La Inmaculada Concepción
El 8 de diciembre, la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de la Inmaculada Concepción de la Bienaventurada Virgen María. Esta fiesta celebra el
hecho de que María, la Madre de Jesús, a fin de ser la persona más
perfecta para llevar al Salvador en su vientre, fue ella misma concebida sin pecado original. Para la Iglesia esta fiesta es tan importante
que el día 8 de diciembre es un día de precepto, lo que indica que
los católicos están obligados a asistir a la Santa Misa. Esto es particularmente oportuno en los Estados Unidos, donde la Virgen de la
Inmaculada Concepción es la patrona nacional
The Immaculate Conception by Fr. Larry Rice, CSP
On December 8th, the Church observes the feast of the Immaculate
Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This feast celebrates the
fact that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, in order to be a most perfect
vessel for the Savior, was herself conceived without original sin.
The Church regards this feast as so important that December 8th is a
Holy Day of Obligation, on which Catholics are obliged to participate in the sacred liturgy. This is particularly apropos in the United
States, where Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception is the national patroness.

Parroquia San José en Bainbridge, GA
La Parroquia San José es una de las 43 iglesias en la Diócesis de
Savannah que cuentan con una misa en español. El Padre Rudy
Breunig, quien pertenece a la Congregación de
Siervos Misioneros de la Santísima Trinidad
(ST), es el Párroco. Si uno se dejara llevar solo
por las apariencias, nunca se imaginaria que el P.
Rudy habla un perfecto español; el cual aprendió
hace muchos años en Costa Rica. En la parroquia
también se encuentra el Padre Arturo Quezada,
ST; quien fue ordenado sacerdote en enero de
este año y está dedicado a trabajar con y por los
católicos hispanos en colaboración con el Diacono Victor Canela, ST. A este maravilloso grupo
se une también Lorena Meneses quien colabora
en diferentes actividades de la parroquia. Si

St. Joseph Parish in Bainbridge GA
St. Joseph Parish is one of the 43 churches in the Diocese of Savannah that have a Mass in Spanish. Father Rudy Breunig, who belongs
to the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy
Trinity (ST), is the Pastor . If you get carried
away by appearances alone, you would never
imagine that Father Rudy speaks perfect Spanish, which he learned many years ago in Costa
Rica. This parish also counts with Father Arturo
Quezada, ST, who was ordained in January of
this year, and is dedicated to working with and
for Hispanic Catholics in collaboration with
Deacon Victor Canela, ST. Another member of
this wonderful group is Lorena Meneses, who
collaborates in various parish activities. If you

La Diócesis de Savannah comprende 90 condados en el
Sur de Georgia. Cubre 37,038 millas. La Diócesis está
dividida en siete Decanatos (Regiones).
Su usted suma todas las parroquias y misiones en la diócesis, podemos decir que hay 79 iglesias Católicas. De
estas, 41 ofrecen Misa en español.
En el mapa de abajo usted puede ver cada Decanato y
sus nombres, así mismo los nombres de las ciudades
que tienen una iglesia Católica. Los pines marcan las
ciudades donde usted puede encontrar una Misa en español.
The Diocese of Savannah is comprised of 90 counties in
South Georgia. It covers 37,038 square miles. The Diocese
is divided into seven Deaneries (regions).
If you add all the parishes and missions in the diocese, you
can say that there are 79 Catholic churches. From those, 41
offer mass in Spanish.
In the map below you can see each Deanery and their names, as well as the cities that have a Catholic church. The

Certificado por internet en Teología Pastoral en español de la Universidad de Dallas. Dirigido a enriquecer la formación de líderes
catequéticos y de ministerio que sirven a la comunidad de habla
hispana. Al completar 18 cursos, a lo largo de 3 años, el estudiante
obtiene un Certificado en Teología Pastoral de la Escuela de Ministerio de la Universidad de Dallas. No hay requisitos académicos ni
legales para inscribirse. Inscripciones abiertas del 10 de Octubre al
15 de Noviembre. El costo del curso es de $670.- por año ($56 al

Great formation opportunity in Spanish!!
Online Certificate in Pastoral Theology in Spanish from the University of Dallas. Directed to enrich the formation of catechetical and
ministry leaders serving the Spanish-speaking community. Upon
completion of 18 online courses, over a period of 3 years, the student
earns a Certificate of Pastoral Theology from the School of Ministry
of the University of Dallas. There are no academic or legal prerequisites in order to register. Registration is open Oct. 10 – Nov. 15, 2013.
The annual tuition is $670 (or $56 a month) and includes 6 online

Líderes laicos
Lay Leaders
Los laicos somos todos los cristianos que no son parte del clero, es
decir, los fieles que hemos sido incorporados a Cristo por el bautismo. El Papa Juan Pablo II, en la exhortación Apostólica
“Christifidelis Laici” llama a los laicos a tomar conciencia de “no
sólo pertenecer a la Iglesia, sino de ser la Iglesia”. Los laicos somos
pues, los obreros de la viña a los que el Señor llama y envía en cualquier momento de la vida, no importa la edad, condición social o
estado de vida. (Mt. 20, 1-2).El fiel laico no puede cerrarse en sí
mismo. Estamos llamados a tomar parte en los diferentes ministerios para enriquecer a la Iglesia, según los dones recibidos del Espíritu Santo. He aquí unos ejemplos de laicos que han decidido poner
sus dones al servicio de sus parroquias:
 Líderes Grupo Juvenil
Juan Carlos y Marisol Gaytán, son una pareja casada con tres hijas
menores de tres años. Y a pesar de eso y sus múltiples ocupaciones,
dijeron sí! al llamado de su párroco de dirigir el grupo juvenil hispano de la Iglesia Santa Teresa en Albany. Si desea conocer más

