En la tradición de las Asambleas del Movimiento Popular,
Got Green y Comunidad a Comunidad, miembros de GGJ,
son anfitriones de la serie regional de las Asambleas de Transición Justa para desarrollar una plataforma colectiva de la

from Got Green
In the tradition of People’s Movement Assemblies, GGJ
members Got Green and Community to Community are
hosting a series of regional Just Transition Assemblies to
develop a collective platform for the Next Economy in the
Pacific Northwest. We hope participants will share ideas on
what a just transition to a next economy might look like in our
communities, how current campaigns and activities connect
to this just transition, and what kind of local economies we
envision.

have a different take on what it means to be an environmentalist. We view our struggle for environmental justice as being
organically linked to all struggles for justice. Against poverty.
Against homelessness. Against police brutality, racial violence
and racial profiling. Against the prison industry. If we don’t
have political justice, if we don’t have racial justice, if we don’t
have economic justice, we cannot achieve environmental
justice.”

Got Green es una organización comunitaria que trabaja por

Got Green is an environmental justice community
organization in South Seattle led by young adults and people
of color that promotes the movement for an equitable, green
economy as the best way to fight poverty and global warming
at the same time. Got Green works to ensure that low-income
people and communities of color in Seattle/King County
benefit from the green movement and the green economy –
living wage green jobs, access to healthy food, energy efficient
and healthy homes, and quality public transportation. We do
this by cultivating leaders of all ages to educate, advocate,
organize and build coalitions.
Front and Centered is a statewide coalition of more than 60
organizations and groups rooted in communities of color and
people with lower incomes; we’re on the frontlines of economic and environmental change. As thought leaders and organizers our agenda and strength is built with our grassroots
community. Together we have a reach that spans hundreds of
thousands of families and individuals. We work to build power
and capacity for a Just Transition that centers equity and is led
by people of color.

¿Qué es una Asamblea
de Transición Justa?
De Grassroots Global Justice: Hay tres dinámicas que dan
forma a las condiciones del mundo actual —las crisis económica y ecológica y la crisis del imperio. Conectado a las crisis
económica y ecológica, los EEUU continúa haciendo guerras
en el nombre de la libertad y de la democracia para mantener
poder a través del mundo. Creemos que para poder abordar
las raíces de estas crisis, las comunidades que se encuentran
en las trincheras y que son las más impactadas por el racismo
ambiental, institucional y la injusticia sistemática, la opresión
económica y de género, son las voces que necesitamos
escuchar y levantar para llegar a las soluciones que nos

What is a
Just Transition Assembly?
From Grassroots Global Justice: There are three dynamics
that shape today’s world conditions—the economic crisis, the
ecological crisis and the crisis of empire. Connected to the
economic crisis and the ecological crises, the US continues to
wage wars in the name of freedom and democracy as a means
to maintain power around the world. We believe that in order
to address the root causes of these crises, frontline communities most impacted by environmental racism, institutional and
systemic injustice, economic and gender oppression, are the
voices we need to listen to and uplift for the solutions that will
benefit us all. We need to build the different road-- towards an
economy that is better for people and the planet, new ways of
practicing democracy, being stewards of the Earth’s
resources, holding our differences while sharing common
values and principles. The process in which we challenge
capitalism and create our own solutions and alternatives
is through Just Transition. It is a step towards a complete
re-imagination of our world, grounded in practice and solutions offered up by communities that have been the most
exploited and neglected by this current economy.

Queremos agradecer a todos los que han trabajado para que

To the Duwamish Tribe and local indigenous peoples who
have long defended and struggled for their land and rights. To
the families and workers who have cared for the children and
community - it takes a village to raise a child, so that the child
can come back to raise the village. To all the youth leading the
movement towards the vision for a better future. Thank you.

Acuerdo de Grupos
Los sistemas desiguales existen. Nos estamos aquí para discutir

Group Agreements
Unequal Systems exist. We are not here to argue the existence
of white privilege, racism, patriarchy, classism, colonization, and
other forms of oppression. Together, we will focus on dismantling
these systems and ensuring that we are not replicating these very
systems we are trying to fight.
Treat each other with respect and dignity. No one is
disposable. We come from different backgrounds, abilities,
identities, and experiences in which we strive to honor and value.
Everyone is capable of doing harm and being harmed. We
ask to allow space and compassion for people to make mistakes
and to learn from them. We ask to allow space and compassion for
people to heal from the trauma of oppression. We ask that people
be accountable to each other and try to meet each other where they
are at.
Move up and move back. We invite everyone to participate to
the best they can, to be present, and to contribute to the group’s
discussion. We will actively listen to others and create space for
everyone to participate.
Take care of needs. We will make the time to actively take care of
ourselves and each other. This movement is not a sprint, but a long
term commitment. We need all of our people to win!
Expect a lack of closure: The conversations cannot end here and
must continue. We strive to have patience and flexibility to ensure
that this Assembly can build upon our work and relationships.

Idle No More: Descolonizar Nuestro Activismo
Este taller incorpora enseñanzas tradicionales Nativo Americanos
que son más relevantes y necesarios hoy día. Ofreceremos algunas
sugerencias en cómo ser un buen aliado y formar colaboraciones
con los protectores tradicionales de esta tierra. Este taller cubre
brevemente los talleres más largos sobre la Historia de la
Colonización, Sanación del Trauma Histórico, Activismo
Espiritual y El 7o Fuego. Ofreceremos introspección, participación
en grupo, actuación, pláticas uno a uno y en grupo, meditación en
grupo y finalmente las acciones positivas que cada persona puede

Idle No More: Decolonize Our Activism
This workshop incorporates traditional Native American teachings
that are even more relevant and needed today. We will offer some
suggestions on how to be a good ally and form partnerships with the
traditional stewards of this land. This workshop briefly covers the
longer workshops of History of Colonization, Healing
Historical Trauma, Spiritual Activism, and The 7th Fire.
Offering self-reflection, group participation, role play, one-on-one
and small group discussions, group meditation, and finally positive
actions each individual can take. By acknowledging our collective
past and focusing on the present healing often leads participants to
become aware of historical barriers that can be effectively removed
in a safe and comfortable environment. Facilitated by Idle No More
Washington director Sweetwater Nannauck.

Worker Rights and the Green Economy
Through panels, interactive visioning activities and group discussion, attendees will come away from this track understanding what
an equitable definition of green jobs looks like, the history of
worker’s rights and how people are redefining advocacy for
worker’s rights. Using the experience in the room, we can begin
to create solutions for worker’s rights and green jobs within the
context of a just transition. Facilitators from Casa Latina, Fair Work
Center, and Got Green will share and guide this conversation.

Human Rights, Dignity, and Power
In this time of militarized policing, mass incarceration and
deportations and targeted surveillance, we must examine our
historical relationship to the state that has led to our current
conditions. How do we continue to uphold our people’s rights and
dignity? How do we respond to the growing and increasingly
complex needs of our communities in regards to safety and
livelihood? What will it take to win? Facilitators from Api Chaya,
FIGHT, and No New Youth Jail will share and guide conversation.
Climate Justice and Energy Democracy
In this session we will provide a collaborative overview of climate
justice. Will start with environmental racism and energy/ economic
drivers, then introduce the resilient communities framework. We
will then break-out into solution groups for the majority of the
session. The breakouts will focus on different levels of action from
policy to community-self sufficiency to personal transformation.
We will reconvene from breakouts to summarize solutions.

and Centered, Asian Pacific Islander Coalition, Women of Color
Speak Out and 350 Seattle will share and guide conversation.
