DIVINE MERCY
LA DIVINA MISERICORDIA
In 1931 Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appeared to Sister
Faustina (now Saint Faustina) and instructed her to " Paint an image
according to the pattern you see, with the inscription: Jesus I trust in
You!". Later, Jesus told her "The pale ray stands for the Water
which makes souls righteous; the red ray stands for the Blood which
is the life of souls. These two rays issued forth from the depths of
My most tender Mercy at the time when My agonizing Heart was
opened by a lance on the Cross. . . Fortunate is the one who will
dwell in their shelter, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold on
him."
El 22 de Febrero de 1931, Sor Faustina (hoy Santa Faustina) tuvo
una visión de Jesús en el pueblo de Plock, Polonia y Nuestro Señor
le dijo:
Divine Mercy Sunday
As a further sign of Divine Mercy Jesus instructed her "I want this
image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter; that
Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy. On that day, the depths of My
Mercy will be open to all. Whoever will go to confession and Holy
Communion on that day will receive complete forgiveness of sin
and punishment. Mankind will not enjoy peace until it turns with
confidence to My Mercy."
The Chaplet
Jesus said later to Sister Faustina: "Say unceasingly this chaplet that
I have taught you. Anyone who says it will receive great Mercy at
the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as the last
hope. Even the most hardened sinner, if he recites this chaplet even
once, will receive grace from My infinite Mercy. I want the whole
world to know My infinite Mercy. I want to give unimaginable
graces to those who trust in My Mercy.
Divine Mercy Novena
Jesus further asked that this Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded
by a Novena of Chaplets to the Divine Mercy which would begin
on Good Friday. Say one chaplet each day following the novena
intention. In her diary, St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her:
"On each day of the novena you will bring to My Heart a different
group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My
mercy... On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My
passion, for the graces for these souls. By this novena I will grant
every possible grace to souls." (Diary 1209, 796)
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy, which was given to Sister Faustina,
is recited on each day of the Novena. Jesus promised: "by this
Novena I will grant every possible grace to souls"
The chaplet is prayed on Rosary Beads as follows:
The sign of the Cross.
Optional opening prayer.
The Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

"Pinte una imagen de acuerdo a esta visión, con las palabras 'Jesús,
en Tí confío' "Los dos rayos indican Agua y Sangre. El rayo pálido
significa el Agua que hace las almas justas. El rayo rojo significa la
Sangre que es la vida de las almas."
"Estos dos rayos salieron de las profundidades de Mi tierna
Misericordia, cuando Mi corazón agonizado fue abierto por la lanza
en la Cruz." "Escribe que cuando reciten esta Coronilla en presencia
del moribundo, Yo me pondré entre mi Padre y el, no como Justo
Juez sino como Salvador Misericordioso."
"Yo quiero que esta imagen sea solemnemente bendecida el primer
domingo después de Pascua; ese domingo ha de ser la Fiesta de Mi
Misericordia."
"En aquel día están abiertas las entrañas de Mi Misericordia.
Derramaré un mar entero de gracias sobre las almas que se acercan
al manantial de Mi misericordia; el alma que se confiese [dentro de
ocho días antes o después] y comulgue [el mismo día] obtendrá la
remisión total de culpas y castigos. La humanidad no conocerá paz
hasta que se dirija a la Fuente de Mi misericordia."
"Alienta a las personas a decir la Coronilla que te he dado... Quien
la recite recibirá gran misericordia a la hora de la muerte. Los
sacerdotes la recomendaran a los pecadores como su último refugio
de salvación. Aun si el pecador mas empedernido hubiese recitado
esta Coronilla al menos una vez, recibirá la gracia de Mi infinita
Misericordia . Deseo que todo el mundo conosca My infinita
Misericordia. Deseo conceder gracias inimaginables a aquellos que
confían en Mi Misericordia."
Novena a la Divina Misericordia
Sor Faustina escribió en su Diario: El Señor me pidió que rezara
este rosario (la coronilla) durante los nueve días que preceden a la
Fiesta de la Misericordia, comenzando el día de Viernes Santo.
Entonces, me dijo: Por esta novena concederé todas las gracias
posibles a las almas (11, 197). También se puede hacer esta novena
en otros momentos y por cualquier necesidad.
Palabras de Nuestro Señor que Sor Faustina tomó por escrito:
Deseo que durante estos nueve días encamines almas hasta el
manantial de Mi misericordia, para que encuentren allí la fortaleza,
el refugio y toda aquella gracia que necesiten en las penalidades de
la vida, y especialmente en la hora de la muerte.

us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins, but upon our trust
which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the
abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape
from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the
Father and the Holy Spirit.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and
especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most
Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His Sorrowful
Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence
of Your mercy for ever and ever. Amen.