 Nuevos miembros del Consejo Pastoral
El pasado mes, Juanita Sosa y Juan López fueron elegidos como
miembros del Consejo Pastoral de la Parroquia San José en Waycross. Desde el boletín del Ministerio Hispano los felicitamos por su
compromiso e interés de servir a su comunidad. Así mismo invitamos a todos a seguir su ejemplo y a participar activamente en sus
parroquias. Tu comunidad de fe necesita de ti! Comparte con ellos
los talentos que Dios te ha regalado.
The laity consists of all Christians that don’t belong to the clergy; that
means, the faithful who have been incorporated into Christ by Baptism. Pope John Paul II, in his Apostolic Exhortation Christifidelis
Laici" called the laity to become aware of "not only belonging to the
Church, but of being the Church." The laity, therefore, are the vineyard workers to which the Lord calls and sends at any time of life,
regardless of age, social status or state of life. (Mt 20, 1-2). The lay
faithful cannot close itself. We are called to take part in the various
ministries to enrich the Church, according to the gifts received from
the Holy Spirit. Here are some examples of lay people who have decided to put their gifts into service to their parishes:
 Youth Group Leaders
Juan Carlos and Marisol Gaytan are a married couple with three children under three years of age. Despite his many occupations they said
yes to the call of their pastor to lead the Hispanic youth group of St.
Theresa Church in Albany. To learn more about her story, read the

Prayer and Life Workshop, invites you to experience a profound experience of God's love, renew your faith and charm for life. Learn to
pray in a personal and communal way. Gradually, you will be freeing
yourself of sorrows, anxieties and fears. This will improve your interactions with yourself, others and God. You will learn a different
ways to pray and study the word of God. The program will start on

 New members of the Pastoral Council
Last month, Juanita Sosa and Juan Lopez were elected as members of
the Parish Pastoral Council of St. Joseph in Waycross. The Hispanic
Ministry Bulletin applauds them for their commitment and interest in
serving their community. It also invites everyone to follow their example and actively participate in their parishes. Your faith community
needs you! Share with them the talents God has given you.

Reunión del Consejo Diocesano del Ministerio Hispano con el
Obispo de Savannah (Foto 1)
El dia lunes 4 de noviembre miembros del Consejo del Ministerio
Hispano Diocesano se reunieron con el Obispo Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv., para presentarle una propuesta de trabajo. La
reunión fue muy positiva y se espera que en los siguientes meses
este grupo trabaje en varias iniciativas a nivel diocesano. Los
miembros del Consejo del Ministerio Hispano son: P. Rafael Estrada de Hazelhurst, Baxley yAlma, P.Justin Furgeson de Tifton, P.

Festival de la Cosecha Internacional
La Parroquia San José en Bainbridge celebro su Cuarto Festival de
la Cosecha Internacional. El evento inicio con una misa Bilingüe
seguida por un almuerzo, juegos y danzas folclóricas de México,
Vietnam y Filipinas entre otros. Al preguntarle a párroco de la
iglesia, Padre Rudy Breunig, ST, su opinión sobre el evento el dijo:
“Nuestro festival de la cosecha es una manera para que todos podamos ver que es posible experimentar unidad por medio de la diversidad, y que el elemento que hace que esto sea posible es… la Fe.
Profetas de Esperanza
El pasado 7 de septiembre y 5 de Octubre, más de 60 líderes jóvenes de 8 parroquias de la Diócesis de Savannah se reunieron para el
entrenamiento de líderes denominado Profetas de Esperanza. Durante el evento los jóvenes profundizaron su fe y aprendieron muchas cosas entre ellas: trabajar en equipo y como ayudar a sus parroquias.

The Diocesan Hispanic Ministry Council met with the Bishop of
Savannah (Picture 1)
On Monday Nov. 4, members of the Diocesan Hispanic Ministry
Council met with Bishop Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv., to
present a working proposal. The meeting was very positive and it is
expected that in the coming months, this group will be working on
several initiatives at the diocesan level. The Hispanic Ministry Council members are: Fr Rafael Estrada from Hazelhurst, Baxley and
Alma, Fr Justin Furgeson from Tifton, Fr Stephen Pontzier from
Dublin, Fr Fredy Angel from Adel and Lakeland, Fr Pablo Migone
from Augusta, Lili Niederkorn, Diocesan Hispanic Ministry Director
and Sandra Molina, Hispanic Ministry Coordinator of Sacred Heart
Church, Warner Robins.
International Harvest Festival
St. Joseph Parish in Bainbridge held its Fourth International Harvest
Festival. The event began with a Bilingual Mass followed by lunch,
games and folk dances of Mexico, Vietnam and the Philippines,
among others. When we asked the Pastor of the Parishes, Father
Rudy Breunig, ST, his opinion on the event, he said: “Our Harvest
Festival is a way for all of us to see just how possible it is to experience unity through diversity, and the element that makes it possible
is…faith”.
Prophets of Hope (Picture 2)
On Sept. 7 and Oct. 5, 2013, more than 60 young leaders from eight
parishes of the Diocese of Savannah gathered for a leadership training called Prophets of Hope. During the event, the young deepening
their faith and learned many things, including teamwork and how to
help their parishes.
