INTRODUCTION El presente manual ha sido elaborado con la pretensión de contribuir a que conozcas, de forma sistemática, la gramática inglesa; el tratamiento de sus contenidos se ha realizado teniendo en cuenta el objetivo que persigues, que no es otro que el de superar una oposición. En este sentido, pretende ser un manual de fácil comprensión, con un claro enfoque práctico y, sobre todo, absolutamente adaptado a las exigencias reales de la oposición que preparas. Para ello, la secuenciación de la información es presentada en base a un orden lógico de menor a mayor dificultad. Cada aspecto gramatical se aborda desde dos fases o vertientes absolutamente complementarias y necesarias: En primer lugar, se hace una breve y clara presentación: (definiciones, clasificaciones, tipos de palabras, aclaraciones de vocablos, etc.); este primer apartado, de marcado carácter teórico debe ser memorizado, para lograr el éxito, previamente a la realización de los ejercicios tipo test, los cuales, constituyen la segunda parte de tu trabajo; se trata aquí de poner en práctica los contenidos conceptuales adquiridos en la primera fase. Este verbo es auxiliar y puede hacer la negación y la interrogación sobre sí mismo. Para hacer la negación, se le añade la partícula negativa not al verbo. Para preguntar, el verbo invierte su posición con el sujeto. El uso de las formas contraídas denota un contexto más coloquial y, por lo tanto, no se consideran correctas en el lenguaje escrito formal. ZERO ARTICLE No existe en español. Se trata de un 'no artículo' delante del sustantivo. Se utiliza cuando hablamos de algo general, no concreto. En inglés tenemos los verbos "to be" (ser o estar), "to have" (haber o tener) - ambos explicados anteriormente - y "to do" (en su forma auxiliar no tiene traducción, sí tiene, no obstante, en su forma original: hacer). Así mismo, tenemos los verbos auxiliares modales. Los verbos auxiliares forman el negativo y el interrogativo sin el uso del auxiliar "to do". El negativo se forma agregando "not" al verbo, el interrogativo, invirtiendo el orden del sujeto y el verbo. Los verbos to be y to have intervienen en la formación de los tiempos verbales compuestos de otros verbos. El verbo to do es necesario para formar el negativo y el interrogativo de los tiempos simples. En el presente se utiliza la forma "do" para todas las personas excepto la tercera del singular, que requiere la forma "does". El verbo principal va en infinitivo. MODALS VERBS Además de las características generales de los verbos auxiliares señaladas más arriba, los verbos modales (can, could, may, might, must, need, ought to, shall, should, used to, will y would) se caracterizan por una serie de rasgos específicos: a. Todos los verbos modales son auxiliares; es decir, hacen la negación y la interrogación por sí mismos; b.