Hoy tráeme a todo el género humano, especialmente a los pecadores
y sumérgelos en el océano de Mi misericordia. De esta forma me
consolarás de la honda pesadumbre en que me sume la pérdida de
las almas. Oración:

nosotros y perdonarnos, no mires nuestros pecados, sino la
confianza que depositamos en Tu bondad infinita. Acógenos en la

jamás de el. Te lo pedimos por el amor que te une al Padre y al

Second Day
"Today bring to Me the Souls of Priests and Religious and immerse
them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave Me strength
to endure My bitter Passion. Through them as through channels My
mercy flows out upon mankind."
Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase
Your grace in men and women consecrated to Your service, that
they may perform worthy works of mercy, and that all who see
them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company of
chosen ones in Your vineyard - upon the souls of priests and
religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For
the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded,
impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide
others in the way of salvation, and with one voice sing praise to
Your boundless mercy for ages without end. Amen.
Segundo Día
Hoy tráeme las almas de los sacerdotes y religiosos y sumérgelas en
Mi misericordia insondable. Fueron ellos los que me dieron
fortaleza para soportar hasta el fin las amarguras de Mi Pasión. A
través de ellos, como por canales, Mi misericordia fluye hasta los
hombres. Oración:
Misericordiosísimo Jesús, de quien procede toda bondad, multiplica
Tus gracias sobre las religiosas consagradas a Tu servicio, para que
puedan hacer obras dignas de misericordia; y que todos aquellos
que las vean, glorifiquen al Padre de Misericordia que está en el
cielo. Padre Eterno, vuelve Tu mirada misericordiosa hacia el grupo
elegido en Tu viña - hacia las almas de sacerdotes y religiosos -;
dótalos con la fortaleza de Tus bendiciones. Por el amor del corazón
de Tu Hijo, en el cual están unidos, impárteles Tu poder y Tu luz,
para que guíen a otros en el camino de la salvación y con una sola
voz canten alabanzas a tu misericordia por los siglos de los siglos.

Third Day
"Today bring to Me All Devout and Faithful Souls and immerse
them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought Me
consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were that drop of
consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness."
Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart
Your graces in the great abundance to each and all. Receive us into
the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us
escape from It. We beg this of You by that most wondrous love for
the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.
Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon
the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion,
grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant
protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of
the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints,
may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.
Tercer Día
Hoy tráeme a todas las almas devotas y fieles y sumérgelas en el
océano de Mi misericordia. Ellas me confortaron a lo largo del Vía
Crucis. Fueron gota de consuelo en un océano de amargura.
Oración:
Misericordiosísimo Jesús, del tesoro de Tu misericordia distribuye
Tus gracias a raudales entre todos y cada uno de nosotros.
Acógenos en el seno de Tu Compasivísimo Corazón y no permitas
que salgamos nunca. Te imploramos esta gracia en virtud del más
excelso de los amores; aquel con el que Tu corazón arde tan
fervorosamente por el Padre Celestial. Padre Eterno, vuelve Tu
piadosa mirada hacia las almas fieles, pues que guardan el legado

Fourth Day
"Today bring to Me Those Who Do Not Believe In God and Those
Who Do Not Yet Know Me. I was thinking also of them during My
bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My heart. Immerse
them in the ocean of My mercy."
Most Compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world.
Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the
souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do
not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they,
too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not
let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate
Heart.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who
do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You,
but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus.
Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what
great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the
generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.
Cuarto Día
Hoy tráeme a los que no creen en mí1 y a los que todavía no me
conocen. Pensaba en ellos durante las angustias de Mi Pasión, y su
futuro fervor servía de consuelo a Mi corazón. Sumérgelos en el
océano de Mi misericordia. Oración:
Piadosísimo Jesús, Tú que eres Luz del género humano, recibe en la
morada de Tu corazón lleno de compasión, las almas de aquellos
que todavía no creen en Ti, o que no te conocen. Que los rayos de
Tu gracia los iluminen para que también, unidos a nosotros,
ensalcen tu maravillosa misericordia; y no los dejes salir de la
morada de Tu corazón desbordante de piedad. Padre Eterno, vuelve
Tu piadosa mirada a las almas de aquellos que no creen en Tu Hijo
y las de aquellos que todavía no te conocen pero anidan en el

