

El Buen Camino
Convenzámonos de una vez que la ley de Dios no se
compone de arbitrarios «haz esto» y «no hagas aquello»,
con el objeto de fastidiarnos. Es cierto que la ley de Dios
prueba la fortaleza de nuestra fibra moral, pero no es éste
su primordial objetivo. Dios no es un ser caprichoso.
No ha establecido sus mandamientos como el que pone
obstáculos en una carrera. Dios no está apostado,
esperando al primero de los mortales que caiga de bruces
con el fin de hacerle sentir el peso de su ira.
Muy al contrario, la ley de Dios es expresión de su
amor y sabiduría infinitos. Cuando adquirimos un
aparato doméstico del tipo que sea, si tenemos sentido
común lo utilizaremos según las instrucciones de su
fabricante. Damos por supuesto que quien lo hizo sabe
mejor cómo usarlo para que funcione bien y dure.
También, si tenemos sentido común, confiaremos en
que Dios conoce mejor qué es lo más apropiado para
nuestra felicidad personal y la de la humanidad.
Podríamos decir que la ley de Dios es sencillamente un
folleto de instrucciones que acompaña al noble producto
de Dios, que es el hombre.
Más estrictamente, diríamos que la ley de Dios es la
expresión de la divina sabiduría dirigida al hombre para
que éste alcance su fin y su perfección. La ley de Dios
regula al hombre «el uso» de sí mismo, tanto en sus
relaciones con Dios como con el prójimo.
Si consideramos cómo sería el mundo si todos
obedeciéramos la ley de Dios, resulta patente que se
dirige a procurar la felicidad y el bienestar del hombre.
No habría delitos y, en consecuencia, no habría
necesidad de jueces, policías y cárceles. No habría
codicia o ambición, y, en consecuencia, no habría
necesidad de guerras, ejércitos o armadas. No habría
hogares rotos, ni delincuencia juvenil, ni hospitales para
alcohólicos. Sabemos que -consecuencia del pecado
original - este mundo hermoso y feliz jamás existirá.
Pero individualmente puede existir para cada uno de
nosotros. Nosotros, igual que la humanidad en su
conjunto, hallaríamos la verdadera felicidad, incluso en
este mundo, si identificáramos nuestra voluntad con la
de Dios.
Estamos hechos para amar a Dios, aquí y en la
eternidad. Este es el fin de nuestro existir, en esto
encontramos nuestra felicidad. Y Jesús nos da las
instrucciones para conseguir esa felicidad con sencillez
absoluta: «Si me amáis, guardad mis mandamientos»,
(Jn. 14,15).cfr. La fe explicada - Leo J. Trese
EJEMPLO: Un viajero va al departamento de turismo y
pregunta: -¿Mi destino es la Ciudad de México donde
está? -Hacia el Sur y le entregan un mapa. -No necesito
el mapa, pues no quiero ir al sur, me iré hacia el norte.
-Tú crees que ¿algún día llegará? No lo logrará,
necesita cambiar de rumbo y utilizar un map¿aa para
encontrar el buen camino, pues se ha alejado cada vez
más. Ese mapa está en los Mandamientos, que es la ruta
segura para llegar al Reino de Dios. - ¿Y tú, para donde
quieres ir? ¿Al sur o al norte? Escoge.