Fifth Day
"Today bring to Me the Souls of those who have separated
themselves from My Church and immerse them in the ocean of My
mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart,
that is My Church. As they return to unity with the Church My
wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion."
Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to
those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most
Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated
themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the
unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of
Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too,
come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who
have separated themselves from Your Son's Church, who have
squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces obstinately
persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the
love of Your Own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He
underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most
Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify
Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.
Quinto Día
Hoy tráeme las almas de nuestros hermanos separados2 y
sumérgelas en el océano de Mi misericordia. Durante las angustias
de Mi Pasión desgarraron Mi Cuerpo y Mi Corazón, es decir, mi
Iglesia. A medida que se reincorporan a ella, Mis heridas cicatrizan
y de esta forma sirven de bálsamo a Mi Pasión. Oración:
Misericordiosísimo Jesús, que eres la Bondad misma, no niegues la
luz a aquellos que Te buscan. Recibe en el seno de tu corazón
desbordante de piedad las almas de nuestros hermanos separados.
Encamínalos, con la ayuda de Tu luz, a la unidad de la Iglesia y no
los dejes marchar del cobijo de Tu Compasivo Corazón, todo amor;
haz que también ellos lleguen a glorificar la generosidad de Tu
misericordia. Padre Eterno, vuelve tu piadosa mirada hacia las
almas de nuestros hermanos separados, especialmente hacia las
almas de aquellos que han malgastado Tus bendiciones y abusado

Sixth Day
"Today bring to Me The Meek and Humble Souls and the Souls of
Little Children and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most
closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter
agony. I saw them as earthly Angels who will keep vigil at My
altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the
humble soul is capable of receiving My grace I favor humble souls
with My confidence."
Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said, "Learn from Me for I
am meek and humble of heart." Receive into the abode of Your
Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls
of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy, and they
are the heavenly Father's favorites. They are a sweet-smelling
bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in
their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most
Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a
hymn of love and mercy.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon
humble souls and upon little children, who are enfolded in the
abode of the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear
the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the
earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all
goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the
delight you take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls
together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages.
Amen.
Sexto Día
Hoy tráeme las almas mansas y humildes y las almas de los niños
pequeños y sumérgelas en Mi misericordia. Son éstas las más
parecidas a Mi corazón. Me proporcionaron fortaleza durante Mi
amarga agonía, puesto que las veía como Angeles terrestres,
velando junto a Mis altares. Derramo sobre ellas gracias
torrenciales, porque sólo el alma humilde es capaz de recibir Mi
gracia. Distingo a las almas humildes con Mi confianza. Oración:
Misericordiosísimo Jesús, que dijiste: Aprended de Mí, que soy
manso y humilde de corazón. Acoge en el seno de Tu corazón
desbordante de piedad a todas las almas mansas y humildes y las de
los niños pequeños. Estas almas son la delicia de las regiones
celestiales y las preferidas del Padre Eterno, pues se recrea en ellas
muy particularmente. Son como un ramillete de florecillas que
despidieran su perfume ante el trono de Dios. El mismo Dios se
embriaga con su fragancia. Ellas encuentran abrigo perenne en Tu
Piadosísimo Corazón, Oh Jesús, y entonan, incesantemente himnos
de amor y gloria. Padre Eterno, vuelve Tu mirada llena de
misericordia hacia estas almas mansas, hacia estas almas humildes
y hacia los niños pequeños acurrucados en el seno del corazón
desbordante de piedad de Jesús. Estas almas se asemejan más a Tu
Hijo. Su fragancia asciende desde la tierra hasta alcanzar Tu Trono,
Señor. Padre de misericordia y bondad suma, Te suplico, por el
amor que Te inspiran estas almas y el gozo que Te proporcionan:
Bendice a todo el género humano, para que todas las almas a la par
entonen las alabanzas que a Tu misericordia se deben por los siglos
de los siglos. Amén.
Seventh Day
"Today bring to Me The Souls Who Especially Venerate and
Glorify My Mercy and immerse them in My mercy. These souls
sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My
spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These
souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of
them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each
one of them at the hour of death."
Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the
abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who
particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your Mercy. These
souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst
of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident in Your
Mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their
shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy
will embrace them as they depart from this life.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify
and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy,
and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus.
These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of
mercy and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of
mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God: Show them Your
mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let
there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to
them that during their life, but especially at the hour of death, the
souls who will venerate this fathomless mercy of His, He Himself,
will defend as His glory. Amen.
Séptimo Día
Hoy tráeme las almas que veneran y glorifican especialmente Mi
misericordia3 y sumérgelas en Mi misericordia. Ellas sintieron los
sufrimientos de Mi Pasión y penetraron en Mi espíritu más
profundamente que ninguna otra. Son vivo reflejo de Mi piadoso
corazón, y resplandecerán con esplendor especial en la vida futura.
Ninguna de ellas sufrirá el tormento del fuego eterno, porque las
defenderé con particular empeño a la hora de la muerte. Oración:
Misericordiosísimo Jesús, cuyo Tu corazón es el amor mismo,
recibe en el seno de Tu corazón piadosísimo las almas de aquellos
que de una manera especial alaban y honran la grandeza de Tu
misericordia. Son poderosas con el poder de Dios mismo. En medio
de las dificultades y aflicciones siguen adelante, confiadas en Tu
misericordia; y unidas a Ti, Oh Jesús, portan sobre sus hombros a
todo el género humano; por ello no serán juzgadas con severidad,
sino que Tu misericordia las acogerá cuando llegue el momento de
partir de esta vida. Padre Eterno, vuelve Tu mirada sobre las almas
que alaban y honran Tu Atributo Supremo, Tu misericordia infinita,
guarecidas en el Piadosísimo Corazón de Jesús. Estas almas viven
el Evangelio con sus manos rebosantes de obras de misericordia y

Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly
loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in
your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the
treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you
only know the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for
them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice."
Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire
mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart
the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet who
must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood
and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames
of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be
celebrated.
Eternal Father, turn Your most merciful gaze upon the souls
suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most
Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion
of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most
sacred Soul was flooded, manifest Your mercy to the souls who are
under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only
through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we
firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and
compassion. Amen.
Ninth Day
"Today bring to Me The Souls Who Have Become Lukewarm and
immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My
Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing
in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the
reason I cried out: 'Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your
will.' For them the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy."
Most Compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring
lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart.
In this fire of Your pure love let these tepid souls, who, like
corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set
aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of
Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love; and
bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your
power.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who
are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus.
Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and
by His three-hour agony on the Cross: let them, too, glorify the
abyss of Your mercy. Amen

Octavo Dia
Hoy tráeme las almas que están detenidas en el purgatorio y
sumérgelas en las profundidades de Mi misericordia. Que Mi
Sangre, cayendo a chorros, apacigüe las llamas en que se abrasan.
Todas estas almas me son muy queridas. Ellas pagan el castigo que
se debe a Mi justicia. En tu poder está socorrerlas. Saca todas las
indulgencias del tesoro de Mi Iglesia y ofrécelas por ellas. Oh, si
supieras qué tormentos padecen, ofrecerías continuamente por ellas
las limosnas del espíritu y saldarías las deudas que tienen con Mi
justicia. Oración:
Misericordiosísimo Jesús, que exclamaste ¡misericordia! introduzco
ahora en el seno de tu corazón desbordante de misericordia, las
almas del purgatorio, almas que tanto aprecias pero que, no
obstante,. han de pagar su culpa. Que el manantial de Sangre y
Agua que brotó de Tu corazón apague las llamas purificadoras para
que, también allí, el poder de Tu misericordia sea glorificado. Padre
Eterno, mira con ojos misericordiosos a estas almas que padecen en
el purgatorio y que Jesús acoge en Su corazón, desbordante de
piedad. Te suplico, por la dolorosa Pasión que sufrió Tu Hijo, y por
toda la amargura que anegó Su sagradísima alma: Muéstrate
misericordioso con las almas que se hallan bajo Tu justiciera
mirada. No los mires de otro modo, sino sólo a través de las heridas
de Jesús, Tu Hijo bien amado; porque creemos firmemente que Tu
bondad y compasión son infinitas. Amén.
Noveno Dia
Hoy tráeme las almas tibias4 y sumérgelas en las profundidades de
Mi misericordia. Ellas fueron las que más laceraron, Mi corazón.
Por su indiferencia Mi alma padeció un terrible hastío en el Huerto
de los Olivos. Ellas me hicieron gritar: "Padre, si quieres, aparta de
Mi este cáliz". La última esperanza de salvación para ellas estriba
en apelar a Mi misericordia. Oración:
Piadosísimo Jesús, que eres la piedad misma, traigo hoy al seno de
Tu Compasivo Corazón a las almas enfermas de tibieza. Que el
puro amor que Te inflama encienda en ellas de nuevo la llama de
Tu amor, y no vuelva el peso muerto de su indiferencia a abrumarte
con su carga. Oh Jesús, todo compasión, ejerce la omnipotencia de
Tu Misericordia, y atráelas a Ti, que eres llama de amor viva y haz
que ardan con santo fervor, porque Tú todo lo puedes. Padre Eterno,
mira con ojos misericordiosos a estas almas que a pesar de todo,
Jesús cobija en el seno de Su corazón lleno de piedad. Padre de
Misericordia, te ruego, por los sufrimientos que Tu hijo padeció, y
por Sus tres largas horas de agonía en la Cruz: que ellas también
glorifiquen el mar sin fondo de Tu misericordia. Amén.
